Timo Werner

Is it just us that his problem of buying players and normally forwards where their skill of scoring just disappears and they lose belief.

Torres was a huge disappointment yet remember him being used as a make-shift right wing substitute from the bench and he did ok there and battled.

Werner does do decent runs on the ball and finds players it is just his shooting and first touch that are abysmal yet I also fear this time at the club may affect his wider game and  personality if not handled carefully. At least someone can say to him don't worry Salah had a similar problem at SB.

Sorry strider I completely disagree. He absolutely does not do "decent runs"! If he did he wouldn't be off-side such much!!!! Also, he very often runs down blind alleys. That's to say he runs into positions that put opponents between him and the player in possession of the ball. That means he loses the line of sight, the angle, and the man with the ball can't make the pass easily without it being intercepted.

He is an awful, awful footballer. Not just technically. He doesn't have a football brain. I'd love him to end up at Liverpool. It would make them significantly weaker.

Thanks. It's unbelievable how often our players treat the international break as an opportunity to sow unrest and division. He talks as if he never gets any chances with us, when the reality is he has plenty but blows the vast majority of them.

Overall his attitude has been very good, but I think it's pretty unprofessional when players make (implied) criticisms of the manager like that.

Does not really matter if he goes somewhere else and lights it up there. If he continues to be useless here that is more detrimental to us than him becoming a Salah elsewhere (not that I expect that to happen in his case).

Really not that bad a quote if you read it in full:

"There are differences in the style of play between football at Chelsea and here.

"The standard of football at the international level is closer to League One than the Premier League, which suits me far better for obvious reasons.

"Here, I always have scoring chances, I can score goals.

"I feel very comfortable here."

His actual run to make space for Havertz CL winning goal is what runs are about….

Werner said stuff that was factually accurate. He does get more chances in the Germany team, and the style played with the national team does suit him more than us.

We have had the same issue for years - buy strikers that simply don't suit the system we play/played at the time.

Werner, Lukaku, Torres, Batsman, Falcao, Higuain, Sheva. Perhaps Morata.

With Werner, you simply have to play forward quickly, for him to run on to. It is pointless trying to get him to be the all singing/dancing battler like Costa, the powerhouse like drogs, the explosive finisher like Jimmy or the silky finisher like Anelka. He doesnt have it in him....

But closing, chasing and running in behind, he is great at. Lukaku similar.

Love Timo, but I think a move back to Germany would be best for everyone involved. He just doesn't have the technical ability to thrive in our system, unfortunately. I do really like the player and I enjoy watching him play, as frustrating as he can be in front of goal. One thing you know you will get with Timo is 100% effort every match. Just wish he could properly finish.

Imagine if Werner had those 3 chances Brentford scored. I can see them all now:

1. Tries to cut it back onto his right foot and runs straight into the defender
2. Hits it straight at the keeper, or misses the ball entirely
3. Offside and hits it straight at the keeper anyway

He is often the best defender for our opposition, with the amount of times he stifles our attacks.

Chelsea career is over for me, hasn’t got the physicality, mental strength or even the talent to turn this around in this league.

Shouldn’t start anymore games until he’s sold in the summer, unless we have an injury crisis up front.

Has given up and clearly wants out. A shame because he always came across well and gave his all even when things weren’t working.
Cannot be in ahead of Lakaku again, sad state of affairs when you consider that!

Werner is absolutely done playing for us, he plays like he doesn’t want to be here and from now should never play more than a 5 minute in a cameo in a game we’re winning 4-0, he can lose and mis-control the ball all he wants there.

How about the 4 goals?

1. Spot on that is exactly Timo.

2. Is offside and scores

3. Spot on again

4. Takes a swing and sends it in to atmosphere.

I really do not get TT keeping on playing him. He loses every one on one, he half a$$es it the whole game and keeps getting opportunities. He does here, mentally he is broken. Even if all our other options are out play Kenedy or Vale they won't be as bad.

I have defended him but his last performances show that he is not very much interested in being here at Chelsea. Today he did not even try to press, so I hope that Tuchel sits him on the bench until we sell him.

Did you or anyone else think he slowed down when Kai played him through? Is like he wanted the defenders to get back and block is shot because he had no confidence he could beat the keeper and wanted an excuse.
