Romelu Lukaku back to Chelsea - and gone again!

Featured Replies

Lukaku is more of a goalscorer than Martinez and Dybala so he’ll be scoring for fun. It’s possible he may score 30+ goals and be regarded as one of world’s best strikers and we sell for 70m or whatever. I’m sure his head will be turned by the likes of Real Madrid, PSG etc.

sh*t deal. But better than the non deal we got for Kepa.

Nothing to say Kepa is not one of the next ones loaned out too. High earning back up keeper I don't imagine is high on the keep list for new owners.

My post from last year May 21

“I’d rather we go a different direction, say he returns and doesn’t hit the ground running, the bashing he will get from our fans, and the rest of the knobheads out there will be an Avalanche of abuse he doesn’t deserve..”

But in hindsight he does deserve…

It proves even more than Tuchel never wanted Lukaku but didn't want to ruffle too many feathers in a new job and having the reputation of being difficult at PSG. By all accounts Haaland was his 1st choice. He didn't want to come but Cech/Marina should have stayed away from Lukaku. Cech even recently said that he hopes Lukaku does well as he was one of the people who pushed for him.

Seems like Todd has given complete control to Tuchel for this window which I am fully onboard with. By next window we should have a DOF who can carry the vision forward.

Pretty much this.

The fact that Lukaku inside a couple of months started complaining that Tuchel wasn't using him right or in the same system as at Inter as he claimed he was promised by the club is further indications. Also been reported in the media that it was Roman & Marina that wanted Lukaku.

Which makes sense as they were the decision makers at the club.

A straight loan, no option to buy after a year, but i think his wages are off our list, with strong rumblings he won't be coming back, shafted by inter in two consecutive seasons, wonder what they have planned for a Hatrick of muggings.......

There is only one person to blame here and it is Lukaku. When you are transferred ypu have to honor the deal. He is just a boy who has no idea of consequences.

Hopefully we can offload him after one year loan recoupling some of that money.

Horrible deal, horrible person. f**k off.

And we have taught him zero consequences by just giving in to what he wants.

Ironically, I guarantee he will end up being top scorer in Italy next season. Shows the difference between the two leagues tbh. Dybala. Lautaro and Lukaku up front will bang goals there for sure.

Or alternatively, he isn't as good when he's not got Conte micromanaging him, loses his place to Dzeko and all of a sudden is telling the world he loves Everton.

I don't for one second believe this saga was purely about loving Inter, it's no coincidence his problems at both Chelsea and United came around the time he realised he wasn't getting his starting spot handed to him and had to actually show some bottle and fight for his place.

He will throw Inter under the bus just like he did us if/when he's not getting it all his own way.

We’ve really outdone ourselves this time. Pay 100 million for utter sh*t and they get him back for 8 million five minutes later.

I know there is a lot to thank Roman for, and there’s no arguing how successful we’ve been under his ownership, but there really is a strong argument that we were incredibly badly run, that for all the money spent, we’ve been left quite weak financially and that the later half of the era wasn’t as successful as it probably should have been.

It’s frustrating that we no longer have spending power and that the last of what we did have was pissed up the wall.

Can we delete this thread now this useless, arrogant twat has f**ked off back to his beloved Inter?

No thanks. We need this thread for when he inevitably throws Inter under the bus aswell.

He will have all his way at Inter, and playing a "weak" league he will score the usual 25+ goals. In a year's time, either Inter will pay up to sign him, or there will be a few buyers ( here we go Newcastle) want that proven goal scorers. WIth the inflation in football, I dare to say we will recover majority of the 90M. He's just toxic and a huge distraction for the team, send him away so we could focus on next season.

Agreed. "Best owner in the world" was used to describe Roman until the very end by some but I certainly don't think he's been that for quite a long time. Happy to throw money at what he and Marina perceived as problems but did nothing to address the house of cards underneath. Or even the incompetence at the very top of the clubs hierarchy.

There is a lot to this. Poor decision making can be overlooked when you're the biggest kid in the playground and can bully your way through. For a period in the early days we moved the market.

When big money came in elsewhere and it became more competitive financially our shortcomings in our transfer dealing have become more heightened especially due to the funds paid. Lukaku and Kepa. Both eye watering in monetary terms and appalling decision making. Anybody would have been sacked for either of these debacles.

We somehow have to hope Lukaku scores 45 goals next season just to make clubs pay for him. If we recoup 60m plus loan fee I think we have done as well as we can.

I have to say Lukaku is number 1 on my most hated players list.

My son made a point to me though that I hadn't really thought of. As poor as the deal may look it is the first time I a long time the club has clearly backed the manager over the players. Disruptive influence undermining the manager, fck off. The flip side of us jettisoned Lukaku at a cheap price is that it is a strong backing of TT by bombing him as quickly as possible.

Easy to do when the debt is written off and it was on someone else's watch, but it still constitutes an overt backing of the manager and hopefully a mission statement to the dressing room.
