Club has protected him from cheating far too long, I wonder why ? 😂

Club bought Mutu in 2003 for a large amount, I was at his debut vs Leicester looked lively, missed a free kick and scored on the rebound. Got on the charlie and the rest is history, fired and club took him to court to try and recoup their losses, I believe in civil court a ruling had Mutu owing Roman 15 mill quid, wonder if he ever paid up ? 🤣

Most clubs would defo take action against him now these charges are official, most clubs are not however run by idiots

I was there too.... Cracking finish!

Nobody wants to see this, for a player whose major asset is pace to miss the next 4 yrs. a real shame.

Unless there’s some sort of insurance policy the club should keep him unpaid until his ban is over then loan him out and see if he has any sell on. It’s hard to take the moral high ground and kick him out when as a club you have concluded it was taken inadvertently. And you might get something back.

In the modern game? Quite easily.

These players are mollycoddled remember. He’s not been blood doping, it’s just another supplement/injection he’ll have been given whilst playing.

This clearly happened on International duty where the Team Dr’s are a lot less, shall we say thorough, than the Clubs.

To Misha it’s just another painkiller etc he’d never know.

It doesn't matter HOW it got into his system, under doping rules you're guilty regardless.

It may well have been entirely innocently , but the positive test can't be overturned. It might lessen any punishment if he could prove it was not intentional, like Sharapova did I think .

Don't like all the slagging off of the guy , it's just an unfortunate incident, who knows what it's like for someone with family and friends in a war zone.

the 'B' sample confirms the findings of the 'A' sample, subsequently leading to sanctions against the athlete, the results of the 'B' sample may not be made public. Only the laboratory, the anti-doping organization, and the athlete or their representatives will be aware of this information.

"This is stipulated in the anti-doping procedures and is not dependent on lawyers. Only the final decision of the anti-doping organization is required to be made public," added the head of the anti-doping center.

How many players have we had that have been described as " Neymar" ?

Who is Mykhailo Mudryk? Chelsea's Ukrainian Neymar

The next Neymar, called 'Messinho': Is Estêvão ready for Chelsea

Chelsea aren't done yet, and are now targeting Gremio's 16-year-old attacking midfielder Gabriel Mec, who has already been compared to Neymar and is viewed as Gremio's best talent since Ronaldinho. Mec, Paez and Estevao

If he gets what Pogba got, less time served already, then he's basically out for next season and then able to play thereafter. I think the club will stand by him, but withhold wages until he is able to return.

Hopefully we can get it reduced to a year-18 months and keep hold of him. Would be a shame to see him go out like this.

That's 18 months of him not developing as a player, 18 months of him forgetting what it's like to play against top level players. It's one of the core reasons why players so often never truly come back from full leg breaks, even they heal good as new.

There was a chance he could have grown into the player we thought we'd signed before, now, it's incredibly unlikely.

It’s quite revealing how many players over the years have been both charged with and found guilty of doping charges and never received a ban.

There is absolutely no way that a charge was going to be avoided but it’s the punishment or indeed lack of it that will tell us far more.

I think he'll get 1,5-2 years. That isn't end of his career.

Not sure how anyone at this stage can estimate or should I say guess as to what the penalty will or won’t be. We simply don’t know any of the circumstances.

All we know is that both samples returned positive results and as a consequence there had to be a charge . It would be churlish for Mudryk team to argue against the test results all his representatives energy and effort will almost certainly be put into mitigation arguments

I remember reading an article recently about Mutu. He actually got a 7 month but as we know he was subsequently sacked.

The two cases don’t appear, save failing drug tests, to be the same.

Mutu went of the rails very early into his Chelsea career and despite warnings from both Claudio and Jose he was completely of the rails and the club carried out their own research/ testing and ultimately were fined because it didn’t follow protocol. He was only caught when official tests were conducted.

There are certain steps that the disciplinary process has to follow. It’s possible that the next steps are already agreed. For instance The charge is admitted and an explanation as to how the drug got into his system has already been accepted by the FA then the only work the Regulatory Commission has to do is agree any sanction which could simply be enhanced monitoring.

On the other hand …….

An additional ban for the gloves. At least get some colour coordinated ones!
