November 5, 20169 yr Had his best appearance today in his second spell here - world-class defending, solid as a rock and anticipating everything everywhere. Love to see him play.

November 6, 20169 yr No-one is laughing at Luiz or chelsea any more...have to say, he's done far better than I thought he would and I was pleased he came back in the first place...but at the time it was more for his personality, I still feared he'd have too many mistakes in him...hope he keeps this up

JT isn't getting back in atall barring an injury crisis, didn't suit a back three in his prime let alone now. Thanks to the emergence of this back three, we can give Zouma all the time in the world to get back to full health.
November 6, 20169 yr Certainly exceeded my expectations of him returning...but then again, so has the rest of the team. This is a miracle formation.
November 6, 20169 yr The way he can pick out a pass from the back is brilliant. We always knew he was good on the ball, but our past formations never really suited him, this formation suits him perfectly though. The same can be said for many of our players though, so many of them suit this formation. The reason why 3-4-3 hasn't worked in the past in the Premier League is because teams haven't had the right players to play this way, we have though.
November 6, 20169 yr He has been outstanding since the move to 3, it is a perfect formation for him, so maybe he and Alonso were Conte signings after all with this back 3 in mind. His passing is a joy to watch, and in this 3 he has no need to go charging out of defence to tackle unnecessarily, which was one of the main things I was worried about on his return. I would still worry about him in a back 4 if I`m being brutally honest, but with Matic and Kante on the pitch they cover in perfectly for him.
November 7, 20169 yr I had to add this tweet, because so many so-called CFC fans were ready to throw Side Show Bob under the bus before a kick-off whistle was even blown Jamie ?@LegendJohnTerry Nov 5 When they said you're just a panic buy, but then it turns out that you're the best CB in the country
November 7, 20169 yr I love it when people are proved wrong, however I also appreciate it when people accept it and apologize. This is Garth Crooks: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37892037 Quote I think I owe Chelsea boss Antonio Conte an apology. I was one of those pundits who gasped and then sneered at his decision to bring Luiz back to Stamford Bridge. Yet what I have witnessed since the Brazil defender's return is a player utterly focused on defending and taking pride in keeping clean sheets. Against Everton, he stuffed Romelu Lukaku in his right pocket and Yannick Bolasie in his left. I cannot remember a single chance Everton had throughout the 90 minutes in one of the best defensive displays I have seen by a Chelsea team in years. And it was led and directed by Luiz. Magnificent. And who remembers after the Liverpool game when Souness and Carragher were chatting a lot of sh*t calling Luiz a 'panic buy' and stating he will not be a first choice CB at Chelsea? He started every single game and apart from Arsenal game he has been very good and has been one of the best CB in the league this season. Edited November 7, 20169 yr by STATS
November 7, 20169 yr All I'm missing is one of his hype goal celebrationsIt's coming definitely coming

November 7, 20169 yr The 3 back system is really perfect for Luiz. He had the extra protection from the other two Center backs and Matic, which allows him to safely distribute or play as a quasi-sweeper. Edited November 7, 20169 yr by Blue Beagle

November 8, 20169 yr Since Conte changed the formation to encompass three at the back, Luiz has thrived under that formation. It's been fantastic to see how well he's played recently. Here's hoping he keeps it up.
November 8, 20169 yr Just spent a few minites reading back through pages around the mid 30's of this thread. I won't quote anyone as I don't want to single anyone out for ridicule, but some people must feel a bit silly now ;-)
November 8, 20169 yr Conte knows how to use Luiz. He's even better in the past game than the whole stint he had with PSG.

In the first few games he wasn't the worse of our players, but he didn't perform as well as he is now. So, yes, happy he is doing a superb job.

Plenty of people were against him coming back and that is fair enough. My post was more aimed at the people who were slagging him off to high heavan, mocking the signing, and suggesting he was nothing but a liability who was only popular because he had wacky hair. November 9, 20169 yr I'll admit that I thought it was a panic buy at the time. It seems Conte had a plan all along. Just let Luiz be Luiz.

Its even worse than that, I wasn't happy because I didn't see him working in a defence of 3 but thought he could work in one of 4... Has there been anyone more wrong than me in History?
