Chelsea v Liverpool (PL) Sun 2nd Jan 2021 16:30 GMT

Featured Replies

What a crazy first half. After a bright start, it was so disappointing to be 0-2 down. Credit to the boys to pull it back. However, if never really felt like we were going to go on and win. We looked VERY vulnerable every time Liverpool went forward.

Some points:

- Overall, a good intense performance from the team

- Felt for Trev with his mistake but no hard feelings. He’s been great this season.

- Pulisic HAS to score the chance at 0-0.
- Why are our players so scared to shoot?

- Jorginho helped bring some stability. They were cutting right through us

- As naughty as it was, I didn’t think Mane was a red.

Hezbollah a quick look at your post history and I see you clearly are a bellend. Tuchel out, slagging off our players at every opportunity. Ignore list and good luck degenerate.

Is that a response to what I said? I'm talking about Man City, I said it's like we won them thrice last season, respond to that. You don't need to concern yourself with my previous posts.

I missed the first few minutes of the game, but having now seen the elbow incident a few times, I can't believe Mane stayed on the pitch for that forearm smash on Azpi. Such on obvious move to clean out Azpi.

If a notorious footballing hard man like Graeme Souness thinks the Mane incident is a red, then that's pretty much a wrap ... the debate on Sky between him and Hasselbaink vs Carragher (supporting Mane) was hilarious. Hasselbaink to Carragher (who had said he didn't think it was a red card) : "Are you serious ? have you got your red hat on or your football hat on ?" :laugh2:

Unreal first half of football, even at 2-0 down I thought we had shown more intensity and drive than we have in any game possibly since Juventus at home.

We were lucky to not get caught flat so many times, although Liverpool didn't seem to find a way to stop our balls over the top. Nice to see us do this instead of constantly working the ball from left to right and back again.

Pulisic has to get some kind of shot away, he is not alone, Havertz has to do better as well, and certainly everyone has to begin to believe a bit more. Overall a really surprising performance, as I thought we'd be hockied.

Great game and unbelievable effort from the boys in blue to come back after being 0-2 down. Now, can we have that level of commitment against the likes of Everton, Utd or Brighton? Also, I have to admit that I’m a bit annoyed at letting a the bindippers walk away with a point after being the better team. Dropping points when you are the worse team like against Brighton is ok, but when you dominate Burnley, Manure, Everton or the bindippers top to bottom, we need to start getting the three points.

In any case, KTBFFH!!!

Yeah it’s a joke. Like Jenas and Shearer said on MOTD just now, if it wasn’t for the fact it happened in the first 6 seconds of the game it would have been a straight red all day. Ridiculous that this sort of thing can happen, especially as the ref has a clear view of it but the desire not to ruin the game as a spectacle means we get f**ked over.

Tbf I'm not too optimistic about him finally finding form...

Even if he does, it’s not sustainable. He’s an injury waiting to happen. Sell while we still can get a good fee.

Great game, especially that 1st half.

Thought we played really good today, pace, tempo and variation to our play.

Obviously Liverpool playing a high line and being a team that attacks helps with the spaces but today was just how we always should try to play against other big teams IMO.

More of the same against City and the spaces will be there.

And all done despite our injuries and Big Rom problems.

Played without fear and played with fighting spirit.

Proud of the team today!

Just watched tuchels interview not the post match presser the one before and he points out the bias we all see, in the first fixture we get a red from Tyler no VAR, pen denied against Brighton no VAR Kova goal absolutely searching for a reason not to give it, I’m sorry but it’s corruption pure and simple, just have to call it what it is

Was VAR thar got Taylor to come watch the monitor, where he saw a still image and meant he did not see the ball hit James leg and then go to his arm.

Some VAR calls have gone our way this season but it seems like the majority have no, whether it is failing to correct refs calls or trying to find reasons to disallow our goals. I.e. Werner vs Saints.

Honestly…reading through the thread, even with the benefit of hindsight, I do wonder if some of you know what supporting chelsea is all about…it’s never smooth sailing during a game, let alone a season…surprising to see so many write off players, the game, tuchel, the club during that first half..bloody hell, was only a year ago everything was much more dire and we ended up champions league winners four months later. I’m not blind to chelsea’s faults/issues, but seen enough over the years to know chelsea have a knack of going from the sublime to the ridiculous and back again.

title was gone before this game. Think it was a positive result and display in the end. Squad showing character under difficult circumstances, tuchel being pumped and the atmosphere was brilliant. A point has been made to Lukaku too.
quality of the goals we’re conceding is a massive worry too. But coming back from 2-0 down against Liverpool will give everyone a lift.

@The Brit am guessing you were at the Bridge for the game?

Along with anyone else there did the safe standing Maki a difference to the atmosphere? Or do we need a home game vs someone like Southampton to tell properly?

Fact is he didn't want to check VAR this time when it was Mane (Liverpool) in question. There is no doubt that the league isn't fair towards us, specially since Taylor gets to always have our big matches.

Great post, from a real supporter, try reading it some of you knee jerk idiots.....UP THE CHELS !

Felt Liverpool had so much more cutting edge than us. The passes they were making, just cut through us. Plus their forwards looked like they actually wanted to score.

Yeah I was there. It’s hard to say whether the safe standing made a difference because it was such a bonkers and brilliant game anyway! True test will be in a game like Brighton the other night when it was as flat as a pancake

And the VAR official was changed at the last minute. Paul Tierney had been due to officiate but Klopp complained about him having an agenda the week before, so we got the official who was due to have the Leeds game and Leeds got Tierney. It does make you wonder if it's better to open your mouth and risk the fine.

How do other clubs get to pick their officials?

I can only assume we keep saying "We'll have Taylor, please. The next game will be the one when he finally makes a decision in our favour".

Tuchel should request a meeting with the ref's association to clarify if a forearm to the face is a yellow or red card ? Taylor is taking the piss with that yellow card imo. And we need to call him on it, MOTD Shearer said 100% red card.

Think Liverpool will be more distressed dropping points than us, especially after holding a 2-goal lead.

Great character shown by the players and coach after a distracting few days.

I would love him to take a fine and ban if he can stop Mike Dean and Tony Taylor ever being involved in our games again.

Fair that. Let us know when we do get a home game like that, would be interested to know.

Chalobah's mistake was really unfortunate, but even when he had a couple of mistakes, i found it commendable how calm he seemed to be and he never really looked very shaken and overall had a good game. I really think he will be a huge player for us

Just rewatched the highlights again, Kovacic's goal just brilliant what a stunner, one of the goals of the season could watch it again and again, and Pulisic's equaliser pretty good too, both the extra bit more satisfying for being against the scousers too, love seeing the crowd reaction at the Bridge to those goals too, good stuff!
