If he wants to leave then fine but the transfer request is pretty disrespectful IMO.

If you were offered a higher paid job, you would probably ask your current employer to at least match the offer, if they refused, you may put in a letter of resignation knowing you may get that salary offer, and if not then you could always leave for the new job..

I dont think he’s leaving for money

Because the media never make anything, club personnel always give straight answers questions about players futures and players themselves always come out and say ‘yep, I’m off tomorrow’.

@yorkleyblue please turn up and add some more common sense to the proceedings before the hysteria completely takes over.

That's cool.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

The media can and do make things up, however I just think there are far to many people saying the same thing, and when those in the know have had chance to at least play down the situation, none have. I'm sure Zola could've poured cold water on it, it would've been benefficial for the player if zola said he hadnt put a transfer request in, he couldve gotten a hard time from the crowd.

Thought he showed his age aside from that goal which showed great technique.  This is why he needs playing time to develop.

People getting pretty aggressive at a kid for not wanting to play for Chelsea when literally the reason he wants to leave is because he's not getting the chance to play for Chelsea.  Keep him and give him regular opportunities beyond 10 minute cameos here and there (particularly when the form of the players in front is utter dross) and see if he changes his tune by summer.  If not he should be worth way more even with 1 year left.

edit: and if he is using BM to leverage anything I think it's more playing time.....and weren't we all complaining a week or so ago about wanting players who had a desire to play?  I'm not going to waste the time explaining why a youth here would be hugely cynical about breaking through at this rate.

If he wants to go, we should sell him. However, we should not sell him to Bayern, as they have been very unprofessional and disrespectful throughout, talking about our player constantly to the media.

Gullit was more balanced saying he could be going just to sit on Bayern's bench there were no guarantees either way.

Then Danny Murphy piped in and said "He'll be guaranteed a certain amount of games" ...Gullit replied "That's very very rare for any club to guarantee any amount of play time", to which Murphy replied "yes it's rare", ....well forgive me Danny boy, if it's rare, that means it hardly ever happens.

Yes Murphy seemed determined to ruin any Chelsea fan's evening yet it didn't work for me.

Because it’s a dick move, especially from a player has done nothing to be in a position to blackmail the club.

Blackmail?

Player wants to play more football - another team comes along and promises him what he wants - he asks to join them.

That has absolutely nothing to do with blackmail.

if he put in the transfer request to push chelsea into a corner where they have to play him to keep him, would that be black mail? or just good sense?

But the press were saying for weeks that he definitely wants to leave. So we have to assume he put in the transfer request because he wants to leave. It's a leap of logic I know...

Football is tribal, fans are obviously upset someone doesn’t want to play for our team but at the end of the day if any normal person wanted to change employer it wouldn’t be a big deal. For many footballers it is just a job. If they see better prospects with a different employer they may well think it’s worth the move.

My reply was in answer to if he’s using the transfer request in order to get improved contract terms from Chelsea.

I have never seen pundits try and push a young English talent out of another English club before. Where was the complaining about Harry Kane who went through multiple loans and only got picked for Tottenham because Soldado was sh*t?

If Rashford was pushing for a move out of United 3 years ago, would the pundits be saying he should go through with it? nah, they would be saying he should stay. It happened with Loftus-Cheek last season too, they kept saying he should leave Chelsea.

Then there is Foden at City, why aren't they saying he should leave? He's in the exact same situation that Hudson-Odoi is in. They try and pretend that they care about the player, but really they just don't want to see the best young English talent playing for Chelsea.

Look at the Sterling move to Citeh, the media and pundits slated him for moving for cash/trophies.

Poor old Murphy, it's never his fault!!

say no to the transfer request and play him !! not hard to figure out

Yes, I think this would be the best option. I think that we should try everything to keep him, so he doesn't become another Salah or De Bruyne. We have enough money, and we only need to play him regularly. I mean, if he can score a goal like this one against Sheffield Wednesday than I think he is good enough for us.

I don’t think we will sell him this window.  I think we will give him time until the summer to try and convince him. We may as well as we will only lose £5-10m on him between now and July. Plus Bayern may move into other targets and the whole situation changes. I can see the club cashing in on if nothing changes.
