Victor Moses

Featured Replies

I remember when he battered Liverpool at the Bridge, scoring a belter and he scored a superb chip that was incorrectly ruled offside that day.

Also who can forget that stunner against Wigan and the way he played against Lazio in his first run here.

Just opened this and went straight to the last post... Victor Moses tormented Liverpool, scored a superb chip and scored a belter against Wigan? :D

"I just want to help Stoke as best as I can to finish as high as I can. As I've said before, I'm still a Chelsea player. I'm here to do a professional job for Stoke. I will do my best to help Stoke finish in the top eight. That's my aim.

"It's been nice to hear the manager say he'd like me to stay. He's a great manager and he's done well for this club. Before I came here I spoke to him and it looked like the club was heading in the right direction. That's the main reason I came here on loan.

"I'm enjoying my football here and the style of play suits me."

I think he's done well at Stoke. Personally I think he could still have done a job for us, we could and maybe should have recalled him from Liverpool rather than buying Salah.

Similar situation this January, we've let two wingers leave and are having an adjustment period for the new signing, Moses could have been useful to have around again.

He's never going to be a regular starter for us but I do feel he could have been a useful option when looking at the overall contributions of KDB, Salah and Cuadrado (to date).

Anyone know what happened to this guy? He's probably a better option on the right wing than Cuadrado. He should have returned from his loan, and there haven't been any indication he'll be sold or loaned out again.

I thought we'd sold him to Stoke for some reason, honestly he performed better on the wing for us than either Salah or Cuadrado have.

Mark Hughes quoted in a stoke press conference as saying:

"I think Chelsea have taken a view on Victor Moses and their thinking is that they would like to keep him. He did well for us last year"

I would give Moses another chance. Much prefer him to Cuadrado given what we've seen so far. Home grown; knows the EPL; gives it a go. Why not?

I don't think we should use Cuadrado as the benchmark to get into our squad. What we should do is sell both Cuadrado and Salah asap, while we can still get our money back. That makes room for Pedro, who can cover both sides and challange Willian.

There'd be a beautiful irony in £60m odds worth of right wingers have come and gone at the club and then us turning to Moses who was here all along.

Would rather salah and cuadrado instead of Moses. I think Stoke is around his level tbh. He wasn't even stokes best attacker last year.

What have Salah or Cuadrado proven (in the PL)? I think Moses is a pretty good backup. He was decent for us in the 12/13 season, and was useful for Stoke as well last season. He's a decent back up truth be told, a much better option than Salah or Cuadrado

We should never have got rid of Schurrle. He was the ideal winger for us. It's just a shame that Jose didn't rate him massively and had issues with his defensive work.

I absolutely love Schurrle, but he was far from ideal for us. He is a limited player who excels at movement off the ball / making diagonal runs in behind a defence, qualities that are nullified against the packed defences we usually come up against. He wasn't good at the things you traditionally expect from a winger i.e. dribbling in tight spaces, going past a player, crossing etc. He tried his hardest at defending but he was awful at it. If he wasn't getting in behind and scoring, he offered nothing - pretty much the exact opposite of Willian, who offers everything but end product.

I do think Jose had high hopes for him post-World Cup, which is probably why we didn't even consider the likes of Sanchez. I think he started the first couple of games of the season and did alright, but I remember him being atrocious in the game against Swansea where we massively struggled in the 1st half. He was subbed at half-time, and we completely dominated the second half, and then the mystery illness took over and he didn't do enough to justify his selection thereafter.

Maybe we could have tried using him as a second striker, the way Atletico use Griezmann, but he wasn't good enough technically to consistently start on the wings for us - certainly not the right-wing. Think he's destined to be a great super-sub type player, but unfortunately, he didn't want to accept that role with us.

I'll still always root for him because he seemed like a very likeable guy with a great attitude and a genuine affection for our club, but being better than Salah and Cuadrado does not make him the answer to our RW woes.

How many times have each of them played in the premiership? Salah has done pretty well in the champions league and cuadrado has done well in Italy and at international level. I think both a calibre above Moses, who did okay for us, but is a very limited footballer. Liverpool didn't deem him good enough for a squad player, so why should we?

I liked Moses in his season with us.

He was behind Mata, Oscar and Hazard for a starting place in the attacking three.  Those three are considerably better footballers than he is, but I also though Moses brought a lot to the team in his own way.  He was more athletic – bigger, stronger and faster – certainly than Mata and Oscar, and that gave us more threat on the break.  I also recall him being decent at winning headers and getting a few headed goals for us, which is quite a different threat to our starting front three – then and now.

But I think we have more athleticism in our team now than we did last time he played with us.  Willian is probably a better athlete than Moses and is a much better footballer.  With Willian and Hazard in the team now I don’t feel that we’re lacking pace in the attacking three the way we did three years ago.  If we were to bring Moses on for the last half hour in a game now I don’t think he would be bringing a much needed injection of pace the way he did last time.  We’d likely be replacing pace with pace now.  Maybe we’d get a fresh pair of legs and an improved ability at contesting headers, but he’d be less capable with the ball at his feet than whoever he replaced.

I’m open to a return for him, especially as a home grown player.  I just think as a squad we’re much better covered for the things that Moses brings than we were last time.
