Happy First Transfer Window Day, everyone. Hope you all wake up to plenty of presents under the Transfer Window Tree. Wonder what big announcement our club will give us today. If Chelsea is anything like that old aunt we never see or hear from until Christmas, it'll probably be the news that Lipton will become the official tea bag for 2017-18 :wink:

    What an exciting day, working all day, come home and see we've announced a free goal keeper, ecstatic. Surely we'll be busy next week, pre season starts July 22nd.

    If we haven't bought in players by this time next week, that is when i will be a bit concerned. We have sold or released 6 players in the last 6 months and only 1 of those players have been replaced, and it was easy because it was a free transfer. We have the Champions League next season, i was hoping for a bigger squad, not a smaller one. It was fine last season because we only really had the League and FA Cup to deal with, but with the Champions League, we need a big squad to compete.

    I'm not sure i understand the logic behind getting rid of so many players before bringing new ones in, it leaves us in a tricky position. Clubs could demand more money from us because they know we have the money and will be desperate to find replacements, or they could even pull out of any potential deal because they don't want to sell, and that really would leave us in the sh*t.

    Right now, i am a bit twitchy, but mostly calm. If our squad wasn't so thin then i would be fine with our situation. I gotta say, i'm not a fan of our sell before we buy strategy, seeing such a thin squad with only sh*tty media rumours to go on for replacements doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.

    I wasn't expecting 5 signings today, but i was hopeful we would be beyond the negotiating phase with our replacements by now. Maybe we are already past that point, but it would put my mind at ease if our replacements were already confirmed rather than still be rumours.

    I agree. It creates a lose-lose situation that we can't afford as a club fighting for honours.

    It's sad that the club behaves like this after experiencing at least 2 failed summers right after winning the Prem.
