So much wrong in this game that I don't really know where to start. Azpi is by far our best centre back, yet we start him at wing back. Fabregas and Bakayoko have looked awful as a midfield two every time they've played together, yet we start them together. Again.

I think my next point was eluded to earlier in the thread, no guts. Players look uninterested, and to be frank, so am I. It they don't want to play with passion then I don't want to sit and watch. Very concerned by some of the body language of the players tonight.

We have gone backwards. I think we need 4 or 5 players still, especially when you can see there's been a decline with Fabregas, Willian, and pedro. 

it will be 4th-6th this season. Whether that will be enough for conte to keep his job, or for us to hold onto our best players, I'm not so sure. 

We may have spent that but we have sold or loaned out twice as many and somehow made our squad smaller and not significantly upgraded it either. Only at Chelsea 

I could honestly name 6-7 players needing replacing, that includes players who signed in the summer, in a short time, we have went from psg style transfers to liverpool/arsenal ffs

look, i can see the scoreline alright, just find it odd people are overreacting in this particular match, when there were other games when we played worse than this one (despite the score), for example CP away, Watford at home, Roma at home, etc.

WEll that was brutal to watch.  Has a feeling of inevitability about it, that if we lose to Man Utd at the weekend, i think Conte's time is finished.  NOt advocating that, and don't know who we could get in.  But it was around this time a couple seasons back that i felt the same about Jose.

Azpi at wingback is such a vote of no confidence in Zappa though.

 

Did this game have any positives other than Hazard being good untill being borderline assaulted?

I think only Cahill and Pedro had good games, Hazard too but he was no longer effective after that foul.

Tibo maybe couldn't have done much to save those shots as well.

We're lucky Atletico have f**ked up so badly

An embarrassing night, when in the 1st half we didn't play that badly and were the better team, but as a team, and especially at the back, something is not right, we can still get through the group, but Conte needs to address the obvious problems in the team, if he don't, the owner will make him history

Shocking performance, in terms of defending and taking chances, it's a shame to admit, but we're going to blow hot and cold a lot this season, going to be a long, hard season. We're going to qualify to the knock out stages, cannot see us going any further than that.

Cesc's distribution has been arguably the best in the game besides that one pass. That's not what people are complaining about, it's his covering, you said it yourself, you weren't surprised when Perotti done that to Cesc. It's pretty clear Cesc is not capable of playing in a two-man midfield when we have a back 3, look at the first goal, Cesc put 0 pressure on Kolarov who whipped in the diagonal ball. He doesn't have the pace or stamina to do that, if he did he would be out of the game in 45 minutes, he isn't capable of it. 

Why Drinkwater didn't start after two decent performances is beyond me. 

This is all Conte's fault, with his terrible tactics in the midfield. He changed a winnable game into a complete disaster.

 

It's like he's trying to lose on purpose.

Really don't buy that bollocks about Conte working the team too hard.. they are professional footballers earn your f**king money.

A few lucky wins have papered over the fact that we've been a f**king shambles since the opening weekend. A lucky late win against Spurs who dominated us, a win at Atletico (who it turns out are just sh*t this season), lucky win against Watford, embarrased by City, embarrased by Palace, out-thought by Wenger, embarrased by Roma.

Something is not right. Even with a few injuries we should not be this bad.

Alonso looks tired and disinterested.
Fabregas is f**king appaling and can't pass the ball 5 yards.
Bakayoko is horrendous, not only can he not pass, he can't control it, can't hold players off and can't even look around and see when he's being closed down.
Morata has gone completely off the boil.

And our defence... jesus wept. That moment when all 3 of them went sprinting to Dzeko, not a thought in any of their minds to mark the other 2 Roma players running into the box... It would have been comical if it wans't so depressing.

 

I don't know where we're going this season. We've regressed in every aspect. Maybe if we get knocked out by Atletico on the last game, we can focus on just trying to finish 4th.
