He never played box to box for Leicester, he was sat deep in a 2 alongside Drinkwater. Same with Conte he was sat deep in a 2 with Matic.

It is one thing pressing the ball & winning it back, a box to box needs to know what to do with it when he wins it back.

I'd have started Gilmour. Our midfield 3 were wrong tonight against City. Needed ball players. Gilmour, Jorginho and Kovacic would have given us so much more control. Kante is lost in this central midfield role against a team like City.

I don't know what is wrong with Kante. I don't know if it's the injuries or the tactics, but he has had a really poor season. Out of all of the midfielders we have, he has been the most disappointing after Barkley, which is shocking seeing as he has been one of our best players since he joined.

Too many errors second half. Play in their half  more even if it means going long.

Playing against a team like City you cannot afford to waste possession. Billy would be good in that respect as he rarely gives the ball away.

Don’t know how many times this gets rehashed. Drinkwater sat and Kante got up and down the pitch. Same with Matic for us. Just because he’s not scoring 10+ goals he was still a box to box mid, not a holding mid like people try and make out he is.

google Kante and you'll learn that Kante has always been a box-to-box midfielder.
