Most players don’t get near to being peak till after 24, hence why they are still considered a young player at 23. Havertz possibly is our most natural striker, though will probably continue playing across or just behind the frontline. As I mentioned earlier his movement for the goal the other night was world class, you can’t teach that. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bayern have him earmarked as the replacement for Muller.

Your last paragraph really depresses me, I really think this guy is going to be world class.

I don’t think Bayern can afford him, presently we would value him around the £100m mark. I reckon they would replace Muller with  Florian Wirtz  from Leverkusen who ironically is Havertz’s heir.

Fcuked off in the summer and Broja put in this team please; with a solid pre-season, a technical midfielder being brought in and a ball-playing centre half who can actually defend. Not much to ask for shirley?

I’m not sure Bayern would want him in the summer. The danger time is next summer when he has 2 years left on his contract, at this point we’ll see the ambition of the new owners. Will they match his own ambitions? It will take a bumper contract and real investment in the team..we do know Bayern have a history of picking up on the cheap.

Let's not forget to blame the lump for making himself unavailable when we had all those corners and he could have come on as a sub when they had no Milato and no Nacho.

All those free headers he would have had...

The story about PSG is bullsh*t unfortunately, sources are hot garbage. 29 years old in May, £325,000 pw wages, total flop, total fraud; this will be his last big move. What happens from here will just be history repeating itself (Sheva/Torres) loans then eventual compromise. What a horrible set of affairs and one of the reasons not to be too down on the ownership change which will of course end Marina’s reign.

The game moved on from these big number 9 signings and that role in general, the board are living in 2010 still.

Based on what we've seen of him recently, he'd have been outjumped by Modric.

Possibly the worst impulse purchase since Kepa. Even though he's had his moments. Wish it could turn around for him and he could bang 20 next year but I just can't see it. Broja coming back seems lovely. Would really love a lock-picking Fabregas centre mid too.

Worst impulse buy since I bought leather pants when I turned 40....

The good thing is if Roman has really writ off the 1.5 billion, Lukaku was an expensive freebie, sell him for £25 and a bag of ‘Dolly mixtures’…….

Even if Paris were stupid enough in themselves unfortunently I think Messi and Neymar will have enough clout to veto it which they surely will.

I would genuinely watch Paris every week if he goes there just to see Neymar and Messi's reactions to every bad touch or game of hide and seek.

I wonder if we're get posts here on this/the general football thread pining his failings onto Messi, Neymar and Verratti 🤣

Can't see past loan with option to buy.

Lukaku isn't a bad player, just that his skill set requires us to dumb down our system to get the best out of him. This is something we already knew and pondered as to why we should forfeit a Champions League winning system in favor of Lukaku. When 90% of our fanbase saw this wouldn't work, it begs the question what footballing minds we have upstairs.

Lukaku can't even buy a tap in now so his head is clearly checked out too.

Imo I think purchasing any player over £80m is a serious risk, very rarely do they work out. Off the top of my head Cr7 to Madrid, VVD to Liverpool (which I believe was 75m), Bale to Madrid despite what some of their fans think or say and Suarez to Barca for around £75m. Mbappe to PSG is probably the most anyone has ever spent and it worked out.

Those are the only ones I can think that were really worth the money, Havertz for us still has plenty of time to justify, yet scoring 2 of the biggest goals in our history has him well on his way.

Griezmann to Barca, Dembele to Barca, Coutinho to Barca, Hazard to Madrid, Felix to Athleti, Maguire to Utd, Neymar to PSG, even Juve moving for Cr7 despite winning the league they didn't progress further in the ucl. I'm sure the list goes on if we drop the price tag further from £75/80m.

Anyway the point is odds on wise Lukaku was more likely to be a flop than a hit, going off past transfers as a  reference. Was it a worth while gamble? I'd say at the time it was, we needed a definitive goal scorer, yet hindsight tells us sticking with Kai and Timo would have probably been the better option.

Imo there is a market for Lukaku, it remains possible for a team like Inter or Juve to bring him back to Serie A where he clearly has his level. PSG may be in the market for a big name if they do lose Kylian yet it seems more likely they chase CR7 if utd miss out on UCL.

He just needs to lose weight, for the love of god lose weight man.

Amen

He's obviously at least a stone heavier than he was at Inter, and has lost all his speed and sharpness as a result.

The mind boggles at the professionalism of the bloke, who, having discovered the secret of his success, the special diet, Italian nutritionist bloke etc etc, then proceeds to give it all up and lard out ...

Someone like Cristiano Ronaldo would have had the guy on his personal payroll for the remaining duration of his career.

Lukaku is such a w**ker ... hopefully Tottenham will sign him for Conte, and he'll feel right at home with all the other w**kers at Three Point Lane.

For me it wasn't hindsight. His sh*t attitude was an open secret and it was obvious he'll be out of his depth in the system we were playing under Tuchel.

I think we panicked at the lack of goals last season and got one that we thought would guarantee some without looking at the bigger picture (ala the reason we created so many chances to waste and would Lukaku keep up such level of fluency). We even saw it on this thread when it looked like he was coming, genuine and correct concerns countered with (paraphrasing) "he scores goals, what's the problem?".

And the thumbs up. f**king useless again tonight.

He’s been practising those ‘thumbs up’ in training, he’s in top form with that technique.
