He's Scouse.

I watched his interview on MOTD and forgotten how scouse that he is. Must say, it feels wrong a scouser playing for us.

Oh ffs grow up!  He's a Chelsea player who's had to work long and harrd to get his career back on track. He looks like a hungry player now and we should  be getting behind him!

First Chelsea goal and an assist today.

Finished the game with something like 93% successful pass rate as well. Definitely his best game for us to date and showed signs of being the sort of player many of hope he can be.

Don't mind me I'm just in hiding from my comments two weeks ago.

Tbf Barkley could give 10/10 performances for the remainder of the season and I'd still say the same - I still don't think he cuts the mustard in the big games against the so called top 6. In that context for me he's the new Cahill, he looks the part against the likes of PAOK and Southampton, but when up against the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal he's liable to make mistakes above and beyond what I think better players get away with. It's why I'd still have Kovacic in the team against United in a few weeks.

Credit to him though I thought he more than deserved his MOTM v Southampton.

Excellent again in the short time he had.

I think he should be starting ahead of Kovacic. He looks really comfortable in the final third whereas I think Kovacic looks more comfortable in the middle third of the pitch.

With the exception of Hazard, the team is struggling for goals, so I would like to see him starting more.

I never thought Barkley would recover from that injury and remain at the top level.

Credit to the kid he's done well and has the handy knack of getting on the end of action in the box to get us points, always a useful skill.

Happy to slowly give him more game time and see how he progresses as not sure he is as mobile as Kovacic yet when we need a goal or are up against clearly inferior opposition let Ross play.

I have had a couple of beers so might be getting a bit carried away but i think Barkley could be the man to replace Lampards goals from midfield for us. I don't expect him to score as many but if he hit double figures from midfield every season then he has the ability to go down as one of the best goal scoring midfielders in the premier league.

Yes you are.

Barkley and Pedro mustn't be replaced this season. they are our 2nd and 3rd threat and, apart from Eden, our only ones capable of scoring goals.

If Sarri wants to give Willian and Kovacic chance, he should give  Kante and Morata/Giroud day off.

Ive said since the beginning of the season that Barkley is definitely a good player to have around. he can start games or come on as a sub for Kovacic and he normally does very well. And as of recently he's also coming up with more goals too at crucial times.

I would prefer Kovacic if we had more goals in the team, but because we don't, I think I would prefer Barkley to be starting the majority of games.

Fair point, i love Kovacic dribbling ability in midfield. I hope we sign him permanently.

Yet to see any real end product from Kovacic. A killer ball, a pin-point cross, a bit of invention, a goal!

He has been functional without pulling up any trees so far IMO.

Hazard goal against Liverpool?

Barkley has surprised me a lot this season and will definitely play a huge role this season, but in terms over overall contribution to the team, I think there’s leagues between him and Kovacic.

I think we’re such a far way off Sarri’s vision of us in terms of defensive structure, cohesive pressing, ball retention, off the ball movement and one touch give-and-go passes, which I think Kovacic is far superior at. Once we get those big, overarching lines strung together, the extra sprinkle Barkley can provide will be worth taking another look at.

Agree and you take out the one press resistant player we have in a Sarri midfield, you are asking for trouble.

5.5 year deal now official, a gamble for sure but at £15 it's definitely one worth taking in my opinion.

I thought the same at the time.It has taken a while but he is now fit and beginning to shine. He can become a great player for us under Sarri.Let's remember he recovered from a terrible injury. You dont get much for 15 mil these days, what a bargain.
