Mason Mount

Featured Replies

None of this matters. Cutting through all of the rhetoric on social media, whether we fans like it or not and regardless about the homegrown lads or the players that Boehly fcked up buying, we need to raise funds now and everyone knows it. The only clubs with proper money are the EPL clubs. Selling homegrown players will immediately improve our bottom line.

Therefore regardless of what the club put out to the press or the way the agents try to manipulate the situations, I fully expect to see RLC, CHO, Maatsen, Chalobah, Mount and possibly Gallagher to go. For all of these players we already have players in those positions or there are other youngsters ready to be developed and brought through.

Selling Chalobah and keeping Koulibaly is crass, of course. But we're not shifting Koulibaly on his salary. Chalobah is far more manoeuvrable.  Just on example.  Unpopular but probably true.

I can't believe there used to be Saka vs Mount debates to be honest

It’s what Hudson-Odoi was supposed to be for us, and Saka’s value at RW cannot be underestimated either, as most elite wide players prefer the left side, the list is so long for the opposite side, Kvaradona, Rafael Leao, Vinicius Jr, Mbappe etc etc.

Mount has put it on record as being Portsmouth through & through but having United as his ‘glory’ team, he “fell in love with Old Trafford and Ronaldo” verbatim.

Reece James was born in London as Chelsea fan, him and his sister were always Chelsea. He’s literally our Francesco Totti, we don’t need to fret over all the guys from the academy machine all being branded ‘proper chels.

For what it's worth, it should always be known and remembered that Mason Mount put out a huge shift for us for a couple of seasons in a row without getting any real rest. He did give his all and under Tuchel he was untouchable as nobody was doing what he was doing better than him. The club simply changed too fast, but he'll forever be a part of CFC history.

Hey @cococan you add a poll to this thread?

first option - I believe what the owners are saying

Second option - I believe what Mounts camp is saying

Second option  - I believe neither, they are both telling tales.

Curious to see who most of us believe more.

It is so obvious both are lying.

Share the same sentiments, this move seems like a financial one. Not worried about him turning out for the Reds, a move to Liverpool or Arsenal would have taken his game to another level because of their managers. I still don’t see where he starts unless Ten Hag decides to play him ahead of the £80m £200k/w Antony on the RW. I can’t knock him for looking after himself, it will be interesting to see how his career plays out in the long run. Just feels like the whole deletion of his Twitter page because of abuse from a section of football fans was a calculated move.

Mount will play as a 10, it looks like Bruno is being shifted more and more to the right.

I know, comparing a player who led his team to a Champions league trophy with one who won.....erm......well......

I think most Chelsea fans would take Saka in an instant, he's really developed into a phenomenal talent the past 12 /18 months for club and country.... head and shoulders above what we've been watching. Would love to see both playing at the bridge but not looking likely. Will have to wait for England matches to see that combo

And when the comparisons were being made between them pretty much every teams fans would have taken Mount in an instant.

Seeing our "fans" denigrating Mount is embarrassing.

Oddly, despite the headlines, If United and CFC can't agree a fee for Mount, I'd like the club to hang onto him until January and next summer. Just reckon He'd thrive and get back to his top form with Pochettino and find a new lease of life. Lets face it, United is a huge career gamble and they play in a sh*tty red coloured kit and need to use google translate to get past that strange accent.

I'm not seeing what is unfair about the above offer to Mount. If he genuinely wants to stay and be part of the project, accept it and improve your performances and fight to be a consistent starter. Then negotiate further if he has a good season next season. I personally believe he doesn't want to compete with Nkunku and feels he should be more valued given he's an academy player and one of Chelsea's better players a couple seasons ago.

That’s honestly the conclusion I’m coming to as well. If he was really offered those contracts and rejected them then it probably has to do with him not wanting to compete and wanting a first team spot in the starting 11. Man utd negotiators are good at mugging ppl so they might say he’ll be a key player but will end up on the bench.

Yup, imagine constantly playing down a player in that lineup.

Would people say the same thing about Werner? We arguably declined massively after he left last year, without his runs our attack looks toothless

Jorginho was also in that line up, yet he got far more abuse than Mount ever did

That's what i mean. The UCL win is regularly thrown in to defend Mount two years on when Jorginho was getting it in both barrels (often by the same people who act like Mount criticism is blasphemy) even in or around the time.

I do not think we will miss Mount. We need to cash in on him ASAP. I actually think the players coming in are levels above him. Mount has not been the same since Lamps left. He doesn't even get into the England starting 11.

Tut tut

You know who JT supported as a kid ?

And there's a picture of Ray Wilkins holding up a Man Utd mug while he was still a Chelsea player ?

To me , they are Chelsea legends always will be , and Mount to me is a.Chelsea academy success and a Chelsea Champions League winner.

Digging up stuff when he was a kid ?

Give me a break

He never let us down in his time at the club. He consistently put in good performances and always put in a shift.

If he leaves, he leaves with my thanks and best wishes for the future.

I don't know, I thought he was pretty sh*t last season. If I was to rate his season, it would be a 3/10. He's looked disinterested all season.

From my perspective sad to see him leave but not completely gutted. Some things aren't forever and something has felt off for a while. I wouldn't be surprised to see him flop at united, but a part of me hopes he doesn't.

I hope we show the class we have tended to with ex players when he returns to the club and give him the ovation he deserves. He served us well through the years but I fear he's going be treated like a pantomine villain.

I feel it will (rightly) depend on how he talks about us.

If he himself shows class I'd like to see it returned but if he starts doing a Jose and firing shots at the supporters who stuck by him through 18 months of largely brutal performances then all bets are off.

Some fans are not showing any class , but I hope Mason can .

I'd be stunned if he goes down that route. But yeah if he plays those games then fine.

An extreme small minority, which he will also face at United.

Banging on about how the United fans are the best he's had will also count.
