Enough is enough, we aren’t being taken for mugs.
June 27, 20224 yr If we can get him for £50m then I don’t see why we wouldn’t. A top class premier league based defender will cost that

Sevilla didn't move the goal posts last summer. They set a deadline as they have this summer that Marina missed because she was too busy trying to sell Zouma first and mooching off Roman. They've actually been perfectly clear and transparent. We've just f**ked around and can't decide if we're going to put a bid in.

Strange one this is,I really thought we would get him especially when he was in London and a chels supporter asked him if he was going to sign for us,I can't remember what his answer was but it sounded as if he would.
June 28, 20224 yr Sevilla .. love them or hate them.. they are a well run club. They won't be cowed or blown over by a late bid. We need to get our acts together and make a bid if we want him. Just tell them the highest you can go after the initial bid and of they don't agree move on. From what I saw of the guy in his last couple of games, he ain't anything special, just versatile. We can get cheaper but good alternatives if only we sack our scouts and get better ones. I was raving about Cucurela for the last two years he would have been an excellent back up to Chilwell. Now his price is sky high. Watch as Chelsea go an pay 100m for a very average Declan Rice when City will pay 45m for Phillips. I say again that it is not the board that needs to be sacked. It is the entire scouting department. They are a bunch of morons

June 29, 20224 yr He should just stay with Sevilla and have fun playing the Europa League when they drop down
July 2, 20224 yr Barca now going for him. Gotta say, I’m abit gutted we’re not going in for him and potentially getting Ake instead

With colwill coming through I can see Ake being first choice and being phased out into a back up for colwill. De Ligt is a powerful centre back and is commanding in the air and although Kounde has a great leap a centre back trio of Kounde Ake and Silva is on the short side. If we didn't have colwill I don't think we'd be looking at Ake and be looking at someone like Gvardiol instead. I think one of de Ligt and Kounde is what we should be aiming for and in my opinion de ligt is the better option.

July 2, 20224 yr As Term stated, there’s a reason we are after de Ligt and the Kounde talks died down. Kounde was a board signing. De Ligt is Tuchel’s.

It’s silly season and people on here seem to get a bit touchy when talking about rumours but Matt Law who is somewhat on the credible side has stated we’re in advanced talks with De Ligt. Who as stated before, would be a huge coup and would pretty much have RCB cemented for the next decade, aside from Kounde being an apparent ‘board signing’ an entire back line of players under 6 feet in the PL would be a big no no and that’s not being traditionalist or unprogressive, it’s just reality.

Agreed. We seem to have moved our focus away from Kounde since Marina left.
July 3, 20224 yr Suspect there's a bit of arrogance on Boehly's part here, given that Kounde's signing was previously a Marina-driven pursuit. Bringing in a starting defender for France - particularly one who can also be an extra option at right back - for £55m (according to Fabrizio Romano) seems like an absolute no-brainer. Indeed, far more so than bringing in Ake for £40m+ or De Ligt for goodness knows how much. But Boehly wants to land HIS signings, not just finish off Marina's good work. Who cares if he was a starting defender for France?! There is a certain starting defender for England no one wants touch with a 10 foot barge pole.

Take nothing away from Kounde but De Ligt is the better option, head and shoulders (literally and figuratively) above him, plus he won’t cost that much extra. He’s built like a gladiator, has more experience playing in a back 3 than Kounde, better stats despite being younger, a natural born leader who has been a humble well spoken leader everywhere he’s gone, especially for Ajax and the national team. As I’ve said elsewhere, he has been playing out of position on the left side for most of his Juve career and this has led to misguided opinions on him. The fact we have the foresight & ambition to go after De Ligt is something to be excited about, Kounde abused his mum as a child and still has anger issues, sees a psychiatrist, De Ligt is a humble chad who’s ready to be the next captain of this football club.
July 4, 20224 yr I think we moved on from Kounde. He wanted to leave, Sevilla wanted to sell, but so far nobody made a bid. They should have accepted the money and ended this drama, instead this will drag on deep into the transfer window. His physical size is an issue, it's no surprising we prioritise a bigger defender.

I dare say most parents deal with that from a toddler at some point.

He has anger on the pitch which tends not to be useful, his teenage girl like stroppy coded Instagram stories we could do without too. Still a top player just not on the level of De Ligt.

I see Kounde as a budget Reece James tbh - impenetrable 1v1, dominates wide players in the air, fast, good on the ball, switches off at the back post sometimes but lacking James' shooting and crossing ability. Kounde is also a bit of a ball-watcher. De Ligt puts his head where boots are. I have a soft spot for proper old school defending and De Ligt ticks those boxes. The experience of playing/training alongside Bonucci & Chiellini and potentially Thiago Silva is mindblowing

Despite is height he has a great leap, and often does enough to win the header or jump into the attacker hard enough that he wins the ball (not in a way to give away a foul). He is also able to carry the ball forward very well, from Def into Mid. De Ligt feels like a proper old school defender, and a leading personality we desperately need. He is a bit slow on the turn which is a concern in PL, but his other attributes are stellar. Over 90% passing accuracy also, which suggests he more often goes for the safe pass.
