Judging from how he played in the CL final I’m confident he can play a significant role this season. I know Bayern’s attackers are not known for their pace but I think, like JT, his lack of speed is made up for by his ability to read the game and be one step ahead.

Why is his age a concern when his fitness is superb. Players these days will last longer due to better diets, training etc.

His leadership and experience will be invaluable to us this season.

Oddly enough I’m more excited about this signing than the rest. Probably because I’m sick of poor defending, I seriously can’t wait to see him marshal the back line ! PROPER LEADER.

Age doesn't concern me.

I don't doubt his attitude and professionalism but no matter how well you take care of yourself you slow down as you age, it's just nature. Coming at 36 into the most physically demanding league in the world is going to be a challenge but I'm sure his experience and intelligence will help him adapt to it.

Very astute signing this. Short term deal but is of a high calibre and experience which is much needed in our squad. 

But like when we resigned Drogba in 2015 I think Silva is being bought in for what he brings off the pitch as much as on it. 

So, squad number 26 for Thiago Silva, and Messi get 25

Delighted with this signing. I was always dubious about Brazil's ability to produce good keepers and top defenders, but I've changed my mind in recent years, and Thiago Silva has always been an outstanding defender. The entire backline will be strengthened by his presence, and I am sure the other CBs will improve individually by playing alongside him.

Key difference is Thiago is still competing at the top level, Drogs was long past his peak at that point.

In terms of points gained, I believe Silva is the most important signing of the 20/21 season.

 

This is a statement. We are coming for Liverpool and City. Yeah, they are better and have chemistry  due to the longer time they play together, but boy oh boy, we are looking frightening right now.

Coman and Gnabry are absolutely rapid. Pace isn't an issue for Silva.

Another 20% improvement to the defence.

This is a good signing. Checks so many boxes. Hope he still has the legs for PL, but playing a CL final only days ago suggests he has all the attributes we need. low risk and smart business.
