Guess Sarri saw the other dimensions he can bring to the team and not just restrict him to one role.

but but he is a DM - surprised no one posted what Zola said about Kante the other day

Zola knowns nothing of what he's talking about Kante is a DM and that's final, the pundits and fans says he is so he absolutely is, they know far more than Kante and the manager even though Kante has never played as a DM in his career.

Alan Smith was on it on the yank stream I was watching. He was surprised to see kante not being the sitting midfielder and thought that would just be temporary.

These pundits just don't get it!

I love having this debate with people. Then asking what position did drinkwater and matic play. The ongoing joke with kante was that he played all round the park, he had endless energy, so it looked like there was 2 players. That isn't a holding midfielder!

I know a lot of fans wont want to hear this, but i feel sarri has helped Kante become an even better player, the confidence he plays with in the final 3rd is fantastic, and he has really improved his range of passing.

Cant believe how good he was, especially considering he hasnt played for 3 months! The guy is superhuman.

Last night was one of the most impressive performances I have seen from Kante. His passing, dribbling, movement, tackling, it was almost perfect. He looked more comfortable running forward than I have ever seen him.

just to enhance your post, I will provide some video evidence

He is much more confident attacking and running with the ball and making attacking forward passes, he still did these before but the hesitation in decision making is gone. I think his last performance was better than how he played under Sarri though, everyone's level of passing and attacking football has been raised this season and we have to give credit to Lamps as well.

Lamps deserves credit no doubt, although Kante has only worked under him a week or so.

Excuting times for the midfielders though, i suspect all of them will benefit from having Lamps and also Makelele at the club.

The quicker style of play will bring the best out of him again i think. Last season you felt like we passed ourselves to death on several occasions but now there is much more of a forward momentum in our play which will suit Kante greatly.

I think the more direct style will suit most of the players to be honest. Its going to be interesting to see how we play against a packed defence though, because they were usually the games when kovacic, kante, and jorginho received the most criticism.

It's not just the quicker style of play, it is also that Lampard has given licence to commit more players in front of the ball than Sarri ever did. As a result we have looked far more exciting and threatening than we did last season. I think this will be even more apparent when we get James, RLC and CHO back. Just need to finish more of the openings we are creating.

He might as well go into our greatest XI now because he'll definately be there in 2023. We could extend his contract to 2053 and he'll still be going. So lucky to have him, we absolutely ripped Leicester off.

The only World Class player in our team at the minute, was flabbergasted with some people suggesting during pre-season to drop him and play Jorginho and Kova as the Midfield 2. He would be my first name on the Team Sheet regardless of opposition.

He's an unbelievable player. So much for being 'injured' the other night!

It's alarming though, how frail we look without him- our midfield had gaping holes in it during the United match. People make jokes about Kante being two players, but he actually is. The sheer amount of energy, tackling and quick passing he showcased against Liverpool meant they struggled to keep hold of the ball at times because of his high-energy pressing.

Our best player and world class. He will be impossible to replace, though I am confident he will finish his career with us.
