Marc Cucurella

Definitely. If 62million also gives Colwill the chance to develop under an offense-positive manager, it would help us in the long term.

We get a good LB/LWB/LCB, Colwill gets minutes in the PL and we actually keep Colwill. It's a win-win-win situation all around without fecking Brighton over.

I doubt he's going to develop much in a season...but we'll see how much game time he gets under Potter. If he doesn't get much game time then it' s a waste of the season.  If it was because he was being used as a pawn in the transfer market, which is probably the case, then I guess he has his uses but not in the way he would like I'm sure.

City buy Philips for Depth and its a great bit of business, we buy Cucurella for the same reason and it's suddenly a poor purchase.

Media bias yet again

No...its the £62 mill for a 'depth' player that's a bit rich don't you think? Why do you think City walked away, they sure we're not going to pay over £40mill for a second stringer.  And the other thing this vast number has done has increased the price for anyone we are after, including Fofana.

If we manage to sell Sarr for anything more than £15m then coupled with signing Cucurella and "only" loaning Colwill that is outstanding business by an owner new to the game.

Yes, well fair enough if Todd can get shot of all the deadwood this window for a collective £62mill or close to it, it will certainly cover the cost.

As a chelsea fan I would far rather we were buying decent players and over paying for them than not buying anyone or buying a load of cobblers. What a great place to be in when all we can do is complain about over paying and how we could do it cheaper.

We aint there yet but I feel a lot better about things than when Kounde fell over. Kounde was unproven in premier league and cucurella has had his one season.

So we have Koulibally a nailed on starter, Sterling likewise, Cucurella who is comparable to Chilwell  and Chucky and Gallagher (who scored nearly as many goals as Jesus last season).  We still do need another central defender and if Broja doesn't cut it then another striker, I would like Auba think he would be excellent, Auba, Broja and Havertz or maybe even two of them with Sterling and Gallagher would be competitive.

Big challenge now is for Tuchel to fit it all together. Reading his presser comments sounds like there is no way we are going 4 at the back so the challenge is how to fit Gallagher or Chucky in let alone get 2 strikers on.

If Todd was a billionaire worth 10bill putting his own fortune in like Roman no concern for me, well unless we were signing Lukaku again...

Clearlake and what their business is, is my concern. Along with people like Wyss who care little for football.

I understand your concerns but we just have to have faith that they won't screw the club. So far they've begun planning to renovate the stadium and have brought in good players into the team and the development team. Todd has been flying all over to negotiate players and hosting dinner parties to get chummy with the other directors.

I'd say Todd is committed even though Chelsea isn't his personal plaything.

I'm a bit worried in that both him and Sterling clearly stuck out today and they both don't slip into the dreary Chelsea way we sometimes see during the season. In a sort of 'un-training the quality of them' way.

Negative much?

Shesh you are so demanding, give Tommy time!

Marc is certainly a strong fella, thick muscles on him. Reece may have competition for the beast tag.

Chilwell was rusty/poor despite making a good run and winning us that penalty. Cucurella felt like an instant upgrade when he came on, with lots of energy and aggression, compared to the sleepy passive performances by several of our other players. Tuchel even gestured falling asleep to Mount, before he took him and Chilwell off. Hopefully we get a good battle for left wingback going forward.

I think he has a good attacking brain in him and he will help break teams down, basically Alonso but much quicker although it remains to be seen if he can be a goal threat like him or Chilwell.
