Like I said, the past 12 months has created such a disconnect between the team and the fans. Poch so far hasn't done anything to change that. So far its as if he's simply taken the torch off Potter, hence the booing.

Feela like the club was ripped away in to a panic buy and we have the ownership equivalent of Lukaku....

We had 2 shots on target with 77% possession. They had 3 on target. We did have loads of shots overall though
September 3, 20232 yr Not the most encouraging post match presser. The way he had us playing during pre-season against Prem opposition had me convinced we had turned a corner, only for us to revert to type once the actual season started. I know we've had some injuries but to come away with just 4 points out of our first 4 fixtures, I can see why it's difficult to remain optimistic about where this is all headed.
September 3, 20232 yr It's embarrassing. Spurs already looking the deal with Ange and Liverpool giving us the finger performance wise after we spent millions in the whole Caicedo/Lavia debacle.
September 3, 20232 yr For the life of me I can't work out why we played with one formation in pre season and now play with this insane set up that stifles us in attack. I'm so so tired of us playing 5 defenders. It's been years of this now. Get Chilwell at LB, put Mudryk, Palmer and Sterling behind Jackson. It genuinely can't be worse than what we've had the first 4 games.

Most of the players that made us look exciting and decent in pre-season are either injured, or have gone on loan 🙂
September 3, 20232 yr I haven't written off the season by any means. But I think we're all disappointed at the sh*thouse tactics deployed by Poch, he's the one manager I never expected it from and it's shocked me quite frankly. If he keeps persisting with these tactics we may as well have just gone for the typical manager type we used to, the Tuchels, the Conte's. Why waste time on development when we're more interested in not conceding too many goals and sacrificing our wide range of young attackers for it in the process. pre-season looked excellent and we were so on track for a nice positive season, I know Nkunku's injury didn't help, but he's an injury-prone player, we should've expected that. We can't just drop the way we play because of him, that's ridiculous... I just don't understand what it is about this club, is there a hidden clause in the contract that forces managers to play in the most sh*thouse way possible?? At this point if Guardiola ever came here I'm half expecting he would do the exact same thing. Edited September 3, 20232 yr by Victor90
September 3, 20232 yr Is there any chance that Pochettino feels obligated to play both Disasi and Colwill, but doesn't feel they're ready to play as a straight partnership without Silva? Edited September 3, 20232 yr by Fatty_Speeding

We have pundits with affiliations to rival clubs feel sorry for us being a "banter club". It has gotten to the point where they are not laughing at us, but feeling sorry for us. We have spent a billion quid and they feel sorry for us?! That is how badly we have been mismanaged.
September 3, 20232 yr I really hope our fanbase and the club are more aligned with the chances and expectations with this group. It seems they are not. Even in this forum people are knee jerking after a loss. I fully expect us to lose at least 10 Prem games this season. Media: 1bn Pound team Chelsea: we are building a long term project with young talented players Fans: hopefully with Chelsea on this. I hate when people here who follow how and why we do things go into that media agenda that itself is just a shallow reflection on what we do. 1bn Pound Chelsea misery sells papers.

How do you feel about losing 18-20 games? We aren't on track to lose 10, we're on track to lose double that. I'm all for letting the project take time to come through, but the way we've been set up seems to be without any logic. If Poch puts out 4-2-3-1, with players in their actual positions, and we lose, then I'd accept it as part of the process. But not this.

Aye on track for about a 33 to 35 point haul based on our average from our first 4 games, as well as 16 to 17 losses.

I'm very angry at the owners not the players because I expected this loss just as I expected to lose 15 games before the season started and I expect to lose 15 next season and the season after. Signing a bunch of average young players for big money and hoping not expecting they'll magically be a competitive squad in a few years isn't a project and it isn't how any serious club conducts business. It isn't that this squad is worth 1b it's that we've spent 1bn on such poor players we have a squad that has no chance of competing in either the short or the long term because it isn't like we've even signed top young talents there isn't anyone other than Enzo or Caciedo you can really see reaching the top level and we paid world record fees for both. We've gone for the quantity over quality approach and somehow spent £30m a piece on a bunch of tier 3 prospects. feels like we've sold the house to buy lottery tickets. What they don't realise is that you can also play a 442 with 7 defenders and 3 attackers but it won't be very good.

They just need time and positive experiences together. Mudryk for example have played 10 games for us or thereabouts. Every game with different players I also assume.

September 3, 20232 yr Our players don't even know each other, let alone know each others strengths and weaknesses . It takes time to form partnerships and understanding. A consistent system and player selection is yet to materialise, I hope it will eventually come good, but buying Palmer at the last minute which Poch says he didn't know was happening doesn't look good for getting a settled team.
September 3, 20232 yr We were buying a team for the future for the last 2 windows, so it may take years before it start to pay dividends. It's the approach the boss took, and none of us could do a damn about it. Poch had good success playing with 3 at the back. He probably think it's the best way to get results when the team isn't settled, so got trust him with that.

Because there's been no change since preseason. It can be worse if what you are suggesting is starting a young signing immediately after joining; and relying on a guy who's neither physically fit, coming back from injury, nor fit for purpose at this point. Palmer will start, Madueke will claw back his fitness and start, that time just wasn't this weekend. What's the point of judging the manager's choices while his options are limited? I highly doubt Chilwell gets a look-in at LW once Madueke and Broja are fully fit - and Palmer is acclimated.
