July 19, 20205 yr Got to give him a lot of credit for the way he's taken his chance of being the first choice. Possibly playing his most cosistently good football since arriving in England. Runs as fast as an OAP, but the upside of that is he doesn't need pace to be effective. So as long as he doesn't pick up a serious injury and keeps his desire, he can be a very useful player for a few more seasons to come. Edited July 19, 20205 yr by Dixon
July 19, 20205 yr He is not fast but he is extremely quick in the box. His movement to get across defenders is excellent and he is just an absolutely glorious human being.

He was close to going in January after bizarrely being ignored for months. Tammy was playing well but he overplayed him and Batshuayi at giroud’s expense. luckily a move didn’t come off in January cos our pl and fa cups have hinged a lot on giroud’s Great form. Yeah thankfully Frank realized he was wrong, Batman is beyond hopeless in this league. Giroud cannot play every game but having him as our first choice and being able to use Werner or Tammy up top is good imo. With options of Hakim, Werner, Pulisic and one other to support out wide.
July 20, 20205 yr I almost felt bad for Maguire today... almost. Giroud abused him. 15 minutes ago, axman2526 said: Yeah thankfully Frank realized he was wrong, Batman is beyond hopeless in this league. I think that Giroud is going to be a supersub for Chelsea next season in the Premier League and a constant starter in the FA Cup. It seems to me that the initial plan is a three man attack with Pulisic-Werner-Ziyech. That instantly becomes one of the most creative attacking groups in the entire league and probably in Europe, too. But, in matches where a bit more physicality could be beneficical or required, I think they will bring in Giroud. In the FA Cup, where directness and physicality is beneficial early in the competition, Giroud is a must-start.
July 20, 20205 yr I really cannot believe how much I have grown to like Giroud, as I did Fabregas before him. A striker who puts himself about physically as you want from any number 9, but also has the ability and attitude to play selflessly and make everyone around him better.

July 20, 20205 yr It seems good Arsenal players become better as they join us. He singlehandedly schooled all 3 United CBs in 1 game. Brilliant. With Ziyech coming in, Giroud'll be even more effective when we need him.
July 20, 20205 yr BBC interviewer: "Olivier, another FA Cup final to come for you, you like this competition don't you?" Giroud: "Well, ah, yeah, I said to MY boys, err, in the dressing room I would love to weeen another one"
July 23, 20205 yr 7 goals in his last 9 starts. Tough to see him not getting first crack at the starting job next season on this form.
July 24, 20205 yr He is a one man strike force at times. His reading of the play and his ability to find space and to put defenders in situations and positions they don’t want to be in is different class.
July 26, 20205 yr What a beauty he is. As a man and a player. We really need him next season as well.
July 26, 20205 yr I remember mocking arsenal for having this guy, just didn’t rate him. How wrong can you be. I think he’s found a little place in everyone’s heart after this season. Now let’s rub THEIR noses in it and put a cherry on top of this year.

July 26, 20205 yr The period where Lampard froze him out almost cost us top 4 there is a reason even with all the attacking talent for France he always plays
July 29, 20205 yr Quote At the age of 33, he recently became the oldest player to score in five consecutive Premier League starts, taking over from Jamie Vardy.

July 31, 20205 yr I think Bats played over Giroud at first because Frank was thinking Bats and Tammy are more similar in their play style and mobility, as the season went on and Giroud got his chance it was clear we work better with him playing.

Bats strikes me though as the sort of player who is on fire during training each week, but then falls apart when needed. (this is purely speculation just a feeling) but I can see him banging them in from all angles during the week.

In the modern game, you need more than that. He'd be a great striker in the 90's-early 2000's I think
