July 15, 201610 yr Kante works in the deconstructing role, Mahrez in the constructing. The latter is always the more difficult thing to do. Mahrez was brilliant. Kante was great as well.
July 15, 201610 yr It's certainly the harder thing to do consistently. The Vardy vs Mahrez vs Kanté debate for Player of the Season (I think it was pretty much unquestionably one of the three) is one on which I am happy to accept a number of different views as being equally valid. Personally my choice is/was Kanté as I think he was the most exceptional out of the three. I have seen more players play as well as Vardy and Mahrez and do what they did, whereas I can probably count on one hand the number of players I have seen play Kanté's role as well as he did throughout last season. Maka being one of them. Obviously he's got a way to go until he reaches Mikel's level but still...

July 15, 201610 yr You've got to applaud the club for this one. It's a staggering signing, I'd never have given us a chance in hell of getting him bearing in mind the nonsense we went through last season and that we are not in Europe. I'm amazed he has chosen us - no way we would've been the only club in for him. Clearly we still have some sort of pull (£ and London!) and I'm pretty sure the presence of Conte was a massive factor too. I think Conte is a massive coup for us I really do. July 15, 201610 yr One thing I've liked about this club in recent times is how quick we get transfers done -- if all parties agree with things, then there is no messing about. Kante in the midfield will be absolutely brilliant. Exactly what we need. Now we should sell Mikel and sign another box to box man.

July 15, 201610 yr I very much like the signing and very similar to our Cluade, but I still think we are bit lightweight in the midfield area, when you think back to the days of Ballack and Essien they were powerful players and we were never dominated by sides. I would like to think Matic would have been that type of player but he just isn't..........maybe he needs more Weetabix
