Obviously he lacks the pace of Morata, but he has the strengths of the Giroud with elite finishing. You can see him already direct players around him on where they should be and how he likes the service. It's not just the goals that are going to improve this team, but having three levels of distribution capable from Luiz, Jorginho, and now Higuain should open everything up a bit more.

April 27, 20197 yr Interesting that everyone calls him slow. First of all, he is not THAT slow at all and more to the point... Just how many PL strikers are that pacy? Aguero really isnt as fast as people make him out to be. Kane? Zlatan scored over 20 goals. Even in his prime, was he pacy? I dont think pace is that important to a striker. Are Lewandowski or Suarez any faster than Gonzalo?

Are Lewandowski or Suarez any faster than Gonzalo? Costa was fast and able to hand-off defenders, I recall Suarez being fast too, Aguero is fast over short distances yet has mobile attackers feeding him. Gonzalo does not run off the shoulder of defenders more tries to find space between the lines, IMO. This might make it more difficult for players to find him at least initially.
April 28, 20197 yr One of the worst performances I have seen from a striker all season, absolutely woeful. Just play Giroud for the remaining games. He may not score the goals, but he will at least provide some decent link up play.
April 28, 20197 yr Don’t care if we have a transfer ban in the summer would rather take our chance with Tammy and Michy B than Piguain. He’s f**king useless.
April 28, 20197 yr Utterly pitiful performance from GH - clearly does not understand the offside rule. Dross of the first order.
April 28, 20197 yr He must have been born in an offside position. He's very clearly worse than Morata. And Torres for that sake. Absolutely useless.
April 28, 20197 yr Please take Sarri, Jorginho, Kovacic, Willian, Pedro, David Luiz, and Marcos Alonso with you on your way out the door this summer Gonzalo. Edited April 28, 20197 yr by Butterhampton FC

April 28, 20197 yr Hugely disappointing ... really did think he'd at least put up better numbers than Morata ... the only positive is that we've only wasted money on his wages for half a season ...

This is why I don’t think I can trust Sarri’s choices going forward. He wanted to sign him permanently. crazy thing is he is guaranteed to start next Sun. ????
April 28, 20197 yr I’d rather we re-sign Chris Sutton and play him up front. Higuain is absolutely woeful for a top level striker.
April 28, 20197 yr Dreadful performance, and topped it off by missing the last chance. We may as well have just stuck with Morata at this rate. But then again, if every striker is coming here and having a hard time, what does that say? Are we signing bad strikers or are we not playing well enough to feed them? I would say it's a bit of both.
April 28, 20197 yr Useless. Every game it is the same thing. Looks lethargic, is lazy and consistently offside and against any half decent opposition, he looks out of his depth. Him playing today, literally felt like playing with 10 men. Morata was bad but offered a lot more than Higuaín imo and he is gone.
April 28, 20197 yr It appears Sarri wants him to stay here next season based on his post-match comments. Very worrying! He's worse than Morata, and I was one of Morata's harshest critics.

It was clear that he was in decline while he was in Milan. The only reason we brought him in was because Sarri was adamant he got him and that was a massive misjudgement. I do agree that we don’t help our strikers though. Edited April 28, 20197 yr by EdinburghBlue

Definitely a bit of both, but mostly because the strikers we are signing are sh*t. In recent times, we keep signing these strikers that are either struggling, are in their 30's or never really looked good enough in the first place. Pato, Falcao, Giroud, Higuain, Eto'o, all 5 of these were signed on loan or on a permanent deal and all of them were past their best. Morata was always a massive risk. I never thought he looked like a player that would go on to be world class before he signed for us. Batshuayi was the wrong fit. We have always needed strikers that can hold up the ball well, Batshuayi was never going to be that player. Remy and Ba were decent at times, but nobody ever expected those two to go on and be regular starters. Remy's injuries caught up with him in the end too. Lukaku was never given a chance. Torres was just signed at the wrong time in his career. He was showing signs that there was something off with him before he signed with us. Costa is the only major success in recent times, and you can see why. He was signed at a good age (25) and he was at the peak of his abilities. Those are the types of strikers we should be signing.
April 28, 20197 yr Higuain personifies the standard of Serie A these days, a slow league with many passed it players. Another dreadful performance from him today, worryingly our manager still rates him. Send him back at the end of the season and please stop using Serie A as a hunting ground for future signings unless they are young enough to adapt to our more fast and physical game.
