It isn't fair on the players. The Premier league is full of international players, the majority of which aren't British and many who not only love representing their countries but are also in competition to secure a world cup spot. Forcing them to miss out on one of the last real chances to impress their manager It's 2022 I'm genuinely shocked and little disappointed there's even discussion of postponing a single game over this. It's shocking really.

You think it should be up to the Royal family if the games are allowed to be played or not. Why? Why should one family get to make a decision that impacts the Livlihoods and economic situations of millions in the U.K and entertainment options of billions around the globe because of their own personal sadness? The Games aren't played in her honour, she isn't integral or remotely important to how the country operates so while it's sad for some and they're welcome to Mourn there's no just reason to be cancelling events. None at all. It's a family tragedy but little more than that when it comes to national or global impact and the Premier league is a global entity. Ps - to anyone on the forum, if the game does go ahead and you have a ticket that you're too saddened to use because you're in a deep state of mourning I'm willing to take it off your hands at cost price to ease your struggle in this dark dark time. September 9, 20223 yr I think this weekend's games will be postponed as tomorrow's games are already off. Who knows though? With TV money holding a lot more power the league may still get their way. Next weekend is a different matter and I suspect most if not all will go ahead. But I think some games will get moved (e.g. from Sunday to Saturday) if security preparations are needed for the funeral on the Monday. Supposedly the security preparations for this event will be massive so that will take a lot of resources. So policing of matches has to be a consideration too. In terms of making up games they can't they extend the season by a week or 2 and add them to the end?
September 9, 20223 yr Personally would prefer if the football schedule went ahead. I was/am hoping that this should be seen as celebration of her life which can be reflected around all the football stadiums rather than a period of mourning where we cant do the things that make us happy.

I couldn't care less about delaying some football for a week or so to remember a woman who gave her life for her country for 70 years during world wars and such. If you want to mourn the death of The Queen, then go ahead, but I don't buy for a second that most of the country is in mourning, if that was the case, I would have come across at least one of them today, but they all seem to be getting on with their lives. I also don't agree that everything should come to a stand still because of it. I thank her for her services in WW2, but it's the same thanks I give to everybody that served, and I am not asking for everything to stop when they die. She was basically a very priviledged celebrity, in a very priviledged family, funded by the British people, somebody I would never have seen in my life if I hadn't owned a tv and somebody I don't feel enhanced my life in any meaningful way. I'm not sorry for being apathetical to this.

That would be a most fitting way to approach it, and one I feel she would have approved of. See what the new King feels though.
September 9, 20223 yr In normal situation, this game will be postponed but the schedule this season with world cup is already pretty bad. So who knows
September 9, 20223 yr decisions on all public events will take place this morning personally although deeply sad, I can’t see any point in postponing football matches, playing with crowds sharing their respects would be a fitting tribute
September 9, 20223 yr Gut feeling is they will postpone this week's matches. The logistics around police and security will be too much to handle.
September 9, 20223 yr I think they will only postpone our match if it clashed with events in Westminster and if congestion in Fulham is likely to cause a major traffic headache in other London areas. Would expect a minutes silence and black arm bands to show respect at all matches this weekend.

September 9, 20223 yr The government has given the go ahead for this weekend's sport events to continue, and the PL is meeting at the moment to decide if the matches are played over the weekend or not. I suppose that it will go ahead, but not so sure about the coming weekend if the games clash with the funeral and many people travel to London for it.
September 9, 20223 yr Understandable that this weekend's matches have npbeen postponed, but I would have preferred that the queen had died during an international break
September 9, 20223 yr Honestly don't see the point of postponing the games. They can still celebrate her a few minutes before the games. I feel bad for people who already made traveling and accommodation plans, especially international fans. A fan that just arrived in England today to see a premier league game over the weekend is now going to end up going back home without seeing a game which means they wasted thousands of dollars/pounds. Poor choice for the league to postpone the matches.
September 9, 20223 yr Author By the time we play our next game in October, Potter will have us looking like title challengers again, or even top 2 by the time the WC starts.

Oh well anything so the media can pretend people care about Lizzy snuffing it while we're all working as usual, partying as usual and enjoying life as usual just with less entertainment options. The actual state of this country 🤣
September 9, 20223 yr I think that it's perfectly right to call off all football matches this weekend, but still be free to go to a night club and dance and get sh*t faced on booze and drugs. That's what she would have wanted.
September 9, 20223 yr 8 minutes ago, Gol15 said: Potter can have an extra training sesssion then, all good. Yep, that's what I thought as well. At least Potter will have the benefit of having extra time with the players before his first match in charge.
September 9, 20223 yr Ridiculous. Even the grassroots fixtures are off, so my start of the season with the kids is postponed.
September 9, 20223 yr What a stupid decision, all of those fans that have spent hundreds on tickets, travel and hotels just cast aside once again by the FA. Although I imagine Potter won't be too disappointed with the postponement.
