February 1, 20242 yr Preston and Middlesborough is Enzo's level at the moment, the guy has looked awful and makes Jorginho look quick.

He is a decent player but we massively overpaid and I am not convinced he is suited to the Premier League. I think he will go the same way as another one of our Argentinians - Juan Veron.

His contract length means we are in control.

Are we though; there are already murmurs from his side, you already have his dad saying he is unhappy with the club’s position. He is saying he has been telling him to give it one more year. If we are not competitive next year; and not competing for top 4, I can see him handing in a transfer request in 2025. Sure the owners will ask for at least £100m, but remains to be seen if anyone will actually pay it. He looks like the type to take things public and make things messy.

Depends on how stern a line the ownership wish to take. He signed the deal, so what if he hands in a transfer request. He will still have what, 7 years left, what will he do go on striker and play again at 29?
February 1, 20242 yr I think it's quite a first world problem when we have Enzo and Caicedo ( cost more than some of the teams in the league), yet we need a DM to get them do their thing. If there's one area we should be strong, it's the midfield after we spent so much on it, yet we get worked over against just about every decent team. Individually, there are a lot to like about Enzo as a player, but the whole midfield just not working well.
February 1, 20242 yr I am pretty much left with the same feeling whenever he plays. A slow weak player without the ball, and I still fail to see what all the fuss is about with him as I think he is nothing more than a tidy, average player with the ball. He can be as unhappy as he likes, I can't see him going anywhere. At a club where they don't give a sh*t about football, its all about returns on capital investment there is no way they are selling a player that is barely worth half of what they paid for him, amortisation or not.
February 8, 20242 yr A great free kick and generally he and the team look so much better when he plays deeper.
February 8, 20242 yr Played like a World Cup winner last night. Hope he maintains that and he'll convince me he's a legend in the making. That free kick was a worldie.
February 8, 20242 yr As I scrolled through Instafeed I saw a clip of one of my all time favourite players Juan Roman Riquelme I realized Enzo is a bit like him. That is why I am so fond of him as well. Riquelme ran the show in a slower pace football but was an artist at work at his best. Brilliant player.
February 8, 20242 yr We now have a free-kick specialist. That will give our attacking players confidence. Now, Any edge of the box free-kick we have the ability to get a goal. Nice thing to have in your back pocket. Enzo's yellow card. An overt demonstration of loyalty to the club and the fans. Naturally we can't condone such actions. . . but that was endearing tbh. Good to see.

There seems to be a greater focus on the free kick than on his overall performance which I feel was good, not exceptional and still way off his performances last season. He needs to sit deep. Last thing you want is for him to start hogging every dead ball. To put things in perspective; Ward Prowse has a FK conversion rate of around 15%, Trippier is around 18%, and TAA at around 9%. Can’t find the numbers of Enzo but I won’t be surprised if it’s around <5%. He needs to focus on the overall picture not the stats sheet, we had this at the beginning of the season when he wanted to take all FKs & Pens and was stroppy when he wasn’t allowed.

In this era of coaches, it is extemely hard to fit and play riquelme. Pep football require you to be robot (except messi). Klopp will try to accomodate you to some degree but probably not riquelme. Probably, ancelotti is the only coaches who is willing to let go of control and let his player do his thing.

You are absolutely right. In that sense especially Premier League football has made the game to evolve to metrics and pure athletes. Riquelme played an era where an artist had his space. Enzo can't be that but in this new type of football he can be a bit like Riquelme and his some moves and passes show that young Enzo has seen Riquelme play his trade. In videos at least. For me it is a bit sad a limited player like Kyle Walker is a Premier League legend. He is an absolute beast in terms of athletism but horribly limited in terms of skill and brains.

As manager become more more controlling, the room for player to be creative is getting less and less. Manager prefer 11 robot. Btw it is not just manager. In this tacticos era where fans watch YouTube and Twitter analysis, more and more fans prefer robot football. Poch imo is good for Enzo. He is not as loose as ancelotti but not pep's strict football. It was a worldie but his first after quite a few attempts and, given his attempts on goal from open play, I wouldn't count on him. I'd trust C. Palmer before him every time.
February 10, 20242 yr The Barca talk is growing. If we get close to our money back fair enough. What we can't do is keep a player who wants out on the money he's on.

There's no chance Barca can afford him. There's no chance we entertain him leaving without the money on the table. So its just an absolute non story. It's made up nonsense to sell clicks.
February 10, 20242 yr Author Story was community noted from the start so it’s funny seeing sh*tty Barca outlets still trying to create the narrative. Even saw something like we want a straight swap with DeJong lmao.
