I'm not saying he's worth the money. Frankly nobody is. I'm just saying I disagree with the he's just a kid, nobody knows if he's the real deal etc etc. I personally hope a financial crisis hits football and/or strict financial limits are imposed worldwide and the finance levels return to what they were 10 or so years ago. I'd prefer a football world that was less commercial, the biggest transfer fees were near the £50m mark for the absolute stars and the best players were paid £100k a week.

Transfer cap and salary cap. Minimum would be salary cap
July 26, 20178 yr This aged well.... remember Arsenal triumphantly parading this multiple contract renewal as the British backbone their club would be built on for the next 10 years.....

Moral issues aside, I can't see how the current model can be sustained. I don't know what happened to FFP. I don't know if it's even a thing these days, in practice.

Haha lol. Of those 5, 1 is a permacrock, 2 are Championship-level players, 1 is ok-ish and 1 is shifted around all over the place in their 1st team.

This can unfortunately ONLY happen if such restrictions were placed in every profession and to every person. Only if people (in general) stop yearning for infinite income (or always more)... We are as far from such a philosophy as the world has ever been... how can we expect football clubs (and the corporations behind football leagues) to be any different. My point is that earning caps in football aren't possible unless the more entranched global mindset changes.

It will stop when clubs go bankrupt or nearly bankrupt like Leeds. With Real Madrid or Royal Madrid, I would not be surprised if tax payers money is quietly funnelled into the club. With Spain and the political push for a Catalonian independent state I think this raises the stakes and Real Madrid have to try to win, it's a quasi-political thing.

If the team is having a bad day, he'll camp in the opponents box and does nothing. He won't pressure or go deep to help with build up.

He wasn't short on effort to be fair but he looked incapable of pressing to a good standard, he kept trying and it kept looking worse. It was exaggerated even more because Lingard and Rashford were two whippets either side of him. He's a big unit so in fairness a stateside Mourinho pre-season will take it out of him more than others.
July 29, 20178 yr Viktoria Plzen got a new sponsor and came up with an interesting (brilliant) way to showcase them

July 30, 20178 yr Arsenal lose 1-2 to Sevilla and clinch the prestigious Emirates Cup in the process. Those cheeky Spaniards with their 2 wins, not good enough to topple Arsenal's superior 1 win 1 loss record.
