August 14, 20223 yr Great at everything today. Such a shame that he couldn't clear that Kane's header
August 16, 20223 yr #Chelsea want Mason Mount and Reece James to sign new six-year deals with an option of a seventh year. [via@Matt_Law_DT] #Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is implementing a US-style contract policy for the club's under-25 players, locking them into deals for as long as seven years. August 17, 20223 yr His cross to Havertz is one of the best i've ever seen last game, such a shame the finish didn't match it

His cross is his biggest weapon, he could have more assists in the league than any other player if our attackers weren't so hopeless in front of goal.
August 21, 20223 yr Hes better at rwb. Why is he in a back 3 when we have azpi and trevoh on the bench?

Because Loftus-Cheek and James linked up so well against Tottenham. This is something I think Tuchel deserves criticism for. Just because it worked against one team, it doesn't mean it will work against another. Loftus-Cheek was never the right player to play against Leeds at wing back. If Loftus-Cheek had to play, I would have preferred him in midfield. Maybe he could have taken the pressure off by holding up the ball with his strength, because Jorginho and Gallagher were getting bullied by Leeds constant pressure.

Thing is he could made the change in-game when he saw we were getting pressed. You would think that is a flexibility the back 5 gives you, but he just waited. It was like watching a car crash.

He's better at RWB yes, but also better than Azpi and Trev in a back 3. So the question is - Do you drop Ruben after a fantastic performance against Spurs? No you don't. You can maybe argue that we could have seen Gallagher for Azpi, and James in midfield, but I like that he gave him the start.

No you don't I disagree with this, there should be no such thing as a player keeping their spot just because they played well in the game before. Every team plays differently, so you put out the best team to deal with the tactics the opposition will throw at you. Loftus-Cheek at RWB was not suited to playing against Leeds pressing game, so he shouldn't have played there.

Loftus-Cheek at RWB was not suited to playing against Leeds pressing game, so he shouldn't have played there. Ruben had a good season last season. He was very good in preseason and was brilliant vs Spurs. I've seen some people say he's not suited to play against a pressing game, but not one has offered a reason why. It's like they hear some narrative they like and repeat the same bollocks ad nauseum. He along with Kovacic are our best solutions against a very good press. You know who isn't great against a good press? Jorginho, Gallagher and Azpi - essentially all the alternatives to Ruben. To be good against a press you need a mix of good technical skills, ball control, positioning and agility. Last season we struggled against a great City press at home and the main culprits were Kante, Jorginho, Azpi and Alonso (+ Werner and Lukaku up top). He deserved his start and was far from the main problem yesterday.

At least one of the stats sites agrees with you : they had RLC 4th best out of our team against Leeds, behind James, Mount and Silva, and quite a long way ahead of Gallagher in 5th. The less said about the rest the better ...
September 3, 20223 yr Alright. Now push on and become the clubs greatest defender in history also. The bar is high Reece!

September 3, 20223 yr Reeces head went after that clash with Antonio. That header was a terrible call.

September 4, 20223 yr Wasn't his best game, in his defence I think he's been over worked. He was the only contributor in our attack until Chiwell showed up, still has to chase up on many occasions because our midfield offers little protection. Definitely a legendary player in the making, give him 10 years deal.

September 4, 20223 yr I genuinely believe Reece James can become one of our greatest players ever. He’s already so good and he’s nowhere near his peak yet. Insane.
