February 2, 20179 yr Legend, a privilege to watch him, we were lucky to have him, one of the greatest midfielders in the history of football.

I remember watching Soccer Sat once we went 1-0 down to Villa (pretty sure it was the 05-06 season) and they went back like 60 secs later and we'd equalised it was Super Frank. He just always seemed to be there when we needed him with a goal.

You need to "frame" it: you're not afraid to show your vulnerable side. So manly
February 2, 20179 yr http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/38023336 The BBC decided to have a debate and a vote on who was better, Lamps or Slippy G, and then posted the stats that proved there was no debate to be had. Things Lamps was better at: Goal scoring Assisting Appearing for his club (s) Winning trophies Things Slippy G was better at: scoring own goals in cup finals costing his team league titles by miscontrolling passes and slipping over Back passes to the opposition Erm. Err Sorry, there weren't any others.

February 2, 20179 yr Simply the best, not only for Chelsea, just the best, i have a pretty catholic taste for PL players, and Lamps for what he has done for us, goals scored appearances, match winning performances, my god how we miss him...... Leader of men when Terry was unavailable, simply love the man to bits, just imagine if he'd been a striker.......
February 2, 20179 yr Legend. In his prime, his runs from midfield and finishing gave Chelsea a real edge, while his passing was underrated. He was also terrific at taking penalties. The comparison between Lampard and Gerrard is a tired one, but to this day I believe that Lampard was the more consistent of the two.

I think it's a shame it never gets mentioned, to knock it in from that angle is incredible, not to mention the perfect weight on the shot I think it gets dismissed because they don't think he meant to do it. I have seen him interviewed about that goal and he confirmed he did mean to do it. World class. With Steve Holland leaving in the summer and the FA offering him the chance to do his badges there maybe a spot for him on the coaching staff. I know great players often fail to make it as a manager but Frank is a smart guy and obviously wants to stay in the game. He knows Harry Rednap and I'm sure he will be aware of the pitfalls of management yet he still wants to get involved. Harry has spoken about Franks hard work and how he would be the last one to leave the training ground and how he would practice kicking with both feet. His work ethic and intelligence will stand him in good stead in a managerial role if he wants to make a go of it. Lets hope he can.

February 2, 20179 yr Two stand out for me. One - the Goal. Two kissing the penalty spot after Ossie's ashes were buried beneath it.
February 2, 20179 yr Great player, great man. Deserves the title "Legend" what he's achieved individually and as a team member is top class. Been lucky to meet him away from football and had some quality time with him. The way he is away from the game makes him in my eyes a complete human being. Can go on and Enjoy the next chapter in his life now.
February 2, 20179 yr Favourite player of all time (if my username wasn't obvious enough). Hated the few people on this forum who talked sh*t about him when he left for NYCFC/Man City, **** you guys. What a beaut this guy was, unbelievable. Played a full pitch game, always gave 110%, great leader, everything about him was perfect. Total man crush on him and it's sad to see him retire.

If it makes you feel better, I basically turn into a sissy every time I see literally any picture or video of him.
February 2, 20179 yr One of the most iconic Chelsea photograph (in my mind anyway) is the triptych of Carvalho and Drogba holding Lampard after that penalty. I also like the Osgood FA cup final header!
February 2, 20179 yr The BBC poll is a joke. Statistically Lamps trumps Stevie in every aspect - why is EPL goals not listed? However, not in the media-driven popular culture. Currently the vote is 50-50, but I fully expect Gerrard to win, inexplicable! Thanks Frank is was a hell of a ride whilst you were at Chels. I think a statue outside the new ground is required. February 2, 20179 yr All time favorite player, not even close. First ever game at the Bridge vs Leeds in January 2003. Most remember it for Eidur's overhead but for me it was Frankie dragging us back with the two goals to win it. But too many moments to mention as evidenced by the various posts here. Thanks Frankie.

I'm sure the non-Liverpool vote will start to come in now people are getting home from work. Can't blame the BBC for taking their last chance to re-hash this tired old debate I suppose...
February 2, 20179 yr i always find it odd when people say lampard was "only" good at scoring goals and that his overall ability wasn't anything special. isn't football about outscoring the opposition? and isn't the way of doing this by scoring goals? if he's only a great goalscoring midfielder, i'll take that. he had so much more to his game though, so the ignorance bemuses me. February 2, 20179 yr His penalty kick in the CL final and the pass when he picked ramires out for his goal against barca Its only because the media darling gerard played for liverpool that he even gets mentioned in the same breath as frankie.
