Chelsea v Real Madrid (CL Semi-Final 2nd leg) Wed 5th May 2021 20:00 GMT

Featured Replies

I said it much earlier in this thread, but I will say it again, as I feel it needs repeating - like the first leg with the Dutch referee (Val's Dad?), I thought the Italian referee was extremely fair and did not fall for any shenanigans from either side (mainly from Real, as we don't do that too much since Morata left us).  In some respects, he maybe was a bit too harsh on Real, as Andrea's really bad foul very early in the match (around the 4th minute, I believe), on Eden (?), was not given as a yellow, when it really should have been a yellow.

Let's just hope it stays that way in the final (I am expecting that German referee that we always see in big matches).

Ive been surprised by the reffing in all the knockout games in europe, theres been a lot less falling for cheating, giving free kicks when a player just falls over etc. Long may it bloody last in my opinion.

Manchester City won't admit it, but they're sh*tting themselves at the prospect of playing us. They would have preferred to play Real Madrid where they would have dismantled them with ease. Tuchel can more than hold his own against Pep, and the FA Cup semi final will give them food for thought..

Play football on Thursdays with two City fans and they were unbearable last night, apparently they will 100% win because they're a better side.

Do they not know what our record as underdogs is like? Not to mention have they forgotten who have knocked them out in recent years?

Common attitude amongst their fans though right? General sense on entitlement that they are owed a CL, unhappiness they have to face an English team in their first final as real would have been far more glamorous, they are dominant in the league which proves they are better than us and they remember thrashing us at the bridge and expect both Saturday and especially the final to go the same way.

You wont find many who are fearful of playing us, they expect victory and see us as a few levels below their side.

I don't know how they can be so cocksure while chasing a maiden UCL, even after we did it in 2012 it took about a month until i stopped being paranoid it didn't actually happen and i dreamt the whole thing up.

I don't want to tempted fate but I agree with the above, I think we got a chance against City, In fact I think I am more worried about Leicester in the FA cup final.

Winning all those league cups has gone right to their heads.

I think they should of let Giroud have that penalty at the end though. It was still a foul within the time.

Different clubs I know but the United fans had the same attitude about facing us in 2008. Now of course United had won it before, but maybe it is a Manchester thing.

Best hope they are wrong for a few reasons, one being you will get times of cr@p if they are right.

That was so weird, it was almost as if he really didnt want to give a penalty against Madrid.

‘Fiorento Perez, Zinedine Zidane, Thibaut Courtois, your boys took some beating.’

To paraphrase the famous Norwegian commentator, after Norway beat England back in 1981.

Incredible

Thanks for posting this - it's very funny hearing Mount's squeaking compared to Rüdiger's more audible bass.

Will be interesting to see how we are affected by the return of the fans when it will be much harder for the players to hear each other and the management.

Expect a big improvement from Arsenal - they won't be affected at all!

Turkey added to the UK "Red list" meaning people entering the country from Turkey need to isolate in a hotel for 10 days on their return.

FA are in discussions with Uefa over moving the final to the UK. Yesterday UEFA said that the final would go ahead in Istanbul.

After all the noise from the FA, UEFA and FIFA over the last couple of weeks about how important the fans are and that they're the foundation of the game... Let's see them put their money where their mouth is and actually make a sensible decision and move the final to UK venue for the benefit of those very same fans they claim to care so much about.

Apparently if moved to England the main options are Villa Park and White Hart Lane.

Please, please, please let it be the latter, winning the UCL in Tottenham's 'fortress' is probably the only thing that can top Munich.

Hear me out here, what about hosting it in malta? Its definitely neutral, it's sort of half way between uk and turkey and the maltese government is planning on giving tourists €200 vouchers for hotels to boost the economy. Everyone wins
