Alvaro Morata

His finishing was poor but his movement was very good. Those chances don't just come his way by accident. His movement also creates a lot of space for his teammates, namely Willian and Pedro today. I don't mind a striker that misses chances, I mind a striker that doesn't get chances. Morata may not be the best in the world but he'll always score goals and he'll always contribute to the team through his all-round play.

Wait a minute... So...

...Cameron Jerome?

You will when we are desperate for a goal and the striker hit's our one clear chance straight at the keeper.

I get your point, but you don't get many 1v1's in a game and if you don't take them, then it could be the difference between winning and losing titles. I use Aguero as a good example of this. This guy get's chances game after game, he get's a lot of goals but he has a habit of missing easy chances in big moments. If he took those chances, then maybe City would have had an extra few trophies by now.

I just hope this is a bilp in Morata's game and not something he has always had a problem with.

Salah is hottest striker in the premiership at the moment and he should have scored 5 yesterday not 2. Three clear misses before he actually scored his first. No striker scores all his chances I haven’t seen Salah do much in the air but lethal on the ground, Morata the other way round. Give Morata more good service from the wings and he’ll give a better return.

One things Morata adds to our teams is his interplay with our other forwards, head and shoulders above Costa.

Admit to being impressed by his movements across the front line when I saw him live at Stoke in late September. He has impressed me with his teamwork too. Agreed that he seems a better player in the air than on one to one situations. I'm glad he's with us and not playing against us though.

His link up play is a lot better than Costa's.

Not worried about his finishing, he showed he's got it, even the other day when he stuck away that last minute goal...

It was a bad game against Stoke, but in the reverse fixture, he was clinical.

(How nice is it not to have Costa's volatile behaviour every game, btw?)

Riiiight,

How many of you actually are the true fans that can cheer the players up through the sun and rain?

How many of you are here because you love the game and most important love the club?

Can you please explain me why this young striker needs to be commented like this and so much? So what he isn't scoring at every opportunity? So what his finishing with feet is not as lethal?

Remember Drogba?

All I can say Morata has excellent techniques (for a striker) and all he needs is time.

Show your support and appreciate his efforts. Look him fly next season.

Who are you to question fans loyalty and right to question players form/ ability/etc. Ive been going to The Bridge since 1968 and was there every game “when we were shi.t” and when we were playing beautiful football. The paying fans have every right to voice their own opinion on anything they like regarding Chelsea football club.

”this young striker” cost an awe full lot of money and is paid an obscene wage. A lot of hopes ride on his performances, from other players, the manager, the club and us the fans, so that is why he is commented on. What is wrong with that.

Shut up you clown. Are we only true fans if we think the sun shines out of every Chelsea players arse?

Morata has had some stinkers in 1 on 1 situations and has been rightly called out for it. Its not like Morata is going to be reading The Shed End and be upset that a few fans have said his finishing needs to improve.

Grow up.

He's getting time, lots of it.

He was a gamble at the price we paid for a bench warmer.

Technique is all good and well, but totally useless without application.

Kane is a perfect example of little technique, pure application.

When at the match, everyone (99% anyway) cheer the players on. There's a difference between supporting them during matches and discussing them on the internet.

Because this is an internet discussion board??? What the f**k else are we going to talk about on a Chelsea forum if not Chelsea players and results?

It's something for him to work on...

"All he needs is time"? It's not like anyone's calling for him to be sold or dropped. You can have a discussion about a player's strengths and weaknesses without wanting them out for goodness sake. Everyone can see he's a good player, just he needs to work on his finishing.

End of what? Not a sentence, by the look of it.

Morata by now should have about half a dozen more PL goals to his name. Hes missed a lot of "easy" chances but hes getting into the areas to make those chances.

I think he needs to operate on an instinct basis, if a ball is fired into the box and drops, he'll be the first to react or get to it, right now, as we seen against Stoke, give him a few seconds to think about the goal and he'll f**k up. I dont like saying it but he needs to take a leaf out of Kanes book and become more clinical and ruthless infront of goal.

I still love that we have him and not Lukaku though.

I think he'll improve alright, you have to remember when compared to similar CFs his age, hes played barely 1/3 the amount of games at senior level. Hes a talented footballer but hes yet to truly find his feet, IMO.

Under Conte, that will change and I reckon he'll go from strength to strength.

You do know it's possible to be supportive and appreciative and all that bs AND discuss on a forum where there is room for improvement, "riiiiiight"?

Very poor one v one. Seems to hit it straight at the keeper the majority of the time. Needs to improve to be a top level striker.

He will never be a top striker if he stay in England. This league is too tough for someone like him.

I think that's what some people need to understand, not every good European player us guaranteed to hit it off here in England. Smash, bang... wallop at times in this league.

Terrible finishing from the lad today. Must improve and quickly.

can’t help but feel a touch of Torres about this one. Hope I’m wrong.

Emotions are high, but that was a gold standard of a bad performance. In such a big game vs your rivals who seem to have it over your manager. I could take 1 bad miss but 3!
