Mason Mount

And his wages don't seem to have increased since then (while still under Abramovich and after having his arguably best season) so I don't understand what is going on. He's been out for a period of time this season. I imagine the board want to see how he performs next season before giving him a longer term contract.

I saw this:

Last season (21 G+A) was only his very good season since he signed the £80k/w contract, the other 2 seasons he has had 12 G+A, & 11 G+A which compared to his peers and the mins he plays is about average. If Marina had given him a £200k/w+ contract towards the end of the season and before the sale, she would have been blamed for giving out another bad contract considering Mount’s struggles this season (5 G+A).

15 of those 21 were against five teams (Norwich, Watford, Leeds, Southampton and Everton) that finished in the bottom six as well, including 10 of the 11 goals.

He's good, but comes up short of the top quality, and hence I think the clubs offers are more than fair.

With Nkunku coming in I think the club see less need for him and they can cash in now for decent fee. It may suck for those who have a fondness for seeing academy graduates play for us, but it's also on Mount to want to stay.

Once he’s gone he just another ex Chelsea player end of

but

no way would I sell him to a rival where is the sense in that. It’s only going to make them stronger

Possibly so, but his mind is made up. If Frank, the very man who initially recognised Masons talent and moulded him into the player he is can't get him back in the team, I don't think Pochettino is.

Whatever Mason's reasons are (we have no idea) I don't hold any ill will towards the lad.

For all we know Frank may well have been so disenchanted with the changed in the club that he may well have said to Mason to have it on his toes, its not the same club they both played and developed in.

For all we know Lamps may be totally disillusioned as well with those now running our club.

Contract offers made to Mason Mount were:

August and September 2022: 5 years + 1 year option
February 2023: 1 year, with significant increase in wages to allow for further negotiations

This thread is a bit bizzare. Most of the argument is mount is not a superstar, so he is easily replaceable 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Mount has outplayed puli, kai, ziyech, timo, etc2. We have spent over 200m on those players and Mount has outplayed every single one of them so no he is not easily replaceable.

You say that as if it's a difficult thing.

If it’s true he did indeed reject those contracts even the one year extension which I said probably a few pages back he should have done if he was truly Mr Chelsea if he rejected all those then he doesn’t have blue in him at all.

Signing a one year extension is nothing as he is young can leave next season if he’s still not happy!!!

Hey @cococan you add a poll to this thread?

first option - I believe what the owners are saying

Second option - I believe what Mounts camp is saying

Second option  - I believe neither, they are both telling tales.

Curious to see who most of us believe more.

Rejected 200kpw, 5 year deal.

The new deal for Saka was 200k pw and he is literally Arsenal’s best player and star man.

His agent is obviously looking at the fact United always go mental with wages, Sancho alone is on over 350k pw reportedly.

I don't see how he gets in the United lineup ahead of Fred.

Share the same sentiments, this move seems like a financial one. Not worried about him turning out for the Reds, a move to Liverpool or Arsenal would have taken his game to another level because of their managers. I still don’t see where he starts unless Ten Hag decides to play him ahead of the £80m £200k/w Antony on the RW. I can’t knock him for looking after himself, it will be interesting to see how his career plays out in the long run. Just feels like the whole deletion of his Twitter page because of abuse from a section of football fans was a calculated move.

I can't believe there used to be Saka vs Mount debates to be honest
