The problem is that he was completely alone in the area with 6 WH player constantly surrounding him, besides Chelsea has no ability to create any kind of service. What would be the point if he went out of the area? Chelsea already has too many players there, en they are completely useless. Also, all the service he had in the entire game he took a direct shot creating danger, not much else he could've done today. The thing is this team is completely caotic in every way, very hard conditions for a striker. By the way, once again and for the 100th time i must ask: Kovacic-Jorginho?? ARE YOU KIDDING ME??
March 10, 20197 yr Hazard saves our blushes. Poor performance but it’s what we’ve been seeing all season from how Sarri sets the team up so is it really a surprise? Massive dent to our top four hopes but was always going to be an uphill struggle because at times, like today, we’re our own worst enemy.

The players are doing what Sarri wants them to do and it's not good enough. The players are doing their best to create and to keep the ball in possession, it's Sarri that doesn't do anything in the match preparation against any particular opponent. What's Sarri supposed to do? Bring himself on and score? If those players are doing their best then they clearly aren't good enough. Anytime we face a team that puts nine men behind the ball no one takes anyone on or shows any initiative.

He brought on youth which people keep moaning about, he took off Jorginho, put Kanye in his natural position, changed the formation, please do tell me what you want him to do?

And Spurs might be in bad form but they've finished strong under Poch, Sarri will stick to this setup and we'll drop more points. Hope this negativity is just inside this forum and not amongst Chelsea.
March 10, 20197 yr Everything about that game was flat...team, atmosphere, manager. Hope its a draw in this one.
March 10, 20197 yr I said on the top 4 thread that us and all our peers will drop points unpredictably and today was one of those days. Wolves are a dangerous side and very physical today and defended in numbers after getting a fortunate goal. We didn't give up and kept going. Sarri made positive subs although I would like to have seen Giroud on for this one. If Utd and Arsenal do conjure up a draw we are still in the same position.

Basic things about passing and movement. I think he is right in some sense. Too many times our player has a ball and everyone else stop. Every player stop to their feet and watch what he is going to do. We have no flow in our football. Today it was 94 minutes of that.

March 10, 20197 yr Draw isn't good enough in the grand scheme of things. Big improvement needed and it's clear a big overhaul transfer window if we can get that sh*t sorted.

The players are doing exactly what he wants, the team is playing exactly how he wants them to and still no end product no good result. It means that his gameplan doesn't work, regardless of the players. And it's Sarri that insists now that RLC is a sub even if Kovacic isn't doing anything special, it's Sarri that insists in a lot of things and I don't see any big improvement from how he wants the team to play. He got Jorghino that is hated by the fans, he got Higuain that isn't doing well, there is little to no argument that objectivly supports a claim that Sarri is doing well with this team.

If we can't beat wolves at home then it is looking highly unrealistic that the league will be our chance to qualify to Champions league. Unless something drastic happens like the change in formation and mentality that occured after our 3-0 loss to Arsenal under Conte, which lead to an unbeaten run, then I don't see us not dropping points between now and the end of the season.

Anytime we face a team that puts nine men behind the ball no one takes anyone on or shows any initiative. Then Sarri should be adjusting the tactics and play certain players over others to force the result. You don't play a midfield of Jorginho, Kante and Kovacic against a team sitting deep, you need a more direct midfielder in there, you don't have to be a football coach to see that. It's hard enough for that midfield 3 to create anything or score against teams that play more open, asking them to do it against defensive teams will always end up being a struggle. Sarri needs to add a bit of directness to his tactics, getting the team to play the way they are now isn't going to work in this league. The Premier League has always been about direct football, there isn't a single team that has succeeded without it. Tiki-taka, sideways, slow passing will never be a success in the Premier League.

The Napoli players could get their heads around how he wants to play and the rewards were obvious. So far our lot haven't even grasped the basics by the look of it.

Yes they are based on the last 8 matches yet our home form is very good, however today they had nothing to lose as they are not chasing top 4 and safe so they could pack the defence and wait for us to over commit.

I’m sorry but this is a squad full of title winners, saying they need to “learn football” is a bizarre statement. Sarri’s style has been a hindrance to these players but also his team selections. The starting midfield today was just ridiculous.
March 10, 20197 yr Sarri isn’t up for the job imo. I just don’t see us getting enough points for top 4. Gotta hope for a miracle in the EL.
March 10, 20197 yr Definitely 2 points dropped, there is a serious lack of goals in that starting midfield. At home to Wolves we should of picked a more attacking line up from the start. This is the home stretch of the season, the target should be dispose of the teams below us and get what we can from the teams around us. We should be going after teams like Wolves from the get go and try and get in a winning position by the 60 minute mark. Edited March 10, 20197 yr by 2211
March 10, 20197 yr f**king hell, think I need a Xanax after reading the entire match thread. You'd think we just drew against a mickey mouse team. Wolves are no pushovers this season. Performance wasn't good enough, top 4 still a possibility. Massive, massive overreactions on here. Not surprised though... Edit: Not to mention their goal was a total fluke and they should've had a player sent off early on in the second half. Edited March 10, 20197 yr by Amputechture

What a load of old tosh. The way you and a couple of others go on you'd think Sarri had invented passing and movement. We often had passing and movement under Mourinho and Conte. We didn't have possession for the sake of possession. And we certainly didn't have a high press at the half-way line.
