November 4, 20187 yr Good performance glad to see Morata back among the goals recently let's hope he can crack on and get 20+ goals this season.
November 4, 20187 yr We have struggled in recent years to cope with palace's counter attacks, but I thought handled them very well today. The initial pressing was great, and if they managed to play though it, we either conceded a foul, or crowded them them out, zaha barely got into a 1v1 with any of the back 4. The goal we did concede was more down to good play from them rather than any major mistakes from us, and if your asking the defence to play a high line, and centre backs to be aggressive, it's the sort of goal you would likely concede on occasion, when the opposition get 2 or 3 things to perfection. Going forward I thought we were sloppy at times, but we still scored 3 goals, and were unlucky to have a fourth ruled out. Another solid 3 points, I'm sure there will be a few finding things to have a moan about, but we are looking great, especially with morata looking more like an actual footballer.

But surely if Kante is pushed forward in the midfield with an expectation to ope up the opposition and play telling forward passes, then why can't he also do this from a deep lying position. As been stated before much of jorginho's game is movign teh ball quickly over small distances with one touch five yard passes, joining the play up. I think Kante is perfectly capable of doing this and defendign his position. In fact i think Kovacic is also capable of performign this function. Whilst i am comfortable with Jorginho playing the position i do think there is cover there without having to resort to Fabregas who, great player as he has been, is strating to look slightly past his sell by date.
November 4, 20187 yr Interesting looking at the table. There’s City, Us and Liverpool on 29/27 points. There’s now a 3 point gap between Liverpool and Spurs and Arsenal. Looking tight but I hope that we can continue to stay in that top 3 and let the others fight for that final spot.
November 4, 20187 yr Round my brother’s today so saw nearly all the match on some app he has got called Now TV. Great picture and no delays. Good result though Palace made it tricky for us, this was no walk in the park. Morata came good with his brace today, hope he has turned a corner. Good to see Pedro not just for his well taken goal but general workrate and intelligent play. Didn’t notice Jorginho much on the ball think this was due to Palace closing the space around him yet Luiz was great at distributing the ball. Willian played reasonably well without being outstanding like at Burnley and was unlucky not to get a goal. Barkley lost possession a few times and other times linked up well. Kante had a pass intercepted and a couple of passes were either overhit or underhit yet was great defensively. Azpi, Rudiger and Alonso were solid. Good to see Hazard on again and he looked quality during his short cameo. Luiz was unlucky not to get a goal from set pieces. Not sure how Palace got the breakaway yet Townsend took his goal well. We did well to mostly snuff out Zaha with clever defensive play. Liked the way we did not panic yet kept a good tempo up until the last ten minutes.
November 4, 20187 yr Kepa - 6/10 - Can only recall 1 or 2 shots they had on target and I felt he could have done better with their goal. Rated mostly on his distribution. Alonso - 6.5/10 - Same as usual - good going forwards, slow getting back. Surprised Townsend didn't try to beat him for pace more. Luiz - 6.5/10 - Decent for the most part, but guilty of some careless passes, and he got sucked out of position for their goal Rudiger - 7/10 - Solid Azpilicueta - 6.5/10 - Didn't have an awful lot to do at either end of the field. Barkley - 6/10 - Some careless passes. Didn't impact the game enough. Jorginho - 6.5/10 - Hard to rate, doesn't do much attacking ore defending, just dictates the play and keeps the ball moving Kante - 6.5/10 - First hour or so I thought he was poor and I would have taken him off, not Barkley, but when he started putting himself about more and winning tackles, that's the Kante we've come to know and expect Willian - 6/10 - Some flashes, but not much end product Morata - 7.5/10 - Took his goals well, 2nd one especially. Still needs to work on his 1-on-1s. Didn't throw himself to the ground quite as much, which was nice. Pedro - 7/10 - Solid performance and a nice goal Edited November 4, 20187 yr by Zeta

November 4, 20187 yr Jorginho is a Rolls Royce in our midfield. Never have I ever seen a Chelsea player with such simple elegance and seemingly endless time on the ball. A truly mercurial talent who doesn't even need to leave the mid circle in order to control and dominate games. Once the rest of the team figures out their position and movements we'll see an even better Jorginho, who has in my opinions delivered to a 7-8 or better every game this season. With how organized and athletic every team is nowadays, Jorginho's line breaking passes are an absolute necessity. The fact that he makes them using a maximum of two touches as well is extraordinary. Is it too much to ask that they find some genuinely neutral commentators or start to give us just a little bit of credit?

