May 18, 20242 yr Some noise Poch wants control in signings. Reminder he wanted Viega and Ugarte before Shields said f**k that and got Palmer and Caicedo. Ugarte isn’t even playing for PSG.

But you need to consult with your manager in term of player profile that you need.

May 19, 20242 yr I'm on the fence on Poch's future, but definitely no to RDZ. If he reckons he had tough luck with injuries at Brighton, Chelsea is the last choice for him. The shine has definitely been take off him this season, there are a decent team, but hardly inspiring. In a way Poch has paid his dues, if there are better options a change is possible, but let's not downgrade to another Brighton manager.

RDZ is fine, if you are a midtable team that want to play certain style, he is very good but if you want to sign young player or superstar talent, not sure he is your guy.

That's a pretty good sign player quality was letting him down

Goals scored from Set Pieces : Brentford 10 vs Chelsea 12 Goals conceded from Set Pieces : Brentford 8 vs Chelsea 11 (we are better than Newcastle, Tottenham and Villa, in the same ball park as Liverpool, but a long way behind City and Arsenal) So the data suggests he should be able to tighten us up at the back a fair bit, and perhaps improve us at the right end assuming we have better corner and free kick takers than Brentford. The sceptic in me just thinks we need some players who are better in the air than most of our current lot 🙂 Nice to see BlueCo looking at this though ... leaving no stone unturned in the quest for improvement. Even if he can only save us 5 goals a season then the £750K compensation is money well spent.
May 19, 20242 yr At this point I genuinely don't know what will happen. I think the board would probably keep Poch if he is happy to stick to the current arrangement but if Poch wants more say in transfers and the board won't budge then he might walk/we might go for someone else. In the event that he does walk I really hope it's not McKenna that we go for, he is absolutely not what we need. In the case he left I'd be happy with Tuchel, De Zerbi or Amorim. Their model is just a nightmare for any coach wanting to build and compete. He’s made his mark on the game, had Pep Guardiola fan-girl and now Juventus are begging for him. He’s yet to be tested with a superstar team, so it’s silly to dismiss how he’d manage that. Gotta start somewhere.

I think a lot of the setpiece things comes down to the fact we don't really have a lot of elite headers of the ball, at our best, JT, Ballack, Drogba, Cahill, Galas in his time.. Its not just about hight or power but timing and technique, out side of Tiago I don't really see another in the squad.

Team clearly needs coaching in defending crosses and second balls.
May 19, 20242 yr Crazy how things can change, a month ago 90% of us wanted him gone. Where do we grade Poch this season? 6th place finish is solid on paper, ridiculous amount of injuries, City, Arsenal, and Liverpool would struggle with the injuries we've had, any team would've struggled with that. Completely brand new XI full of inexperienced youngsters to mould into a team, difficult task. And I think it's definitely worth stating we got to a Cup Final, and Semi Cup Final in both competitions. I give him a B, I think he deserves another season.
May 19, 20242 yr Him and his team went straight down the tunnel and missed the lap of honour. That doesn’t look good and suggests he knows something.

If the season had ended a month ago, we would have been worse off than I predicted. I still don't rate Pochettino, but he will get his deserved (I guess, I don't know, maybe I'm in a kind mood today) chance at a shot at improving us next season and hopefully winning another European trophy. We can't have another defensive season like this though, it's been appalling, and today was no better. Never improved from set pieces, never improved on crosses to the back post, never improved on our composure. All of these issues were an issue from day 1 and on the last day, all of those issues were still there. We've been carried a lot by Palmer this season, he can't rely on that next season. Expectations will be a top 4 finish.
May 19, 20242 yr Don't forget we won the Premier League summer series trophy in America pre season. Poch has shown us he has what it takes, who could forget the sight of James holding the trophy with tears of joy in his eyes.

I think we've definitely improved from last season though, nobody can say otherwise. And we need to be on a good trajectory next season, top 4 minimum IMO. I said 6th at the start of the season, but once Nkunku was out for 6 months and our players were dropping like flies I had a feeling that's not going to happen. So really, they've exceeded by expectations this season, I thought we would be midtable.

Maybe they think it's not sophisticated enough in the modern game, but we conceded too many from that tactic anyway.
May 19, 20242 yr Mauricio Pochettino on not addressing the fans at full-time: "When the players started, Adrian [press officer] said I need to go inside." (@BobbyVincentFL) #CFC Pochettino: "I don't know if a meeting is going to happen. On Friday night, Todd Boehly invited me for a dinner and it was nice. My staff tomorrow are flying for holidays. I will stay in London for a few days. My phone will be on." #CFC
May 19, 20242 yr This guy runs down the tunnel instead of addressing the fans? That's absolutely pathetic to be honest.
