Ok thanks.

I understand getting fed up with such behaviour, It feeds on the reaction however so I say let's try not to feed it. I won't pretend that I always manage to keep cool myself but I do believe we should all try.

Ok, that's fair.

Why so aggressive DKW?

You are obviously in the right about TB's understanding of the way the transfer market operates, but I don't get the need to throw insults around. They don't help the discussion and only make it less likely the other person will accept and admit they are wrong.

He's an old rambling idiot.

He got upset that he got bullied off twitter a while back for his nonsense and he's been bitter ever since. Once I pointed out to him that the majority of information and journalism comes through twitter now He's been angry every since.

Quite sad really but what can you do about those kind of people?

It's incredibly cringey to see someone cry about twitter constantly while commenting on transfer news that has broken via twitter.   It's an astonishing lack of awareness.

My own preferred answer to that is you can start by giving alternative opinions without adding insults. I just don't see insults getting us anywhere because we end up talking about the insults rather than the topic itself.

If we don't get Kounde and Dembele we will probably look at other options. Skriniar for example has been linked in defense, and possibly Cornet instead of Dembele.

I like Cornet. Excellent work rate and a eye fr goal. We still need a 9 and we should make a play for Belotti who is a free agent and no slouch Infront of goal. I will rather take Belotti on a free than pay 60m for Richarlison. That would be a compensation for paying over the odds for lukaku

Perhaps this is the strategy ?

Get them to overpay on Raphinha, so that they don't have the funds to sign Lewandowski ,who then becomes a cheaper target for us ?

I'm still curious who our "marquee" signing will be ...

More importantly I hope Barcelona still have enough funds to sign Azpi and Alonso, so we can do a proper rebuild at the back.

We should not sign a no 9

Barcelona are so pathetic they can't even pay the amount at once. They need a payment plan. It's as if I was going to buy something i cannot afford but i will pay it over 3 years like an idiot. Why don't they just give up already and just admit they are in serious financial problems and don't try to live above their means.

Surprised someone hasn't tried to buy them yet ... their current ownership model is taking them into oblivion at a rate of knots !

Don't believe the fans will ever allow that

Oh I agree, but I'm still surprised some multi-billionaire hasn't dangled a carrot in front of all the 150,000 odd fans (members) who effectively own the club ...  for sure the current governance system leaves them wide open to some god awful decision-making ... and huge debts ... almost as bad as ours were LOL

100% this. I think Belotti would get a good few goals. As someone else pointed out to me he isnt the same since an injury a few years back but i think he could get 20+ goals a season at Chelsea.

Not for me, we really need to learn from last year and be more clever. Our system doesn't suit an out and out 9, I was skeptical of signing even Haaland for that reason.

Dembele staying at Barca.

De jong staying at Barca.

Raphinha heading to Barca.

Kounde heading to Barca.

Lewandowski heading to Barca.

Alonso heading to Barca.

How on earth are they pulling that off €500m in the red?

Because they are all bent. They have sold their television rights for the next 75 years, so can now spend 300m and when they get done for ffp, they'll appeal it and get let off that as well. Both of them are as bad as each other. Technically been bankrupt for years.

Even with that they are asking a lot of players to take pay cuts if they want to stay. What could possibly go wrong?

Exactly. It beggars belief. Praying the bomb out of the CL again. However once again, looking at the players they are signing, it shows how weak that league is.

Ah come on you know. And so far nothing suggests the Alonso to Barca stuff has anything in it, or that De Jong will stay.

If he wants Barca so bad we should honestly just forget about him and find someone else. We don't need another Lukaku situation where the player ends up wanting to leave midway through the season. Like any Chelsea fan I don't like Leeds however I do respect the way they have conducted business in this situation despit Barca trying to play dirty this transfer window.

Agreeing a transfer fee before checking the player himself actually wants the move is

...exactly as the majority of transfers are done in the Premier League as the EPL rules require consent from the club to approach their player
