The price reflects more than just his talent. It’s an investment into the american fan base and it will pay off.

I'm an American, and a new Chelsea fan as of Thursday, and I've been watching Christian for a while. He just might be the best American to ever play the game and I don't say that lightly. He has a magical touch that you don't typically see from American players. He also seems very mature and well grounded from the stories I've read about him. I was gutted when the USMNT washed out of the 2018 World Cup on the basis alone of not getting to see Christian playing for us. He also could very well be the player that inspires millions of American kids to play soccer instead of American Football, baseball or basketball. Also, I'll be buying an authentic kit with his name on it next season. So I'm happy with the signing.

TBF, if i were from the States i too could be the best Amercian to play the game. Not exactly much competition.

I'm just looking forward to seeing someone new in attack.

If Hazard does go, which is increasingly looking an inevitability, I hope we can convince CHO to stay and we'll have a bit of youth and pace in the wide areas next year.

I have a sneaky theory.  Perhaps CHO is waiting to see if Hazard is leaving or not before he makes his own decision.  Let's say Hazard were to leave - if we throw CHO the #10 shirt and a much improved contract, would that get him to stay?

Depends on his reasons for wanting to leave I suppose.

If it's mainly about playing time then you'd like to think giving him a regular starting spot in his favoured position at the club he's been at since 8 (or whatever it is) he'd jump all over it.

If it's about a new challenge then perhaps not... Moving to Germany and playing for Bayern Munich is a fantastic opportunity for any player, let alone one as young as CHO.

I'm not sure we've done enough to convince him to stay at the moment. His playing time is pretty erratic and even when he plays well he's getting drop for the next game.

I think if Hazard does leave we'll hold on to CHO and make him see out the final year of his contract if nothing else to save face and not lose two massive talents in one window.

All valid points.  I am inclined to think that it would mean a lot, especially to him, that his boyhood club would give him the 10 shirt.  We shall see.

Back to Pulisic though, I agree it will be refreshing to see someone new in attack.  Pulisic is young, direct, has a good head on his shoulders, and will bring pace - the last bit I think we have been lacking quite a bit.  Is he worth 60m right now?  Probably not, but that's the market for potential these days.

I don't think Christian is the player to do that. Soccer already does pretty well with the 5'8 suburban white kids.

It will definitely up the profile for Chelsea in the States though.

How long into next season until we start blaming him for our woes?

I'm thinking second week of October for the first comments.

I thought we’d already started :laugh2:

We won't get out of August before it starts with some of the f**kwits on here.

Feel exactly the same. Sick of the sight of Willian and Pedro.

Knowing Sarri though, if he’s here next season, he’ll bench him and start them two.

Yeah had enough of Willian and Pedro to. They have been here too long.

Well taken goal tonight against Chile. He went off early with a quad strain. They called it "precautionary"

Returned to Dortmund now for treatment

Even though I am yet to be convinced by Pulisic, I can see that he is very direct. If Hazard does leave next season, I would love to see him and Hudson-Odoi on our wings together. The pair of them running at defenders could be like something we haven't seen since Robben and Duff.

Would enjoy seeing it. To be fair duffer and robben at their current age would be more exciting than Willian and Pedro. Not that it is hard to be...

I'm American but I do not share the same enthusiasm for Pulisic as others. Clearly a purchase by the club to gain a bigger fanbase in the states. He couldn't even get into the Dortmund team when he was healthy and doesn't provide enough final product. He'll be gone in 2 years.
