And especially so, seeing some of the average players being signed by our competition, and the silly prices they are paying to get them ! Me too, its been my favourite transfer window for years, and we have signed 2 players still.
August 7, 20196 yr Our rivals haven't really used this window "against" us. In the end this window might work on for us very well. If we manage to integrate Mount, Tammy, James with Ruben and Callum this season and they are the real deal we have done ourselves a major favour. My only concern at this point is the lack of a deadly striker. This is what every squad needs.
August 7, 20196 yr Until now, I never thought the transfer ban had hurt us. But seeing our defence and attack does worry me abit.
August 9, 20196 yr Here’s one for you all to consider. First here’s the words from FIFAs sanction and detailing our ban The imposition of a transfer ban for two entire and consecutive registration periods Now here’s the thing that entire first period ended yesterday. So ones out the way so no signings . Or could we? Whilst it’s common place to register players in the two periods as long as you have room in your squad you can at any time sign a player who is unattached. In other words players who are without a club. Here’s FIFAs own rules on registering players . Players may only be registered during one of the two annual registration periods fixed by the relevant association. Associations may fix different registration periods for their male and female competitions. As an exception to this rule, a professional whose contract has expired prior to the end of a registration period may be registered outside that registration period. Associations are authorised to register such professionals provided due consideration is given to the sporting integrity of the relevant competition. Where a contract has been terminated with just cause, FIFA may take provisional measures in order to avoid abuse, subject to article 22. 2. The first registration period shall begin after the completion of the season and shall normally end before the new season starts. This period may not exceed 12 weeks. The second registration period shall normally occur in the middle of the season and may not exceed four weeks. The two registration periods for the season shall be entered into TMS at least 12 months before they come into force (cf. Annexe 3, article 5.1 paragraph 1). FIFA shall determine the dates for any association that fails to communicate them on time. I can’t believe there is such a hole in the wording but that’s as it is. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/14-free-agents-your-club-18865426 Edited August 9, 20196 yr by terraloon

August 9, 20196 yr We've raised more money from player sale than any other Premier League club in the last 5 years apparently. One of only three clubs to have a net positive income this window too and there's a chance one or two others may leave to overseas leagues in the next couple of weeks as well. Obviously never going to be ideal not being able to sign new players but we've put ourselves in a good position financially to be able to recruit where needed when our ban is over. When you think that next summer we've already got another £50m coming our way from the Morata sale going into Frank's second season we could see one or two statement signings.

Give Frank the cheque book Roman.

Hopefully following Cech's appointment we're going to be seeing less "club" signings and more recruitment in line with the manager's wishes. I think the way the market is right now with players regularly moving for well in excess of £50m... £70m purchases now even becoming the norm, I don't think getting fleeced is a worry. With the exception of 2017 window I don't think we've overpaid for players since Marina Granovskaia took charge of our transfer dealings.

I would add to that... in that I would like the club to have a direction so the manager is less important to the signings (if that makes sense) so you have a club identity of playing you ensure you get managers that fit that style (should SFL leave) then "club" signings wont be an issue as its always part of a master plan

August 9, 20196 yr Historically we have signed a lot of free agents such as Ballack. I have no idea who is available but not all of them will be described as sh**

August 9, 20196 yr We have a buy back clause for Nathan Ake, maybe he's worth looking at? I've read that we have a predetermined fee so that could be a good deal we won't get fleeced on. The quoted Leicester £75m for him.

If there was already a proven, top quality striker in the squad (in his prime), this actually wouldn't have been so bad a transfer window with all the youth that's been added to the ranks. Let's face it, there's a very small chance Abraham, James, Tomori, Mount would not have some big money buys blocking their path if it weren't for the ban.

Tammy and Tomori probably, but i very much doubt we would have gone all out for a new RB or CAM given what else needs fixing.

But even an agreement to buyback and resell could be very lucrative.
August 11, 20196 yr A world class CB and a striker if someone suitable is available and we have a fantastic squad on our hands for next season.
