August 25, 20232 yr Wasn't able to watch because I was driving home and then getting the kids ready so we could go play soccer. Glad to see they got the win, gives me a bit of confidence that we can avoid relegation at least. But they need to start recording wins against mid table teams.
August 25, 20232 yr Good result and good to see Sterling and Jackson on the board. Nice to see Sterling in particular confident and firing.
August 25, 20232 yr I think Sterling's improvement must surely be down to Pochettino and for me that is a good sign. I like Jackson too.
August 25, 20232 yr I love Enzos role in that last goal. Controls the ball, comes under a bit of pressure but stays calm and plays Sterling into the space. Simple but effective.
August 25, 20232 yr Gusto really growing into a good chelsea player. Enzo looked good but Gallagher does such a lot of good work despite one bad pass. Caicedo will also play a bigger role as time goes on. Chilwell has played better and Diasi doesn’t completely convince on the ball.

With regards to Disasi he was brought in to improve our coverage in central defense. Not sure he will necessarily be as regular a starter once players return from injury. For example Badiashile would probably start ahead of him when fit.
August 25, 20232 yr Watched in pub in Cheltenham where I grew up w a chap ‘Sully’ who I went to school with and Chelsea games a lot, havent seen him for 43 years good performance tonight especially Sterling who seems to out to prove all the doubters including me wrong Ive an awful memor , my mate says we used to bunk off school in the 70s on a regular basis to go midweek games at the bridge and I used to forge the absentee notes from our parents 😂 . One time and I do recall this we got off the bus at Victoria headed to the Tube and bumped into our headmaster, we were bricking it as thought we’d get the cane the next day but he said nothing ! 😮💨

August 26, 20232 yr Credit to Sterling. He was a level above anyone else tonight, turning the match from a draw in to a handsome win. For large parts I thought we were playing too safe. Potterball like. Resisted a few chances to bomb forward and play the ball back instead. I can see why @Argodoes not fancy Enzo in the 10. A lot of his game was good today but his shooting leaves a lot to be desired. Maybe similar to Kova that way. Result was what we needed. Worst performance of the season arguably, yet the only win. Hopefully we can buildn on this and both play well and win.

August 26, 20232 yr I've missed that winning feeling. Good to see Sterling and Jackson get on the scoresheet. Will boost the confidence of both players.

August 26, 20232 yr Decent performance overall. We played really well in spells to be fair. The 3-0 win will hopefully give confidence to the whole squad and back room staff. Sterling looked a player again and at times his mazy runs reminded me of ‘Wee Pat’ 40 years ago. Old Git that I am. Glad to see Jackson getting off the mark, in a competitive game. He looks a good striker and offers so much more than we’ve had recently from strikers. Enzo and Gallacher both looked good in midfield.
August 26, 20232 yr A gem from the commentary of the whole match video on the website : "Silva, the only Chelsea player who was alive the last time Luton were in the Premier League ... " LOL
August 26, 20232 yr Ok, So I must not get carried away as it was only Luton Town, everyone's favourites for relegation, BUT the all round performance was so much better in every department. We have now played pretty well in THREE consecutive games and I now believe that we are improving and that the results will come. Pochettino is definitely having a positive effect on the Group, but especially Sterling, who I am now very glad we kept 😉

August 26, 20232 yr I’m still not totally convinced but some good signs, and night and day from the end of last season. It’s not a negative slant so much, but without the Razza, it would’ve definitely been a different game! I also think that West Ham game kicked us a bit, so was probably a bit dodgy coming off the back of that. I keep seeing that Chilwell miss in my minds eye, how embarrassing for him!

He didn't miss though, just chose to pass when he should have shot.
