Sloppy and poor performance. Midfielders and forwards underperformed. Mentally we were not there and it showed by us losing to a weak deflected goal.

Coaching loss. Mindset too defensive. Lads didn't start playing until they were down. Quit playing soft at home - if you are going to get beat, go down swinging. First half was like watching Mike Tyson box a kindergartner.

We lack technical players, they started with 3-4. That can be the difference in the big games.

Can only think if TT had been bold & made a change at HT might have been a different outcome, or it could be they tired towards the end making us look better. Still Man U have lost and we’ve only conceded the 1.

Could not handle the city press. City had more intensity in this game. Won most of the 50/50 balls.

I don’t think City gave us any chance to play with ambition and on the very rare occasion we did get forward with any purpose we cocked it up.

We might have beaten them in Porto, but a league season is the true measure and I have no doubt they remain ahead of us in that respect.

Thoroughly deserved loss. The only saving grace being Utd losing to Villa. 😛

Was that the worst performance under Tuchel? Especially in a big game.

Today was a lesson. City deserved the win. Learn and move on. We need to be more imposing. 
Closing on the only positives. Christensen had another good game and RLC looked very good. Perhaps that is the outcome - he offers quite a lot in that role 

If way played like that in the Champions league Final, we would have lost. Tuchel got everything wrong today unfortunately. From our negative approach before the goal all the way to the decision to play 2 strikers and 3 midfielders. Showed way too much respect City despite us having beat them in the last 3 times we've played.

Everybody has a bad day at the office it’s on the players for being sloppy but the blame here lies with TT got it totally wrong. Should have had Kai on at half time not chasing the game 

Back to the earth with a thud. First time I've watched Tuchel be out coached.

Waaaay too negative to start with. Noone to progress the ball from midfield to attack and we didn't hunt the ball like we did against City last year. We missed Mount's work off the ball.

Werner and Lukaku are not the type to build the play so why play them together? It was back to the bad old Sarri days when we tried to make Kante be creator and hunter by himself. Dave as wingback made that worse. James a better option with Dave in the back three. 

Somehow the changes made it even worse. Werner still standing up front playing no role at all while Kante who can change the game went off. 

A bin fire of a set up and performance, but probably well timed to shake up some ideas and play the best team for this game rather than give Werner a shot because he scored midweek.

Up until the goal, that performance was awful. Tuchel got it wrong, way too defensive, and our passing was not good enough to play through that strong city press. 

Christiensen, Mendy, and Rudiger had a good 90. Everyone else was poor to be honest. 

Nice run of fixtures now to put a good run together. 

It’s disappointing defeat, but the silver lining is I trust in Tuchel and I believe he will learn from this, let’s not let this defeat demoralize the team, we move on up the chels 

Very simple, not enough intensity in our play and we were simply not good enough. Hopefully now we can appreciate more of what Mount has been doing for us since last year. 

 

Really shows how much we missed Mount finding the space between the lines. There was just no way to get the ball from defence to attack, especially in the 1st half.

Not too bummed by this. It was maybe our turn somewhere to concede a sh*tty deflection but didn't want it to be this game. Could've easily been 3-4 after that first goal but Mendy and Silva kept us in the game. I'm sure Tuchel will learn from this and we'll win the reverse fixture later in the season.

At least we don't have to deal with the pressure of staying unbeaten all season now. We missed a chance to go 6 points clear but, in the grand scheme of things this result won't mean too much. Hopefully Tuchel and the team learn from this, we should never be so negative again. Having 0 shots on target is not thr kind of thing I want to see regularly 

Take it on the chin and hope Pool can draw City level in the next game. The table is still open provided we pull ourselves together.

Nope, the problem is simply Mount was not available and ziyech has been struggling otherwise we would have played one of them. 

Lucky goal but not the wrong result on balance of play. Better when havertz was on. Good news was RLC  who was pretty good albei when they were tiring. Kovacic was strong. Sigh. 

first time since Tuchel’ s been there that we were outclassed. 

hopefully that result will put a bit of extra steel into the team.
