Antonio Rudiger

It's just really bizarre how he suddenly appeared out of nowhere and replaced Zouma towards the end of Lampard's tenure. There's quite literally no explanation for it, Zouma has been in great form all season.

Does bullying the club’s greatest player make for a better explanation. Sorry but I believe Lamps would rather have resigned & walked out than let Rudiger have his way.

There is always a scapegoat with most football appointments. The press is just running with this because like everyone else they can’t explain how he came back into the team.

I don't want to jump to conclusion but it sure seems everyone is reporting Rudiger was a massive headache all season long and likely instrumental in getting Lampard sacked:

What a disgrace. Should be unceremoniously thrown through the door at Cobham never to be seen again at this club.

But as @ducavis said it doesn't make sense. Lampard banished Alonso for something not even half as bad as what Rudi has allegedly done and we're suppose to believe Lampard not only let it slide but brought him back into the fold, just doesn't add up.

Ah yes, sports journalism at its best. "Reports are surfacing" aka:

This is one of my favorites segments and episodes of this show. "No, no.. we haven't seen people looting and eating each other, we're just reporting it.."

My theory is that Lampard realized he was fighting a losing battle towards the end and decide to play him in a desperate attempt to fix a broken squad.

I think the media are overstating the role of player influence in Frank's departure, I am pretty sure the players being named such as Rudiger must've had conversations with senior members at the club about their limited playing time but the sheer maliciousness being reported seems exaggerated.

Whether he's guilty or not is besides the point, judge him on his football, and then get rid of him.

What about before that? He was safely tucked away as #5 CB and Lampard brought him back to the bench in October when things were still looking good, he literally did the hard part.

Is that a quote from Fox News? Hannity says stuff like that.

I am a little concerned that Tuchel from the reports seems to be a fan

Jesus christ guys, can we put the pitchforks away.

I think it's understandable. Fans are upset and angry and hearing the news that Rudiger was a problem is just going to piss them off even more.

If there is no truth behind this, then it would take Rudiger 10 seconds to set the record straight. He's on social media, all he needs to do is say the media is lying and that would put an end to it.

Yeah I understand, I just wish we wouldn't be so quick to believe everything you read and get so angry.

He can't make a statement and comment on rumours. That doesn't help things and you'd end up with more people angry at him.

If Rudi has been saying to the board that there are problems with Frank, then for me he is well within his rights to. He is a senior member of the team, he's not been treated unfairly by Frank, he's got his chance back in the team, he's been playing. I want our senior members to be able to call out when things are awful. We were all very happy for Frank and JT to do that back in the day, Rudi for me is one of 3 or 4 players in the team who should be able to voice their opinion in the right channels.

But I can't believe he's been fighting with players, bullying, etc. That all smells fishy to me. If he has been doing that and Frank's been playing him, then that's a weakness on Franks part and I don't think Frank is like that, I think he'd happily sideline a player who needed to be sidelined.

I don't understand why people keep saying Rudiger can't make a statement. Oscar did it when he was accused of having a bust up with Costa and that put an end to it. If he hasn't had bust ups with Azpilicueta and the younger players, then just say it's not true. Why are we pretending like this is something he can't comment on? The silence makes him look guilty and the fans will never forgive him and his career here is finished if he doesn't deny any of this.

I also disagree with Rudiger going to the board to complain about Lampard, and I especially disagree with him being one of the only players in the squad we should allow to do this. What has Rudiger done in his career that gives him that kind of status?

Rudiger only had himself to blame for being sidelined by Lampard, his performances have been terrible. It can be argued that out of the 5 CB's we have played in the past season and a half, he has been the worst. When you are that bad for that long, you can't complain when the manager no longer favours you, and if the bust ups with teammates are true, then that is even more reason to freeze him out.

Can somebody explain what Rüdiger has actually done in order to be branded a snake and harassed by so-called Chelsea fans online? Or do we just have an incredible number of morons amongst our fanbase these days? (that second question is somewhat rhetorical)

I'm not interested in Twitter tittle-tattle, and I'm also aware he has not posted anything on social media lately (it's bizarre that people are taking this to mean anything at all).

Do we even know that it is our fans? Judging by some of the recent signups on here it could easily by troublemakers from other clubs trying to stir up trouble online.
