August 25, 20232 yr Happy weekend folks. Highlights for me 1. Jackson getting a hugely deserved goal. The lad puts in a better shift then Apu Nahasapeemapetilon 2. Sterling, two great performances back to back. 3. Enzo, first class. My MOTM. Class apart in terns of his distribution 4. Luton fans, first class from start to finish 5. Ziyech, probably the most effective contribution from him in three seasons
August 25, 20232 yr Much better 2nd half. Been a long time since we won by 3 goals. Sterling has been fantastic these last 2 games, hopefully get our buisness done and some players back, so we can start to see the team shape up, as it looks like a bit of a patch job at the moment, more than the basis of a long term team. Thanks Chels, the weekend is not ruined!
August 25, 20232 yr Love it! I’m glad Nico got his goal, he can now relax and be even more deadly. Enzo… worth every penny and will only get better, can’t believe he is only 22. We might have underpaid for him! Moises showed glimpses of what he has up his sleeve, brilliant tackling and quick, precise progressive passing. Come on Chels!
August 25, 20232 yr NICOLAS JACKSON. He has an aura about him that I’ve not seen since Drogba. There’s something about his whole persona. He is going to lead us to great things!
August 25, 20232 yr Moises Caicedo vs Luton : 58/60 passes completed 100% tackle success rate 100% long ball success rate 3 interceptions 2 blocks 6/10 total duels won
August 25, 20232 yr Left Side, Non Existent Basically, Stop With Chilwell As A LW And Colwill As A Flex LCB/LB Go Back To 4 At The Back, If You Play Gallagher, Swap Him And Enzo Please, Enzo Is Better Suited Dictating Play Than The Further Forward Midfielder Still Think Against Better Teams We Ain't Really Doing Much With Just Sterling And Jackson Up Top

August 25, 20232 yr It's only Luton though happy to get our first win, hopefully the start of good things to come.

To me it looks like a very traditional back 3. Chilwell is not playing like a wingback though. He's a full blown winger. Colwill is playing like a conservative LB. Like Pep had City play last season for example. He's also taking the throw ins, not Chilwell. On the other side Gusto is taking them. And Disasis positioning is also different to Colwills while Silva isn't playing central but left. Also look at the average positions of the players of the 3 games. Chilwell is super high up in all three of them. It's a bit of a hybrid system, but Chilwell has very few defensive duties when compared to Gusto. To me it's 4 at the back with Colwill playing a conservative full back.
August 25, 20232 yr Sanchez - 6 - Never really had much to do, easy game for him. Gusto - 6 - A bit weak at times, but his assist for Sterling was very good. Disasi - 6 - Never had much to do Silve - 6 - Easy for him, was there to clean up the mess. Colwill - 6 - Same as Disasi, but much better on the ball. Chilwell - 5 - Not his best game. Still feels like he hasn't quite got going this season. Probably should have had an assist late on. Caicedo - 6 - Sloppy start but grew into the game. Love his confidence to pass through the lines, I hope to see a lot of this throughout the season. Enzo - 8 - Class player. Touch play, passing, movement, awareness, everything we need in midfield. Gallagher - 6 - A mixed bag. I do think he looks better once he gets into attacking positions. I'm never sure what is going to happen when he is playing deeper. Sterling - 8 - 2 goals and an assist, first goal was world class. Lost his way a bit at the start of the second half, but got back up to speed again just before his 2nd goal. The run of form he is in is the best I have seen in years. Jackson - 7 - He's a constant nuisance for defenders, I haven't seen that since Costa. Some of his touches weren't coming off tonight, but his movement and work rate is invaluable. He's not a Lukaku, Morata, or Aubameyang, 3 players that are useless when they aren't scoring, he gives us much more than they ever could.
August 25, 20232 yr Sanchez - 5 - didn't do much Gusto - 7 - good assist Disasi/Silva/colwill - 6 - decent but didn't need to do much either Chilwell - 5 - should have scored, got into some good positions not sure why he passed to sterling Caicedo - 6.5 - grew into the game, still lacking a bit of match fitness but very good at interceptions etc Enzo - 8 - rolls Royce of a midfielder he is worth double of what we paid Gallagher - 5.5 - lost the ball sometimes and misplaced some passes, don't really fancy his first touch either. Sterling - 8.5 - excellent movement and dribbling, lost the ball sometimes but kept trying and good finishing for 2 goals looks like his best Jackson - 8 - beast of a striker worth every penny absolutely good in terms of work rate and got his goal! Happy for him and needs to keep working hard very good in pressing from the front. Imo we need more goal threat and maybe start using 4 at the back now with caicedo / lavia back. Stop using gallagher as a defensive mid as it doesn't really work
August 25, 20232 yr I get to fully enjoy a weekend where Chelsea played! A rare event in recent times. Not sure sure how much of that was a shift in play style as the second half went on and how much was Lufton tiring themselves out but it was some promising football compared to the slow overworked football we had been playing up until then.

I think he offered a lot going forward in addition to the assists and he also half-blocked Luton's great chance around 60 minutes in - made it into an easy save for Sanchez. Deserves at least a 7 I think.
August 25, 20232 yr I get emotions run high during games but let's give this team at least a season working with the manager. So many people moaning about this and that, it's sad with only 3 games in. Some are kids and yeah a few are full grown men but ultimately this is a very young AND inexperienced team. How many times have they played together in the PL and even in the Chelsea team. Connor, what a player though. To the cause I mean. The type you want to go into battle with. I hope he is not sold cos those are the types of players you want in your team. Loves the club and leaves it all on the pitch, might not seem a talent to some but he's worth his weight in gold when it comes to his energy, enthusiasm and dedication. Well played, lots to be improved on but more than a good starting point. And not based on Luton performance but based on the game against a title contender, a perennially tricky derby game with West Ham and today's game against perhaps the League fodder team.

August 25, 20232 yr I admit to having only read this last page, but is this a match thread? Some positivity, someone pinch me!
