Have you watched broja or Southampton in the last 2 months?

I have. He has being used mainly as a sub since they are safe from relegation and Southampton are on a bad run, there was a petition from Saints fans to start him last match which he did.

I don't think is fair to judge him for the last couple of months, Southampton dont care about his development as they are not getting him back next season most probably.

I know how he feels.

My first game was in Chelsea v Oldham Athletic in the old 2nd division in 1982, which finished 2-2.

Pretty sure we were 2-0 up at one point as well.

Todd Boehly will instruct Chelsea to kick-start their transfer plans as soon as his takeover is cleared. The summer window is seen as an immediate priority for the soon-to-be new owner.

Really Todd can sort out transfers out and we can be better. The £300m we’ve spent on forwards is ridiculous given that we have one of the poorest forward line in the league. We need to be better at buying players who fit our style

I'm feeling optimistic, this just feels like 10 years ago when we were champions of Europe and had a massive squad shake up. That's why I suppose it's fitting Azpilicueta leaves since that's when he joined and now the cycle is complete.

Its important to now back TT and build a footballing philosophy that translates across the whole club not just the squad. Commit to Tuchel and longevity it's the only way to try and establish long term success. Whilst the Roman model has worked it is now a product from a bygone era as more clubs commit to one coach across a sustained time period.

So far we're likely to lose 4 defenders I don't think that's enough, we need to shift Sarr, some midfielders and perhaps some forwards as well. I honestly believe 6+ new squad members are needed if not more. Now the fact we have such a talented academy means we can pick a good few out from there and from our loaned players who will be returning.

It's very important now for the scouts to do their job and identify the next big stars without us having to pay ridiculous sums. We signed Salah, KDB, Lukaku (first time), Azpil, Mata, Hazard, Costa, Fabergas, Matic, Kante, and the list goes on for very affordable prices some were absolute steals. Sure football has changed yet I still see some teams getting world class players for nothing compared with our spenditure.

Originally I worried that no longer being UCL champions may hurt us in recruitment since last summer our stock was at its highest and we failed to really make any use of it, unlike 10 years ago.

However, whilst we're no longer champions of Europe being the current reigning World championship has to have some pull. This is the summer to go in hard to the market, Marina if she stays will be more needed than ever to capitalise on the clubs stock being at an all time high with its current title, new investors a chance for any player really to make the starting 11 (aside from new fullbacks).

If you're a good CB, DM or an attacker you could make this your team and that has got to appeal to some top talents around the world.

If he is using the current people that are there I don't hold much hope as most of our transfers of late have been diabolical.

We need a director of football with an eye for spotting real talent before they go on to be on everybody's shopping list.

Agree. Our entire player recruitment process needs a revamp before we start signing new players.

A few Chelsea fans pages are reporting that the Todd has agreed terms with both Bruce Buck and Marina to stay on in their current roles.

Imo that is not a good move.

Also reported that Johnathan Goldstein will not be joining the board. He will work with the club on the stadium project but knows his diehard Spurs fan status would cause issues if he joined the board.

For a moment i thought you said "d**khead spurs fan", which obviously is correct.

Marina doesn't have the power to decide on recruitment and transfer strategy.

She will negotiate within the parameters she is given.

Why is it not a good move? Marina is a pretty good negotiator. I don't know what Bruce does... although I would think he is trusted throughout footballing community and he is American which probably helps Boehly a bit.

We don't have a sporting director per say so that is something we probably need to fix. Petr is some sort of advisor.

"Marina, we want you to pay significantly more than they are worth, and make sure we pay them at least double their current salary ..."

Don't understand why this director gets such an easy ride from so many on here  ... her negotiation skills are practically non-existent when it comes to incoming players. Granted she has got some decent fees for player sales, Hazard being the notable success.

Realistically most transfers in the recent times have been in accordance to the market and you can argue that it’s not her fault when the club goes out looking desperate, sure some price tags looked a bit off but you need to consider that she was put in a difficult situation multiple times.

Pulisic cost a bit more than how it should have been but at the time the club was about to get a transfer ban and the risk of losing Hazard was high but even so there is no doubt in my mind that she did the best possible deal there.

Kepa was somehow identified as a sudden transfer target in a similar way, young and a bit outside of the radar but due to our dire need of a new keeper she was again put in a difficult situation but if you have people around you telling that this kid is the future then you give him high wages specially since you don’t want to end up in the same situation again with having to deal with another snakey.

Lukaku was our second transfer target and the summer was passing by, once again she was put in a difficult situation after the Haaland deal couldn’t have been made. Obviously we looked like we wanted to splash the cash and obviously his wages were going to be high.

All this can also be seen with the retrospect of how we managed to get some big names in the late 90’s, we got the money and we will appreciate if our targets would join us as we have good ambitions.

The scouting team being unable to find a good player outside of the top 5 leagues is pretty evident in the recent years.

Not sure who ultimately makes the final decision in these cases. We have an extensive scout network that identifies the targets in the parameters the club has set. I think anyway. Then Marina goes sniffing if that indentified player is available. Then negotiations start and they end. If the player ends up being good, great job everyone. If he is bad, Marina and Roman are to blame.

I have to say i do feel very optimistic. The way that Boehly' team run the LA Dodgers in combining big signings with young talent and the best facilities is hugely significant. Also massive ties to USA will hopefully help us grow.

We don't filly know exactly what Marina does and does not do in her role, but that was not the point I was making.

Given ET was sanctioned by the UK gov for his close connections to Roman we don't need the chaos of being at the beginning of this transition, or the start of the season, and to have more Chelsea directors sanctioned, which I do not put past this government.

The day City sign Halaand for nearly half of what we paid for Lukaku, we sign Bruce and Marina. I'm laughing hysterically at our plight to lessen my pain. The gap to the top 2 is widening.

The only cure for that is spending and rebuilding and if the new owners don't do it they chicken, if they so epic with Dodgers let them invest 200m in the summer!

The problem with us is not spending enough but who we spend it on. 400 mill spent on Jorginho, Kepa, Pulisic, Werner, Havertz and Lukaku but are we really any better ? And would we been any worse with Lamptey, Tomori and Tammy in the team ? Our management has messed up the concept of who's good enough and who's not for the team. The way we make our transfer decisions need to change because the way we are lumping money at flops is unsustainable in financial and football terms.

That was over a longer time period and most of those players won us the CL. Jorginho in his role has been overall stable over the seasons and you have no choice but to spend if you want to rebuild, technically we did lose Hazard, Pedro and Willian and Pulisic carried us at some point under Lampard's first season.

I prefer that we spend than not if that makes sense, already a few players from the academy are key players for us but I don't think it's reasonable to expect to rely on so many since most big teams get a few from their own development and the quality for the rest you do need to buy, this is specially true in the PL where the vast majority of the very best players are not domestic.

We need to and will spend in the transfer market, out of necessity with our players leaving and to replace some of the garbage we need to throw out. But and a big but how ever much the kitty is it needs to be spent wisely.

Speaking of that Kev, Richard Keys has advised the Todd to burn 350mill on signings 3 England internationals, Rice, Kane and McGuire, lmao.
