I read somehwere that they(Leeds) outran us on the night by 10 km(!) Now I don't know how true that is but it certainly looked that way.

My point is, some of the problems, like players bought by previous regimes isn't TT's fault. But motivating the team to perform to the best of their ability certainly is and yesterday he failed in that respect miserably . I genuinely hope that his public explanation is just for show and behind closed doors he's giving absolute hell to the players. Still, this is not the first time his excuses after poor performance/loss sound odd, as if the guy is watching a different game to the rest of us.

I have to say, for the first time I'm starting to wonder if he's the right man to build a top side and get us back to contention.

I commented on this myself last night. Didn't see the match yesterday but a km per man across the pitch is like having an extra player. Working hard off the ball is the basics and goes back to the old quote 'Hard work will beat skill when skill doesn't work hard enough!'

I am still awaiting the people calling for his head to name a suitable replacement that’s available. Kloop went through this for his first couple of seasons but eventually got it right. We have so many mishaps in players that it will take two full summers to clear it all out.
Having said that Tuchel must see something in training that lets him stick to the 3 at the back.

And please no one mention Poch who is a serial bottler!!!!

Definitely Poch......

i wouldnt read too much into that.. they had 3 in the middle and we had 3 CBs who arent going to be as up and down.. so doesnt surprise me if we did not run enough.. but it did seem yesterday that we couldnt win any 50/50s..

Seemed strange that TT emphasized that the Leeds press wasn't a factor for our defeat, when it clearly played a part. Yes there were individual mistakes, but we were overrrun by their system in the end. If he really doesn't see that, then it doesn't bode well.

If we keep going through the same debate every couple seasons about replacing a coach, It can't be the  coach can it. City haven't had that issue with Pep, neither have Liverpool. We don't give anyone time.

I would say most of our players have an above average talent, but that talent may be limited to one particular position. Play them in a different position and they're out of their depth. What would happen if we started playing everyone in their natural position, do we even have enough depth to field 11 players? Probably not, so the ideal situation is to have more versatile olayers. Tuchel is perhaps overestimating the versatility of his players, and sticking to a formation come what may - even if that's boring to watch or at worst suicidal.  I just can't figure out how Tuchel's mind works. He's clearly not a crap manager, he must see how some are underperforming, why doesn't he change things around (either in his starting line-up or quickly during the match) when he sees it's not working? Or does he think it IS working?

Apart from the few who have been at the same club for at least 5 years or so, every manager at every club inherits players they haven't bought. I'm certainly not advocating a managerial change - who would we bring in as a replacement? - but if giving him more time until he has a squad that's 99% his, means watching the same sort of football as the last one and a half or two seasons, I'm not looking forward to the near future. The odd great match won't be much comfort.

I think you are mistaking reasonable criticism (which is justified on our recent form) for people calling for TT's removal. I am sure there are some members who would like to see him replaced, but most of us are just concerned with the way things are going right now. The last thing I want to see is yet another managerial change, especially so soon into a change of ownership. That being said there are justifiable reasons for concern right now, and not just from yesterday's game. While their have been a few excellent, individual games, the overall pattern has not been good now for most of this calendar year. I think and hope TT will be given some time to allow the new signings to settle into his desired system.  However I doubt the new owners will accept much regression from top 4 based on their financial outlay. This is a unique season with the World Cup in the middle. In a way we have 2 seasons within 1. I think the key for this first half will be to stay in contention. Nothing will be won in the pre-World cup portion of the season, but we need to ensure that we are comfortably in the chasing pack. Then hopefully the new signings will be settled in by the second half of the season and we can see some improvements.

I'm willing to give it until Jan to see how we adapt to the new signings, and see who else comes in, and who goes out. But it is getting worrying just how toothless we seem to be. The attacking players we have, on paper, should be at least vaguely effective, but no matter the combination, it never seems to work.

No one can figure TT out at the moment Val, not even himself. Maybe the temporary dual role is too much for him; advisor to Todd one day, coach the next, interviews in between resulting in car crash style planning for a game.  Everyone could see what was happening after 5 minutes on Sunday, Leeds pushed our wing backs back and then like a herd of elephants went straight down the middle stampeding over our 2 midfielders.  Both Gallagher and Jorginho were simply crushed. When they received the ball they were pounced upon by 2 or 3 Leeds players that why Leeds were at our defenders in quick succession time after time, yet TT did nothing to help them out by shoring up that midfield, which became the gateway to Leeds success.   What game was he watching when he comes out with a statement that we were the better team....he's losing the plot and the pressure is on to get results.

It is pretty interesting to see first time Tuchel is pressed in a presser about him being afraid of sacking. Hopefully we don't witness this anytime soon..

Our culture for the past 20 years have been a Russian one. Manager goes pretty early.

The press, the players, the club and everyone following football expect him to go. It is what we are used to. If and when Todd brings a new culture in he has a massive job in hand changing everyones mindset.

Thomas really should reel it in with his comments/excuses it’s really showing desperation and is embarrassing. We lost to a more organised aggressive team  that wanted it more. After the spuds game i thought we had sorted out our negative problems only for the next game to revert back to our f**king around in defence. Aaaaaaah ffs we need a decent centre forward. This is our attack- Mendy gets ball, looks around, misses the obvious option and decides to impersonate Messi at his best by dribbling and just about gets away with it, with endless sideways passing in slow motion (allowing the opposition to get back and organise themselves) we pass around and around (you would think someone would now make a move into the penalty area) or take a shot. There’s the problem,  a Costa, OSGOOD 🙂 etc would already be there. Instead we have ?
been on the beer but f**k it

I completely agree with the criticism as sometimes I wonder why am I watching this match or that match as all I do is get frustrated with misplaced simple passed players not looking up and seeing the pass the slow build up and constant risk averse passes, sh*t even my Apple Watch tells me I shouldn’t be watching with the heart rate alerts I keep getting.

I don’t think he going to change until we get a few more spankings unfortunately, he was very flexible in German and France and I want to see that here.

Therefore we were overrun! 10.5 km is enormous, be it the system or players not fully fit this has to be remedied.

I don’t understand this obsession with mileage, (kilometreage) you could run around for a thousand km, but in one km you could score two goals. Bullsh*t facts.

Generally speaking, distance covered is a measure of closing down, opponents.  I've said previously I didn't see the match yesterday but the gist of what I have read is it is we were overrun all over the pitch.

If you hate Pulisic that much, just send him back to the USA where he can play in the American soccer league. I am sure one of the clubs over there would love to take him on loan, or permanently given a fair price.

You say it like we're forcing him to stay here.

Believe me pretty much everyone connected with Chelsea from the coaches to most the fans to even his team mates based on how critical his family are towards them would love to send Pulisic back to the MLS or anywhere more suited to his level of ability.

But this isn't the NBA we can't just trade the contracts of our deadwood.

We actually need someone to want Pulisic and they don't. We've had no offers.

That's been the problem we've had all summer there's a lot of deadwood we haven't been able to shift because clubs simply haven't came in for them.

When everyone is fit, I'd like to see us change to a 4-3-3 or something similar. The midfield as it is, creates nothing and offers no protection. The attack is useless, and the defenders relied upon to do everything.

Something like:

Mendy

James   Silva   Koulibaly   Cucu/Chilwell

Jorginho

Mount   Gallagher

Pulisic    Broja   Sterling

I think it’s time for Tuchel to change the system. It’s not working. I refuse to believe these players can’t attack. Tuchel turned Frank‘s defence into CL winners. He simply changed the system.

Sick and tired of us being the better team and either losing or drawing 1-1.

Issue is the midfield. Not the system.