November 4, 20187 yr Eight wins , three draws and playing some lovely football.Happy in Hemel,UP THE CHELS !
November 4, 20187 yr We were only okay today at times but still finished up comfortable winners and that's got to be positive. Slow start even if we were the stronger team, but Palace were good and looked more dangerous at times. Two great goals by Morata and Pedro's one was neat too.
November 4, 20187 yr Im not sure what stream i was watching, think ESPN, or actually maybe BEIN with English commentary and they were very complimentary towards us. Not sure what skys opinion were of us, but judging by some comments, it seems like they are watching a different game to tge rest of the planet. Also i hope its finally time the Moratas haters can see playing him over Giroud was the best option we had. Both goals today were extremely decisive, and not only is he scoring more now, but hes actively trying to get behind more and put himself out there. If he continues to score i couldnt care how many times he misses. Id rather that than a striker who hides for a lack of confidence.
November 4, 20187 yr Sarri made the right subs today, Hodgson set them up well though our work rate tactics and our clinical finishing saw us through.

We are going to go up to second in the table, unbeaten and we are seeing a whole load of posts saying this player and that player aren't good enough for the football we play. If we had so many players that weren't good enough for the role, then we would be dropping a lot more points and losing a lot more games. I agree 100%. If anyone was to reread the posts on here, its like a mini crisis every 10 minutes. This player is terrible, that player is terrible. I dont get it, we havent lost a game in any competition, we have a striker on form, midfielders all playing well. Why is there so much doom and gloom on here, when we have absolutely everything to be happy about.

It gets boring after a while, people just moan for the sake of moaning really. We are matching the two favourites who have had there manager's waaaaaaaay longer than us and people still can't be happy with that. I said it sometime ago that no matter how well we play some with try and post what they believe are clever (negative) analysis of matches where we dominated just to try and look clever.
November 4, 20187 yr Ye i totally agree, and whats more worrying is, it started from kick off on here. We need to actually get behind the players more. Thankfully at the ground the fans are more positive. Imagine what it will be like when we actually start losing, i think some people on here will actually be happy ala ArsenalFanTv
November 5, 20187 yr I can’t ever seem to agree with yorkyblue. I thought Barkley was noticeably sloppy in his passing today, and so was Dave although to a lesser extent. We struggled until Morata goal. Jorginho was fantastic today, constantly making good decisions on the ball. Morata made the second goal look a lot lot easier than it was. Me I still think Zaha would be good in as better team, he’s strong and clever, but has no support really in that team so try’s too hard.
November 5, 20187 yr Sarri said Morata is mentally fragile. This is what I have thought and most of us have seen. I love that Sarri says it out loud. This can be something those two can talk about now if they haven't already spoken about it before. It must be easier for Alvaro to know his gaffer knows why all this potential is not a pile of goals by now.

November 5, 20187 yr Good win against a tricky opponent. This is one of those games we didn't play particularly well, but great to see the likes of Morata, Pedro, Alonso etc step up and make a difference, instead of relying on Hazard. Best game for Morata's Chelsea career, he scored twice to give us the lead, so I'd give him a pass for missing that third goal, which was inconsequential for the result. He's getting more shots on targets and getting into the right position lots more than say 1 month ago. His strength is still not his best , but he's not asked to do a lot of the holding up the ball work, instead he's finding space with his movement. Pedro gave us the urgency and directness we needed in attack, we need to do those simple things, like put an early cross in, nothing wrong with direct football once in a while. Defensively, we are always suspect to quick counter attack, and credit for them to play with 2 fast attackers. Kepa could have done a bit better for the goal, he just rooted on the spot and gave Townsend too much of a target to hit. Hazard only had 30 minutes in him, and that 30 minutes were like 1 hour for the defenders. It's a great sign we are winning games without relying on him.

Just seen it myself and couldn't believe what I was hearing/seeing...they were basically calling us cheats and clearly highlighting incidents so refs will penalise us in the future...if they wanted to, they could have found clips galore no doubt of opposition defenders holding our players at set pieces throughout the season...both teams across the land seek an advantage in this situation...but that doesn't fit the script of course that chelsea remain the enemy of football.
