Wow, I am very surprised with conor inclusion.

I am not sure where Southgate is going to play him.

Probably not at all. I vaguely remember a tournament where one of our players hardly got any minutes, was it Cahill? Or was it more recent, Chilwell perhaps?

Agree, I really can't see conor playing any game unless it is a nothing  game.

You can easily argue that bringing player like ruben is more useful than conor

Much better option than Mount right now.

                            Pickford

White-Stones-Maguire-Coady-Trippier

              Rice - Phillips - Dier

          Bellingham-

                  Gallagher

When having possesion

Out of Possession it’s a classic 5-5-0

Gallagher being a false 8 who sometimes, when very adventurous, crosses the midline (only when 2-0 down otherwise it’s too risky to leave the block of 5 DM’s in front of the 5 defenders)

This strategy of playing 0-0 every game and just practicing very hard on penalties is genius

I reckon he would replace Mount if he came on.

A Chelsea player for another Chelsea player is the easiest thing for an England manager to do.

Too many Chelsea players on the pitch at the same time would send the media and fans into a frenzy.

It was Chilwell at the Euro's. He was the only England player that didn't play a single minute.

Let's say Southgate start with

Mount - Kane - Sterling

There is saka, Grealish or foden who will play before Gallagher

I don't think Southgate will start Mount ahead of Saka, and possibly not even ahead of Grealish ... fully expecting a bit part role for Mount and a nice winter vacation in the sun for Gallagher 🙂

Can anyone tell me what this guy brings to the team? His touch is poor, his passing is poor, his tackling and defensive positioning is poor. He pops up with the odd goal every few months, but that's about it. New Loftus-Cheek? And we haven't even got rid of the old one yet.

He's one of the few people on the pitch that actually shows desire. Yes, he has some flaws, but they can get ironed out with more experience. I'll take him over any of our expensive mercenaries.

He provides cover at RWB if the 14 players ahead of him are unavailable.

Decent option for RWB. It's a moment he could have made the difference, GK made a good save but the shot wasn't that great. Just like Tuchel, Potter hasn't found a way to utilize his strength either.

Chilwell.  Then was out for a period with mental health issues from it being cited in the press.

There is Saka, Grealish or Foden that should play ahead of mid table out of form Mount and Sterling

Perfect fit looking at the others

Once more Conor has criticisms for the teams fitness and effort. Good leadership to speak out imo, seems to have a proper Chels attitude.

“We’ve got to be better and we need to take a look at ourselves. Physically, [Newcastle] were stronger than us and a lot more intense and that’s something we need to improve on. If we want to be challenging for titles and things like that, then we need to be so much better and Newcastle showed that. So we need to look at ourselves because we know there’s a lot to improve on.”

Yes, if the manager keeps up this ' we couldn't ask for more out of the players' routine when they were not, at least a player had the guts to call it out. Standard is dropping every week, it's about the first time I heard someone at Chelsea talk about challenging something. He put a shift in, can't say the same about most other players.

Attitude is key. RDM and Grant were shown to be poor managers and yet one won the CL and the other was a JT slip away from doing so too.

How did they do that when they were such poor managers? Because the players made it happen. They made up for having a rubbish manager in charge with their attitude forcing it to happen. Of course they were good players as well.

We are where we are because we have too many like Auba, Koulibaly and Sterling not interested in fighting for the Chelsea cause.

In both those finals we had John Terry as club captain and also Lampard and Ashley Cole at the top of their games. All were ambitious to win and break records.

I think this makes a difference too.
