January 31, 20215 yr I was surprised when he started today. Credit where it’s due, He played well and scored a great goal.
January 31, 20215 yr What a great goal. Deserves full credit, and not to take away from that, but he has that in his locker. Doesn't score many tap ins, and has some great goals we can look back on. For all his defensive concerns, we do tend to win more often when he plays!
January 31, 20215 yr He’s still a terrible left back but a fine wing back. His performance today doesn’t surprise me, I just hope to god that he never play as a left back again.
January 31, 20215 yr He's got Ivanovic vibes about him when it comes to getting goals. Ivanovic used to score about 5/6 goals a season as a fullback it was mad, That control and volley was sublime, he's got that stuff in his locker. That chance Chilwell had against Wolves, Alonso would've put that away.
January 31, 20215 yr Wasn’t sure about playing the back 3 against Burnley at home but it really does get the best out of a lot of our players Alonso included whilst a poor left back he’s a very good wing back and always a goal threat, took his goal lovely showed timo and the forwards how it’s donez
January 31, 20215 yr Alonso has proved time and time again he is a good wing back but a sh*te full back. If he is played as a full back and makes an arse of it then the criticism is more on the manager than the player. He was frozen our under Lampard and his Chelsea career looked over but clean slate and second chance for him now. If Tuchel sticks with three at back approach then he will be getting a lot more game time.
February 1, 20215 yr Best position for Alonso is wing back. And I know this is controversial but I would have him ahead of chilly (for now). he always has a goal in him when he plays LWB plus he adds more advantage to defending dead balls with his height

Back 3, we should stick with playing Alonso.
February 1, 20215 yr Leicester pissing themselves for the fee they got for Chilwell...No better than what we had ffs

February 1, 20215 yr At least we get to see his fantastic free kicks again hopefully. Id say he's the best free kick taker iv'e seen for Chelsea in my life time.

February 15, 20215 yr Chilly has his work cut out to oust a re-juvenated Alonso, he has clicked a good understanding with Werner down the left
February 15, 20215 yr I don't think Alonso was great tonight in the second half. He gave the ball away a lot, which put us under a bit of pressure at times. But yes his interplay with Werner looked good in the first half, and as a wingback he is ahead of Chilwell at the moment. Still, I don't think he's untouchable for TT at the moment.
February 15, 20215 yr Chilwell is not average LWB he's a good LB. Alonso is world class wing back and average LB that's the big difference with him and Chilwell, so unless Chilwell can guarantee you 5 to 6 goals ( and Alonso goals are normally big goals) he's definitely struggling getting back ahead of Alonso. Lampard let his pride banish Alonso who probably would have helped him

In that formation Chilwell is the first in line for the LB...

February 15, 20215 yr As much as i still miss Lamps, it was criminal to banish Alonso. At the very least he is better than Emerson. And in our last title win, and under Sarri he was phenomenonal in a back 5.

It's the way he plays the role that sets him apart from the typical wingbacks.
