Guy is injured all the time. It's right to move him on. I don't think he'll ever be back to his former self now.

Injured a lot, yes. Right time to move him on? Arguable but his decision, not ours apparently. Never back to his former self? Well that last bit is blatantly untrue. You only need to go back a month or so and re-watch his come back game against Liverpool. All the months out and surgery. It was like it never happened. Straight back in with a MOTM performance and playing like he nearly always does. Mr. Consistent. And our only truly World class player.

Boy, are we gonna miss him.

We already did, just have to see last season as to how much we missed him in most games.

I'm still thinking he can be a very good squad player. Having him on bench and be replacement for Enzo or any other starter is a quality backup even with all his injuries.

Cash plays their part in this deal, 100M per season as a paycheck for his age and current form it's crazy to deny the offer ..

But if we got any positive plan in building the squad and positive football incoming, I believe we could keep him. The question is if we wanted or not.

FIFA and UEFA should ban players from participating in the World Cup and European Championship if they move to Saudi Arabia

but for Kante i get it, for his religion

i don't see what he would do with 100 million though, maybe he will give a lot of it to charity

Fat chance. Both are in bed with the Saudis. All boils down to money.

We need a CM that is going to match his influence. Not necessarily as an aggressive ball winner, but someone who's attributes can revolutionize our midfield in the same manner he did.

All the more reason to get Caicedo then.

We should not be dealing with Brighton anymore.

Forget the Potter stuff. They demanded 62mill for Cucurella, valued Colwill at only 30mill and now want a package of 80mill for Moises.

All the while they cheerfully sell Mac Allister to pool for 35mill.

They are mugging us off at every turn and we are letting them.

MacAllister had a release clause though, and its a total package of £55m according to Ornstein.

Caicedo doesn't. All he has is a verbal agreement and given his agent is a source for most journalists we can anticipate near the quoted £70m is enough for Brighton to accept.

Given that though how much do you think Brighton would be quoting us if it was us trying to buy Colwill from them right now? Me thinks more than 70mill and they offered us 30mill.

If true, it doesn't come as a massive surprise given his not-so-recent fragility. Sad for him, if true.

Quite telling sadly that no other top club is linked to him.

If the Saudi's are worried about his fitness, maybe they can pay him £2m per match instead of the £100m a year or something LOL. 7 games a year will still equate to a decent salary 🙂

Those calling for us to keep him, whilst I get the sentiment, it's telling with the lack of Elite European interest.

He is extremely reliant on his work rate, agility and stamina. If he comes through the injuries he currently has and is 70% of the player he was then you could argue to keep him. But the reality is that the next injury is only just around the corner and there's likely going to be a continual regression from now until he retires.

#At this stage, if he had 1-2 years left on his contract you wouldn't be getting rid of him. But if we're talking of renewing and him wanting longer than that (I have no idea if this is true or not), it would be a massive risk at a time when we can not afford to get much more wrong.

You can`t blame Brighton for Boehly overpaying for Cucurella or going for Potter. Why wouldn`t they take the money? I think it`s also pretty hard to say what Colwill`s value is. He is obviously very talented but also inexperienced, young and the hype around him is mostly based on half a season playing in a well working system. All the Brighton players looked better than they are last season. Taking players like Caicedo or Colwill out of their system and putting them at Chelsea is going to make them appear drastically worse. We already experienced this with Cucurella. Which is also why I am very hesitant about spending big for Caicedo.

They're having a laugh with a £30m bid for Colwill, as you know full well that if he was a Brighton player his fee would be at least double that to take him away from them.

I'd imagine they know that but are trying to strengthen their negotiating position if we are going to engage in talks for Caicedo.

Still, if they're going to play as hard as they do for parting with their assets, they can't complain if other teams start pushing back

I read yesterday they are up to £40m.
