January 11, 20206 yr VAR had a lot to say in the game Their disallowed goal & The pen changed the whole team mentality. still it’s here to stay and just like ref mistakes the var calls seem to be evening out as the season progresses loving Jorginho hop skip score pens Rees James was brilliant again today and think we’re finally seeing CHO come into form got his 1st prem goal !!! when I saw Ross B in the lineup I downgraded my prediction to 2-1 but thought he did alright today no mistakes tidy on the ball Clean sheet to boot however still wobbly at the back Carefree then !!!
January 11, 20206 yr No need for subs when Jorghy's is orchestra is playing. I thought this would be a narrow 1:0 win with CHO scoring, but I forgot how many chances the team actually creates when everyone is moving without the ball...Burnley probably spent too much energy trying to bait out an error from our players, little did they know they played right into our hand.
January 11, 20206 yr Author Decent enough performance, brilliant result, CHO and James look brilliant on the right, combined age 39.

Burnley are usually a very physically aggressive side, so today looked like the worst game for Christensen to come into. But luckily for him, the defence didn't have to worry about that side of the game too much today.
January 11, 20206 yr Very good performance in the end. Lots of good performances, Reece etc... but got to give a mention to Barkley today, was the player we see for England.
January 11, 20206 yr Played well, Reece James impressive as was Ross. Jorginho calm as usual. Willian gets so much undeserved flak when he is quite clearly the best player we have. Not even a debate Burnley though, are f**king dreadful. Noots Forest 2nd's were a harder game. Mount should not be in the team every week, I am not seeing the huge hype round him Edited January 11, 20206 yr by RickUK
January 11, 20206 yr Nice to able to watch and enjoy a home game. Once the opening goal went in the result was never really in doubt. Reece and CHO caused havoc on the right hand side and really the scoreline should have been a lot more. Nice to get a clean sheet though our defending of set pieces needs improvement..

Agreed I was extremely nervous until Tammy got the second and even then but I couldn’t believe when they said I think that was our first home halftime lead in a league game since August.

The orchestra was more of a pub singer in the first half. He, as always, was very poor when the opposition crowd him out of the game. He can't cope if not gifted space to play his game. After we went 2 up he improved then the 3rd saw Burnley give up and Jorginho then allowed to play his game.
January 11, 20206 yr Great win in the end, shouldve been more. I like lampard not making unnecessary changes, we have lost control in dkne games after subs have come on, and it was nice to see it out. Barkley barely gave the ball away today, probably his best game of the season, and the more attacking midfield worked pretty well. Got the decisions, and got the goals at the right time today. Big 3 points today, a win next week will set us up nicely for a really tough 6/8 weeks.

Mount should not be in the team every week, I am not seeing the huge hype round him If Abraham wasn't wasteful mount would have had 2 assists.. Mount is so underated because people just look at stats.. He and William for me are our most crucial players.. Also want to point out that CHO looked good combining with James on the right and William looked class like Hazard on the left
January 11, 20206 yr Didn't join until 13mins and took some notes as many breaks in the game today: 14 Corner Willy round edge of box can't shoot 18 mins Rees - showboating loses ball then fouls- freekick - close shave re VAR 21 Willian falls over - penalty - VAR again kind - Jorgy coolly does it. 31 Mount free kick conceded... really? 32 Christensen foul 34 Barkley saves a goal from the corner 36 Rudiger foul? 37 Rees great cross Tammy headed goal, keeper sleeping? 40 Rees shot 42 Mount caught on ball in good position 43 CHO cross 44 Mount shot - easily saved 46 Barkley breaks - fouled, his freekick charged down Thoughts at HT Willy great positions yet final passing not working either overhit or player not expecting. Messy yet ok, need a third second half to drop their heads. Burnley closing us down well at times. 48 Azpi cross after Tammy miss - CHO goal - VAR goes our way again. 52 Rees wins crunching tackle 54 Super Frank rings out from the crowd!! 55 Barkley intelligent running on the ball 58 Lennon fouls Mount 61 Mount fouls Lennon 63 CHO wins throw in their half 63 Barkley assist 64 Mount to Tammy chance 67 Tammy headed miss from Mount assist 69 CHO good cross, no-one connects 74 Rees shot charged down, Willy shot keeper saves 77 Rees loses ball - Burnley dangerous break 79 Good move breaks down with CHO 80 CHO and Tammy getting in each others way 80 Tammy's trickery wins corner 81 Mount miskick from corner, chance over 82 Barkley wins ball feeds Tammy 85 Corner Christensen heads well over 86 Rudiger fouls Wood 87 Rees kick ball out 91 Willy runs into trouble edge of box A good result today could have been more yet three gifts from VAR they were all close calls for me. Rees involved in lots and we seemed to break a lot down the right as he was able to look up from the CB pass and take us forward, often this season that has not happened. The odd mistake yet a contender for MOTD for me. CHO much better today and looked an EPL player worth his 90 mins today. Barkley played well, got forward often and kept moves going and created an assist, linked well with Jorgy. Christensen was better passing us out of defence than others recently a couple of times was seen to foul Wood as he jumped for the header and Wood backed into him. I would not have picked him for this match yet thought he did well. Tammy worked hard and took his goal well though could have scored more too. Generally mostly good performances. January 11, 20206 yr I don't think we got any favours from VAR today, we simply got three VAR endorsements of the decisions that were given on the pitch by the referee and linesman ... certainly nothing "clear and obvious" to over-turn.

Jorginho for you, address him properly from now on, thank you in advance. His game enables others in ways your eyes are ears appear incapable to capture, just sublime tones and subtle details that make the orchestra flow in a perfect harmony, all together and yet as one. But what does it matter when you're stone deaf?

That first goal when Willy won a penalty looked very soft for me. I did see it as some sort of justice though given some of the disappointing decisions given against us in other matches.

They've been playing well for a while tbh, the way they've responded from that 0-9 has been incredible. The only defeat recently that really should never have happened is Bournemouth, the others (London Derby, pumped up Duncan Ferguson led Everton and in form Southampton) aren't exactly outrageous for a young team and manager learning the ropes.
