This BBC report tells things differently to the rumours Sky and others have been spreading:

He didn't even travel to London, there was no medical. Apparently.
So much misinformation being peddled. Just tabloid bollocks.
Apart from the fact that Barkley would not have strengthened the squad due to his long-term injury, I really do not see how he would fit into our current side. I just don't think he's got the attributes to make it with us. He hasn't really made it with Everton- just like the Is never really made it at Arsenal.

Everton owner (I think) confirmed via Telephone call on sky that Ross Farcely changed his mind mid medical.

"Everton's claim that Ross Barkley turned down a move to Chelsea after having a medical and agreeing a contract has been disputed by a source close to the England midfielder.

Majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri said Everton had accepted a bid and Barkley had agreed personal terms before changing his mind after passing a medical.

But the source said the 23-year-old did not travel to Chelsea.

And they said he had not had a medical."

Who has an agenda to push and who doesn't?

Like I said before, not keen to sign him while he's going to be out for 2-3 months. He did us a favour by walking out. Unless he burns the bridge by saying something unsavory in the next few days, we will be back for him in the next transfer window.

Poor old Ross Barkley.

He went down to London, to sign for the Chels,

Had a panic attack, when he heard alarm bells.

Heard about Carroll, and sped off home.

Got pulled for speeding, and being on his phone.

Poor old Ross Barkley.

This is so true...

I predict we still sign him but in Jan.  I dont think he had a medical, (and if he did there is no way he changed his mind, he f**king failed it) but i do think he agreed personal terms which tells me he wanted to come here, or was at least interested in doing so

Part of me thinks the decision to come back to it in Jan, or wait until then; whatever it was, was mutual between us and Ross.  As it means we get him for 20m at most, and hes fit and ready from the off. Spurs did not make a single call to Everton all summer the papers are saying now, not even attempting to sign him, so i dont buy the story he waited to see if Spurs bid.

BBC have a source saying he didnt change his mind after a medical, he simply wants to join his new club when fully fit.

I would like to see the Board go for him again in January.  Hopefully fit by then as well.  Rare for an English footballer, he has a high level of technical ability and that makes him an attractive target.  Tactical awareness can be drilled into him by the coaching staff of which he is rather weak in.  You can coach tactics and awareness of space but you can't coach technical skills for established players and the squad has a shortage of players with good technical skills.  Although he plays as a number 10, he has the physique and ability to play as a box to box midfielder.

Probably wants to join Spurs, plenty of young English players there.

yeah i do think young english players probably have a preference to spurs and pool over us due to this. i mean it's the same as spanish, french etc players having teammates or other french/spanish players at a club which influences a player coming sometimes. not always the case, but it's certainly a pull for some players.

My colleague who's an Everton ST holder couldn't wait to get rid of him.  That tells me enough.

It's hard to take Everton fans seriously. Every time one of their players says they want to leave, they say they would be glad to be rid of them. I don't think for a second that Everton fans truly wanted rid of Stones, Barkley or Lukaku. If they want to break into the top 4, then they need to keep their top players, not sell them. I do think Stones is complete sh*te though so i can understand why they would be ok with him going.

Hold on, I forget to go on Google Translate and set the settings to "Honesty"
Now it reads:
"I WANTED TO LEAVE ON A FREE TO GET A MASSIVE PAY OUT BECAUSE I DON'T GIVE A f**k ABOUT MY REPUTATION OR MY CLUB"

I seem to remember her saying it about Lukaku and Barkley in the middle of last season though not just in close season.  She never rated Lukaku - was frustrated by his inconsistency and poor first touch as well as his laziness.  I really don't think it was when they wanted to leave she was talking about being glad to see the back of them.  But I may be wrong.

I really hope we don't go back for him in January.

Agreed, he runs aimlessly with the ball, and his 'football brain' is lacking. Don't see all the hype.

Where would he get in regarding the Spurs midfield though? And look at what Conte did for Pogba, took raw talent and made him an important part of the Juve team. I still think he's got the talent to be a top player with the right guidance.
