Mason Mount

Featured Replies

Per Sky Sports Fibbing News (paraphrasing)

'Chelsea owners value Mason at 85 million quid, United are only prepared to pay 55 million for his services'

In other words don't think this will be a quick transaction,  Mason has 1 year remaining on his CFC contract, United know they just make a lowball offer and wait for Bully & Co to figure it out. One could argue that's not relevant and Bully & Co believe they can spark a bidding war, but I reckon Mason wants United over a the Arse or Bin Dippers. Don't know how serious Bayern's interest is, again BM aren't mugs either.

I'll be sad to see him go, a good performer most of the time and it's speaks volumes that every manger he's played for rates him.

I'm still hoping for a last minute U-turn but I think the damage has been done and he has his heart set on leaving now.

2 questions:

1. If Pochettino wants him, why hasn’t Mount signed yet? The club should just give him a 3 year deal and not worry about it. Things can change a lot in a season.

2. Why on earth would he want to go to United?

Most of my United supporting mates are too keen on him and see him as a squad player.

Not many left from the Chelsea-boys era of Frank's first stint here. Tammy, Guehi, Tomori, Chalobah, James, Gilmour, RLC, CHO and finally Mount.

Quite a good cast too but interesting none particularly setting the world alight where they have gone bar 2 with what can be considered a fairly good season if we are being generous.

. Keeping Havertz employed and Mount leaving is a travesty

I'm sure when the time for a new contract comes, Havertz will not be offered and given the same level of flexibility in negotiating for near three seasons as Mount has but refused to sign contract.

Mount leaving is no travesty but his choice. There is a good deal on the table, but not good enough for him.

I kind of respect it.

A footballer's career is short. If the opportunity arises where you can earn money that will even set up your great, great grandchildren, by all means you should take it.

Absolutely. I never begrudge them for whatever financial consideration they make as clubs dump and replace them as soon as the next best thing comes along too.

What I don't like is when they try to use the fans love and support to act like they are being forced to make the decisions they make when it's not favoured by the fans.

With all due respect, if they ask 80 million for Mount he will just leave next summer for free. There is no way any sane team would pay this amount for a player with 1 year left on the contract unless we are talking prime Messi, Ronaldo, Haaland or generational talents like Kai Havertz, Asier Del Horno, Mateja Kezman and Papy Djilobodji.

I think we'll settle on 60 with maybe 5m of add ons, that being them winning the league or CL next season.

And you know that how? Most reports are saying the deal offered pre-WC that he had all but agreed to was changed in January. I largely blame Roman/Marina for this too for not locking Mount down to a longer contract post-Porto.

Where has he done this?

Judging by James' Instagram post it certainly isn't the club withdrawing on him the way many are saying (which is also speculation but for some reason they aren't getting called out the same way).

We'll likely never truly know the full story but I imagine the truth is somewhere in-between both extremes.

There probably is a modicum of truth from all sides with journalists filling in the blanks, not necessarily correctly. As for Reece, his post probably wasn't the best for sustaining dressing room harmony that is filled with testosterone and own self importance. Its also very easy to snipe from the sidelines having already secured yourself a nice fat wage packet regardless of if you stay fit.

Didn't you get the memo? We just make things up on here now.

Boehly has signed Caitlyn Jenner to replace Sam Kerr going into the next WSL. I for one am fuming, why have they done this to us fans.

The weird little stories people are making up to justify them wanting Mount sold is so odd, I've never seen it before.

The club withdrawing tirade is only usually brought up as a counter to people stating with absolute certainty that Mount is forcing a move for more money and hates Chelsea.

I'm also not convinced the James insta post is about Mount, from what i see they're close mates in real life. You'd just text your mate if he was leaving, not put some childish cryptic Instagram story. Its another thing that could be completely made up that people have ran with.

Well, I never liked his weekly changing hairstyle.
