I don't understand the negativity that seems to hang around our fanbase. I always believe we're going to be great next season.

I've said before on here, there's a weird subset who think being the most negative and angry about everything the club does somehow proves they care the most and therefore are the bestest fans ever....its so odd.

Last 20 years we've basically won. Now it stopped. Maybe a bit simplistic but I think that is the main thing. Most fans here Chelsea fan 'products' of that period.

Very similar to society in general , looking for any opportunity to be offended even if it makes no sense.

I actually don't think not being competitive is the biggest problem for most. As Didier said the other day I think a lot of supporters don't recognize the club anymore and that is the big one. We've had seasons where we haven't won anything before like Lampards first season here and most were happy as a pig in sh*t but for me Boehly & Co have torn down a lot of the things that have built this club for decades and there was always going to be strong reactions to that. They've barged in here as some massively arrogant americans and made a whole host of extremely poor decisions that the club will suffer from for years to come.

I agree, but Lukaku's problem is not his defensive work-rate, it's his attacking movement and work-rate that is the issue. Lukaku says he hates playing as as target man but his refusal to move or play facing goal almost necessitates it. He wants to make the same play all the time - receive an early ball from defence, lay it off to a midfielder and run on to a return through pass.  At EPL level, where defenders are generally both fast and strong, he cannot consistently bully defences into giving him the time he needs to make that play. You can bet your last dollar that every single EPL video analyst identified the same pattern.

You can't hide a striker who won't attack. Timo Werner, for all his inability to finish, got into great positions and was a general threat. If Lukaku was working hard and making runs into space off the ball he would be a success but he just doesn't have the inclination.

I agree with your concern regarding rom laziness and lack of movement.

However, I rewatched some of our game last year to see what the problem was and I don't think that is the main problem. I even said signing Haaland who is mobile would have been stupid.

Imo it comes down to how tuchel want us to play. We wanted to keep the ball all the time and attacked through wide overload. Therefore,we need our 9 to constanly move side to side to connect the play and as you said make run. But not running to score, he need run to create space for other. Heck, you could even see kai/timo making overlapping run as if they are fb. This is why our offense looks far more fluid with timo and especially with kai (this is his bread and butter). No way i can see rom doing this constantly and no way in hell I will ask haaland to make 20 run so kai can shoot.

Imo if we played a bit more direct (more through ball and more early cross) and have player closer to rom (pep said city need to have player closer to haaland)  lukaku would have been better.

However if we do so,we will have similar problem to city. More early ball = more ball losses. City solved it by  playing stones and rodri in the middle. We on the other hand had jogavic.

For once in this year, we agree

You're sort of right as what showed during the end of his and Mou's tenure (where both deserved the sacked under every metric) that there's a section of the fanbase that would back a club legend regardless of the depths he plunges too but absolutely not was it most, many were turning on the 'academy eight' and Lampard pretty quickly even when they were overachieving expectations.

Sarri finished 3rd and never won round atleast half the fanbase, Tuchel only managed it because of the UCL win.

Reading about Todd's visit to the dressing room, I'm wondering how much difference it will make if he carries on like that...

I mean is the Manager in charge or are there senior players there thinking that they'll talk to Todd if they don't like something?

Hard place to come and be the Manager with that going on... let alone the bloated squad.

Think I heard about Roman visiting the dressing room once, after we won the CL was it.

Todd Broely, rolling into the dressing room before KO with several half-cut VIPs.

Heard on numerous podcasts that Roman was regularly in the dressing room, especially in the early days. Obviously it waned as the older he got. But it’s not unusual for owners to be there. Even more so in American sports.

I bet that was menacing as hell.

Ken Bates used to go in to changing rooms to tell managers who to play 😅

Well well well. Everyone reporting Pochettino is about to sign. Bookies have it at 1/16 on. Guessing there might be some mixed opinions about this!

Strange when Romano is reporting its in final stages.

Understand both Chelsea and Pochettino now confident in a full (and signed) agreement very soon. Talks have been described as positive and in-depth. No PSG component to complicate matters, either financially or in terms of timeline. https://t.co/AptgEuUC1w

It's like bringing Benitez in all over again.

Surprised you have that view Scott. I don't see it that way at all.
