November 6, 20178 yr I'm with those who never really understood what his role was (actually, nobody on here understood that, some just thought they did) and on that basis, this isn't really a reason to rejoice. If anything, it's probably cause for concern as this could mean more instability behind the scenes. As much as some bad/odd signings have happened under his tenure, there have been some good ones too. And of them, some worked out at Chelsea and some others have gone on to prove that they ought to have at least had the chance at Chelsea. Who's fault is that - who knows? Anyway, same old same old down at the Bridge - it's as if it's barely news worthy.

When looking at it calmly, she's great at selling them but buying them at cheap prices isn't exactly her forte is all. In this aspect, I don't see how she can be criticized all that much.

November 6, 20178 yr Like others have said never really understood his exact role...... buying and selling players or just recommending players to Roman.... IMO just glad he has gone if he is responsible for some of the younger players going. Makes you wonder weather Conte has laid down the guantlet to Roman as it's him or me option
November 6, 20178 yr Seems like there is a bit of unsettlment behind the scenes. Emanalo seemed influencial and pretty powerful at the club (from the outside). So resigning means something must have go on.
November 6, 20178 yr My guess is that it has to do with control/power over club transfers and personnel, he wanted to quit when Jose came probably because he knew Jose would want full control, making his job less important or obsolete. With the Luiz situation, Conte has probably given Roman/the board a decision to make; give Conte full control or continue to have Emenalo run things.

Please tell me a person who has 10 years of experience and Emenalo's track record. He was also a person Roman trusted. Not saying he was perfect in his job (i actually don't eveb know all his responsibilities) but he is an experienced person who brought us Eden for example. Not a Emanalo hater or anything, but Hazard coming here was purely Hazard. Every top side in the world was in for him, I'm not sure how Emanalo gets's praised for that. If anything you should praise Joe Cole for telling him Chelsea is a good option for development while he was playing with him at Lillie
November 6, 20178 yr I am convinced that Conte has won the day with Emanalo's "resignation" I feel certain that Antonio has told the Club that either he has full control over all team matters, ins and outs, loans, coaching staff etc or he was going to walk and maybe not even wait for the end of the Season. Luiz may be the catalyst to this happening today. Conte didn't want him and didn't buy him and he has left him out as a physical V sign to those that did. I think that Roman is learning
November 6, 20178 yr Does this suggest that Conte is here for the long haul then? Hardly worth Emanalo or others quitting if Conte's supposedly going this summer (as a lot of pundits have claimed)?

Better examples would be Azp or something. Even then there were still some major duds. If it was his decisions to enter seasons with threadbare squads then there is a reason I'd be happy he is leaving.

Wasn't he promoted to director in 2010/11 ? And since Carlo's 2nd season we've had a very thin squad I thought. Although luckily we haven't been plagued with injuries until this very season.

One of Roman's allies quitting wont go down too well i imagine. However, he has completed his coaching badges and licenses so maybe he is just after a manager job somewhere? Pure speculation at this point obviously until we know more. Any luck West Scum united lol
November 6, 20178 yr Interesting.......I have long defended Emanalo as he was a scapegoat and now I'm pleasantly keen to see how our future unfolds. If he was as bad as the majority made him out to be, I fully expect us to sign all our transfer targets which will lead us to romp to the title. No more scapegoats, hooooraaaay!
November 6, 20178 yr Beyond total speculation, I've no idea how much or little influence he's directly had on the club. Beyond the "the individual" speech he's largely kept out of the spotlight, as you'd expect. Hopefully there's no negative effect in our future transfer dealings, as by and large they've been good while he's been in the role. Presumably he's had some influence in our success while here, so thanks and good luck elsewhere.
November 6, 20178 yr Wow, just read the news, I did not see that coming. No idea what to make of it, except I'm looking forward to the next few transfer windows "The board" will still be there to get the blame for us not signing whatever huge name for £200 million
November 6, 20178 yr Of course the plastics come out to celebrate. It is sad to see a long serving member of Chelsea leave, but I am actually a Chelsea fan.

The 2012/13, Oscar played almost 65 matches because we didn’t have too many midfielders. I wonder if that hindered his development. I’m not sure if the coach of the backroom staff prefer smaller squads but we always seem to be lacking in terms of squad rotation.

Because the problem is that we decide to loan out far too many players that sometimes we coul dhave just had at the squad training with us because they hardly get to play on the team they're loaned too anyway
November 6, 20178 yr http://www.chelseafc.com/news/latest-news/2017/11/chelsea-tv-exclusive--emenalo-on-standing-down.html?extcmp=SOCIA_FB_ENG "It is something I have been thinking about for quite some time now and it is something I have discussed with my family and they understand the reasons and the timing for wanting to step aside. But this is not a knee-jerk reaction or decision, it has been on my mind and it has been thoroughly discussed amongst friends and colleagues that this is what I wanted to do..."
