November 1, 20223 yr Have noticed a few times this season he's quite slow. For me Chilwell is nailed on starter when both fit.

November 1, 20223 yr Cannot really use the "highly rated at Brighton" defence as Brighton also highly rate Lewis Dunk and Danny Welbeck.
November 1, 20223 yr I still think Cucurella is a better all around player. Chilwell better in the attacking end.

Not sure we will be able to keep both happy in the long term as I am not convinced Cucurella is good enough at LCB. I suspect one of the 2 players will leave.
November 1, 20223 yr Hmm based on what we have seen I would venture that: Better at heading the ball: Chilwell Better engine: Cucurella Better technique/ball control: Cucurella Better defender: Chilwell Better crossing: Chilwell Better passing: Cucurella Better finishing: Chilwell

Not sure I agree and I've actually been fighting against this argument about having this alleged 'abundance' of quality in the squad and how players will get upset over game time. There's going to be enough game time to go around. This season and especially last season proved as such.

Would be good to have 2 quality options at LB/LWB and we need to aim for the same on the right.

If one does go it had better not be Chilwell, I will be extremely gutted.
November 4, 20223 yr This is why we have quality backup/competition. Its early days and the fee was obviously high, but give him an extended run at left back (ideally) or LWB if we persist with this ridiculous back 3.
November 6, 20223 yr Looking that we spent 62mill on a one season wonder, Brightons version of Emerson.

Either way we wasted a heap of money in the summer and it looks like we are going to miss out on a heap more with the top 4 moving away.

November 6, 20223 yr Author Cucurella started well in his first few games. He's not a LCB, he shouldn't ever play there. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now, as I defintely think there's a good player in there. It's not his fault Bohley doesn't know how to value a football player.
November 6, 20223 yr Cucurella's doing alright. I thought he played [relatively] well today. He certainly seems like a sage purchase considering Chilwell's injury problems.

Chilwell has been very good for us overall but his bottom level is everybit as bad as we have seen from Cucurella. Neither of those two will truly make the LB/LWB position their own like Reece has on the other side, it will be a rotated position based on form and opponents.

Even at his bottom level, I have never seen Chilwell perform as badly for us as I have seen from Cucurella at times, especially today. I thought he was awful. Saka's a good player, but Cucurella look frightened of him. He panicked every time he went up against him.

He may well have had a Malouda year last season and Brighton made off brilliantly from it.
November 7, 20223 yr Looks rather slow, weak, short, average defender, average dribbler and average creator. Can't believe i'm saying it but not sure he's an upgrade on Alonso.

But yesterday he really couldn't have been any worse,we were almost better 10 men rather than have him giving away free kicks and passing to the opposition .☹️
November 7, 20223 yr i liked him at the start of the season but so far he regressed. The thing he had over Chilwell was his very rapid and kinda creative approach in attack. Now that wears off he just seem a very average player. He is kinda fast but not very fast and his defending is no better than Chilwell or Alonso. One of the latter two would have surely gotten on the score sheet lately. He is weaker and his passing is nothing special. That how i see it so far but it can very well change, so lets see what the season holds for him.
